Restaurant was empty. Server was totally checked out. Food was ok not great.
Great food and great service. Very helpful staff. Food was delicious and light !
Intimate feel and a very good meal, especially for the price.
The food was uneventful but not bad. Great staff. Not too posh a place for the Green Park area. Comfortable for a casual lunch with friends and no pressure to leave afterwards. Would recommend.
The food was quite basic nice carpaccio but without Parmesan Cheese
The chicken was basic and the Tiramisu which they say was great was actually very dry without a real taste
Service to constantly asking how was the food
Good reasonably priced short lunch menu. Bit far from the usual tourist haunts so very quiet if you need a conversation
The staff were knowledgeable abounthe food but did mix up our orders and considering how quiet the restaurant was they weren’t very attentive, we were not advised that the chicken escalope didn’t come with any sides and we had to order chips separately but they didn’t arrive until we had finished our mains. Not very much atmosphere for a Saturday night ok value for money but didn’t even offer a drink for the mix up with orders.
Went for a Birthday Brunch - something a little different from the norm and found this to be a quiet spot in Mayfair. The restaurant is quaint considering it is in the Sheraton Grand but the service was good. We had chosen the bottomless option and hadn't quite decided on 2 or 3 courses which was fine. Decent if limited choices, especially for vegetarians but the Purgatoria starter and the Salmon were very good. The Pizzas were authentic and tasty. The Sea bass was a little on the salty side but the salad it rested it on again quite delicious. ALl this washed down with prosecco, Rossolinis and Bellinis helped while away a lazy birthday afternoon. There was no rushing and the staff were keen to ensurer we were happy and refilled.
Overall a pleasant place to wine, dine and catch up.
Nicely designed restaurant; if a bit echoey.
Set lunch is excellent value
Starters and mains were excellent, but sadly deserts were not quite as good.
Bottle of Soave was good value too for a Hyde Park Hotel
Sadly our main complaint would be the service which was fine while it was working but seemed to disappear for periods (not the number of people just kind of their attention span!!???)
We did enjoy it and with slight reservations would recommend and revisit!
A Truly Wonderful Experience & Great Food we will be Regular Diners in Future,Well Done👌
We were positively surprised. Mercante is the Italian restaurant of the Sheraton hotel, but service and food are not the traditional flavor and service of these establishments.
Every single dish was amazing, the server was italian, which was also great and prices are low compared to similar options in London for italian restaurants.
My wife and I returned to Mercante on March 2nd 2019 for dinner. The food was very well prepared and the service excellent. The tables are well separated, so conversation was easy.
A non memorable event, hence an average score.
A very dull lunch - there was only one other table (of two) in the restaurant. The service was the slowest one can imagine - were waiting for starters and then twice as long for the mains. Pasta was very average, chicken was dry and the portion of steak tartar although quite all right in taste was minuscule in size. Unfortunately very dull and empty experience on all fronts.
A fabulous location - great food and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! I would thoroughly recommend the bottomless prosecco brunch at the weekend - great value for money and my glass was never empty!
Chose due to deal and was close to the theatre location we had come from. Portions were very small and there was no option on the promotion menu for any side dishes.
It also took about 5 attempts with various members of staff to a) get the bill and b) get someone to come and take payment. So I won't be rushing back.
Lovely food and good attentive service. Empty though it was a very snowy cold day.
Enjoyed the Prosecco brunch. Had the brioche and avocado to start and meat balls in tomato sauce to follow. Bit basic, some pasta with it would had added something I taste and the cheesecake after was ok. Nice place for a get together whilst out shopping. Service was good.
Visited with one friend for a long-overdue catch up. Everything really good about this restaurant EXCEPT..............we were the only 2 in there hence no ambience whatsoever. This obviously is not the fault of the restaurant - just no-one wanted to eat out on Monday evening! there is no Set Menu right now so we were invited to choose from the main menu which proved to be outstanding value for money. There were a couple of things which weren't available but that didn't prove to be an issue. The portions are good size and very well presented. I didn't want a pudding and was allowed to have a cappuccino instead which was huge! All in all a great place to dine but don't go on a Monday if you want to be surrounded by other diners.
Two members of staff on a Friday night of which one of them had started that day empty restaurant no ambience we gave up waiting to be served and went next door not good all round
Dommage que notre réservation pour le nouvel an n’était pas parvenue au restaurant et heureusement qu’ils nous ont trouvé une table pour la soirée prévue. Sinon rien à redire c’était très bon et on a très bien mangé.
The restaurant was excellent. It was rather disapointing that I had to take the 60 pound menu, while it was an option on OpenTable not to choose it. It became an expensive diner. But the food, service and ambiance were wonderful.
We had a lovely meal and great wine. Would love to go back.
Great location and setting, amazing service and great food.
Would highly recommend for bottomless brunch date.
Very disappointing as our food never arrived. Restaurant was 75% empty at lunchtime but both waitress and manager failed to check on us after taking our order. After 35 minutes I had to search out the manager who lamely apologised by saying that kitchen was overwhelmed by a large booking from the adjacent restaurant (apparently they share a kitchen). Entirely hopeless communication and we had to leave hungry with no time to do more than pick up a sandwich before returning to the office. Thank goodness my client saw the funny side.
Was empty but service was not good. Very casual atmosphere. The potion of mains were really tiny. They didn't have pizza then. Desserts were nothing extraordinary... quite poor...
Ham is nice but food are quite salty. Nice atmosphere tho and quite place to have dinner
Great brunch menu - huge portions and a lovely atmosphere!
Great for a place to talk and have great wine and food
Brilliant value lunch, a lovely venue, very nice hotel toilet facilities. Great to catch up with friends over a few glasses of prosecco. The food was amazing for the cost, much higher quality and quantity than expected.
Great location and very friendly service. Food was fine but for the price not as amazing as it promised. Completely empty as is attached to the Sheraton hotel and we had a v late lunch.
We had brunch on Saturday and the place is simply fantastic! Located in the heart of everything, with lovely food, good prices and extremely attentive staff! We had such a lovely time and it was not overly crowded, which was great for us.
Amazing authentic Italian bottomless Brunch with fab drinks and yummy food.
Great value brunch for £15. Tasty options and great service. It was to celebrate a family birthday, and the waiter did a great job, providing a complementary birthday dessert. If you are up to it, you can go for 'bottomless prosecco' for an extra £15. We'll definitely go again.
Met a friend for a quick lunch catch up and chose Mercante as I saw their good value express lunch menu advertised outside - 2 courses for £15. The service was friendly, a few things to choose from on the menu, small plates, regional Italian dishes. The food was tasty - great meatballs to start although I wasn't too enamoured with the pappardelle dish that followed- it was a bit too stodgy for my taste but had good flavour. Not much atmosphere at lunchtime that day as not very busy.
Went here for a business lunch on a Thursday. Until 2pm we were the only diners!
Ingredients were excellent quality, preparation and service not quite so.
First time at Mercante and would definitely return. Our party had the set menu (which you all had to have). You get a great selection of starters (the Octopus Stew was really tender) and then choose an individual main course and dessert and for £30 was great value. This was friends getting together and although the restaurant was busy you could still hold a conversation, so no shouting matches involved! Small, but good, wine selection. Would definitely recommend and return for a group together.
I booked a table for two for a girly dinner. The waiters could not have been more courteous and attentive and their suggestions for desert were spot on. We both had the same pasta dish - gnocchi with duck ragout. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and my only criticism would be MORE SAUCE!
