Definitely be going back! Everything was brilliant and look forward to going back in the near future.
The fish was cold, the gnocchi was tasteless and we had to tell the waiter the steak should be medium - rare as he took the order down wrong!. The meal was completely overpriced and there was no Jack Daniels
Certainly won't be going there again
Outstanding food. Very touched by the birthday plate. Staff a little eager at first, asked for our food order before we had a chance to get cocktails, then starters arrived shortly after we’d had the drinks served. But none of the detracted much from a wonderful evening. Would definitely recommend.
Great ambience, lovely service but my main course of cod with nut crust and cauliflower purée was an odd combination - couldn’t taste the fish for nuts! However, I would go back and try something else as my friends thoroughly enjoyed theirs.
Great location. Very attentive service. Food was very nice. Would like to try in the summer when you can sit outside
Rooftop terrace that offers Igloo covered tables as well as an enclosed restaurant style ambience. Nice views of the surrounding towers and dome of St. Paul's but no view of the river. 7th floor just isn't tall enough for that.
The food selection isn't vast, but quality of the ingredients, preparation and flavours were impeccable. Had an excellent gravaldlax for starters and a fantastic porterhouse and enjoyed both.
Wine list is eclectic and offers good choice both for budget-constrained and picky connoisseurs. Had a Puglia Primitivo and a Chateaunouf-du-PaPe and both were excellent.
Service was professional and timely. The waiter knew his wine. The Porterhouse was cut to slices on a board next to the table.
The only downside to the experience is that the chairs have high handles that can not go under the table, which placed me too far (to my liking) from the table.
Ahh.. One more thing - a London restaurant that does not offer English mustard. Pity...
Lovely restaurant and great views. Storm Dennis prevented anyone actually going on to the terrace which was unsurprising for if they'd opened the doors the food would have been scattered somewhere over the Thames.
Great selection of wines and even the modestly priced tempranillo we chose was quite fine.
Starters were outstanding. The bread, served with the starters rather than before - a nice change - was a delicious albeit a little greasy.
The main course, in our case we both had the duck, was perfectly cooked - pink and succulent. Slightly over-seasoned and salty for us but I expect for the majority of people this would be fine.
Deserts were also great and the rhubarb souffle is particularly recommended. Staff were polite and courteous without being obsequious and overall we'd be more than happy to return.
We could not choose the menu, we decided to leave.
Went for Valentine’s Day and there wasn’t much ambience. The food wasn’t great quality - very bland. Service wasn’t great either - one of the waiters didn’t even tell us the candle was the butter for our bread. The hotel when you first arrive looks lovely, and the decor In the restaurant is very nice, so they’re definitely missing a trick as it has the potential to be very nice. Overall very disappointing especially at £99 per person. Won’t be going again or recommending to friends.
Lovely place! Great food! Amazing atmosphere! Will definitely come back!
Great service and food. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion. Would recommend.
It’s a really nice restaurant and doesn’t feel too much like a hotel restaurant. The space is lovely and so is the menu and the staff. We like it. (2nd visit)
Great rooftop views, beautiful ambience, attentive service and lovely fish/meat dishes. However veg dishes need some more variety and taste.
A nice setting but outrageous pricing for food which was forgettable at best.
The experience at mercer was so pleasant and I couldn't thank staff enough for making it such a great evening. The evening was organised as a team outing with the occasion of our MD visiting from US. Initially I was really stressed about everything turning up alright, but I was made feel at ease by the staff involved. Therefore, I would like to thank Gosia, George and another person that attended our table (unfortunately didn't get his name) but he was always making sure that everything was fine. Many thanks, team, and thank you for the great experience.
Great location and beautiful hotel. Have eaten there before and really liked it. Not this time though. Not sure if the chef changed, but everything was ultra rich, drenched in sauce and heavy. We were the only table for most evening and the service was always rushed.
Lovely quiet (in winter - imagine v busy in summer) space for a good meeting. Food was good and overall was v happy with experience. Will be back
It is a fine setting. I appreciate we came on a quiet Saturday night but service is charming but slow. I had to remind staff to bring the main courses. Two main course dishes we sent back as cold, staff courteous but it shouldn't happen. Didn't bother with dessert and coffee, had waited enough. The staff did though provide two complimentary glasses of wine to compensate for eating after half the table had eaten. We hadnt asked so the gesture was appreciated.
On the food front the bread is usually superb but on the night a white box loaf was served to each diner. Boring and all it did was fill me too much although I only ate a quarter. The pricing to me is too steep. I understand when a plate is Michelin level one pays for the presentation, etc but I am sorry the food is way off Michelin in my opinion.
I have been previously and I suggested the return with a different set of people. This time disappointing
Great service, interesting igloo outside! Nice view over city. Food was decent.
Four diners , one of us is vegetarian .
Firstly I ordered a bottle of wine - they had run out so offered me a choice of two others which I had never tasted before - I asked would it be possible to try before I ordered . I could buy a glass of one but they didn’t do the other by the glass so no - what irked me was the fact I had to buy a £ 12 glass of wine, when they could have just given me a small amount - declined and ordered something else.
When I came to order something from the vegetarian mains I was told none were available - it was a special day ( whatever that meant ) when I complained I was told by the waiter he would speak to the kitchen - we were then told miraculously that 2 of the dishes were now available .
To be fair the waiter was helpful but I think behind the scenes I don’t know what was going on .
Food was surprisingly wonderful. Especially enjoyed the brussel sprouts cooked in chilli and spices. Service was very attentive and everyone had a great time. For us it was perfect venue to chat and catch up however if you are looking for a lively, London hangout then this isn't the place.
We will definitely be returning.
Amazing all round and what a beautiful spot! The interior is amazing, super comfortable and a great view of St Pauls. Only thing would be to add a cheaper sparkling wine / champagne option or perhaps a Prosecco to the menu!
We had the afternoon tea with champagne and the highlight was the first moment when the waiter brought a candle, lit it up and said that we can it afterwards, we did not expect that at all, nice surprise
Great service from the team at the Mercer roof terrace
I was attracted to the set lunch menu advertised on Opentable, which included steak (a favourite of my guest). It was not described as a sample, but when we arrived there was a different menu offered. The steak dish was replaced by a pork dish, which is not considered an equivalent in most restaurants. So don't be deceived by the menu listed!
We were also given a list of dishes that weren't available, including the vegetarian dish on the set menu. My guest chose the replacement, a mushroom risotto. I chose the seabass, but when it arrived it was dry and the serving overall looked drab and unappetising. It was replaced with fish & chips after I complained. The desserts we had were pretty average.
In summary, we paid £29.50 each for a basic mushroom risotto and fish & chips, with two mediocre desserts. The restaurant was noisy, but the ambiance and service was OK.
There are far better choices in the City at this price or less, so I will not be returning.
An excellent lunch. Friendly service and good food. A little pricey, but their set lunch menu was excellent value.
The meal was lovely even though it did take a while to get to us. I however did notice that the table next to us had one more cake on the top tier of their afternoon tea. Refilling the last cup of tea was just hot water and no longer new tea. Otherwise, service was nice and the ambience was good since it was quite quiet.
Christmas dinner was lovely, went above and beyond when we request additional vegan dishes. Wonderful
The food was generally average to poor. I had Monkfish and it was overcooked both watery and pasty. New potatoes had that separated recooked dry skin. Poor for the price. Group of ladies in having a great time, cackling away for all they were worth. Glad they were enjoying themselves but needed to be toned down a few octaves.
My first visit and my last. Must be the worst result for any Restaurant. Just goes to show how tough the restaurant trade is. Take your eye the ball for one minute...
For a drink it s a nice. Place the food was not to our satisfaction
Such attentive service from the minute we got there. One of the best afternoon teas I've ever had. A quirky menu with the little touches made it extra special in a gorgeous setting. The chef went above and beyond to please us. I really couldn't recommend this place anymore, I can't wait to go back!!
Amazing food, incredible service, outstanding location. Ticks all the boxes
Lovely business lunch at the Mercer Roof Terrace. It is part of a hotel, and you need to take a lift to the top. The view is great, and we thought service was impeccable. Nice new place.
This was our second consecutive meal here during a weekend break in London. The staff were again excellent, even remembering what we had had the night before, and helpful in the extreme.
The staff were all very attentive and helpful. The view from our window table was very atmospheric
Very overhyped-this is a basic hotel restaurant which in the summer has an outdoor terrace.sadly 3-4 menu items (menu is not long) were not available “due to a big lunch crowd” apparently! Food was OK but same can be found in many more intimate, non hotel settings.
Small hotel restaurant off the beaten track. Really delicious food very nice polite service.
Beautiful setting and fantastic waiting staff - very attentive, polite and conversational. Food was good but felt very expensive for what it was. We enjoyed our lunch though!
Lovely food and service
First visit here, and it would be good to visit on a really sunny day and you can then sit out, they have heaters too and you get a good view of the South Bank and St Paul's. Good food deal on Saturday, and food portions were very generous. We had one lunch from the set lunch menu the starter of soup with welsh rarebit, was filling and delicious. Main meal of Pork Chop again very well cooked. The Halibut off the main menu was perfectly cooked. Nice dessert menu if you have room. Food reasonably priced and very good quality. Attentive staff and a nice pause between courses. Well worth a visit.
