MERE is husband and wife team, Monica and David Galetti's first restaurant.

Spread over two floors, this Fitzrovia-based restaurant is the brainchild of Monica Galetti who is featuring as a judge on the BBC's MasterChef The Professionals.

The restaurant itself serves traditional, simple dishes that have been delicately tweaked and modified to Galetti's liking. Nestled above the spacious basement restaurant is the bar, which serves light snacks and an array of delectable cocktails.
Monica's husband, David Galetti, is in charge of the Front of House at Mere, using his years of experience as an expert sommelier to create a wine selection along side his head Sommelier Sandra that perfectly balances with the seasonal dishes on offer.

A mid week lunch outing. A special find. You can tell the moment you walk through the door that the people who own it are involved, have a passion for food (and drink !!) and want to make sure their guests
enjoy the overall experience. I'm never sure about basement restaurants... but this one works. A relaxing drink at street level in the bar and then down a flight of steps to a room flooded in natural light from the street outside. We opted for the tasting menu with matching wines. Some very clever combinations, wines I would never have tried... a Chenin blanc from SA and a white blend from Greece. Both superb. My only disappointment was the red Langedoc. .. OK.. perhaps my friend is right...it's time I should give up on my usual claim that French wine is best !! The food portions were just right, everything beautifully presented, the plates were well dressed, sauces bang on. The chilled white port with the cheese course ...a highlight, one of many in this lunch. p.s. a special occasions place. £££ Deep pockets recommended.

Super lunch with my sister. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The meal was beautifully served and exceptionally tasty. We saw the tasting menu and thought it would be worth having a go at another time. It includes a vegetarian tasting menu.

Visited Mere a few weeks after visiting Core so it had a lot to live up to. It didn't disappoint.
Greeted warmly and offered a drink in the luxurious bar area. Ordered a virgin cocktail which was delicious and I don't really like cocktails.
The menu was short but adequate. Taste and presentation was very good as was the wine recommendations.
The service was very attentive and the price was excellent.
Thank you for a very nice meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The food was delicious and service very good. The set lunch is very good value. Enjoying our pre-lunch drink in the bar was like being in an oasis of calm. The surroundings throughout were very stylish and a lot of thought has been put into interior design and all that entails.
Interestingly I like neither popcorn nor Marmite, yet the Marmite popcorn served with our drinks worked very well..to the point I actually liked it. Meeting Monica was obviously a bonus! The staff are all delightful and quite clearly make an excellent team. Would I go back?...yes most certainly!!!

Once through the heavy outer door you enter a world of understated quality, great service and wonderful food. A colleague and I booked and had the lunch menu. There is an extensive a la carte which looked really enticing but at £35 for three courses the lunch menu offers a great way to sample the food and is good value. There are two choices for starter and main course and with two courses costing £29 the three course is the natural choice. There was only one desert offered although cheese is also available but for a supplement.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with the staff making you feel special and welcome. The wine list is also extensive and at a range of prices. A 250cl carafe of Malbec to accompany the main cost £12.50. Sparking mineral water and Brioche were complimentary and we were content to pay the discretionary service charge.

This is high quality fine dining and there are also taster menus to choose if you don't want the a la carte. We hope to dine here again.

We went relatively early on a Wednesday evening, so I expect we experienced it quieter than usual but the atmosphere was still lovely and we had a great time. Food was in good portions and very tasty. Service was excellent - competent and friendly. Reasonably priced given the fine dining experience. Would recommend and will be going again.

Had seen good reviews, so took my wife for a 'significant birthday' treat. We were not disappointed. Excellent service from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. It feels like all the staff care that you have chosen to come to their restaurant. The food and wine were equally outstanding. We tried the tasting menu with paired wine choices. Not only was it a fabulous meal, but several of the wine choices were a revelation. A thoroughly excellent place for a special meal out and we will definitely be returning for another visit.

I took my girlfriend to Mere for her birthday and we had a fabulous experience.

The food was absolutely amazing ( I had the pigeon and she had the brill) and the wine was sensational. I definitely recommend trying their own champagne!

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

The whole experience was really special so go here for a great treat!

Great environment. cosy, warm and friendly. I would rate higher value for money but don't want the prices to rise before we go back for the taster menu with wines. We ate lunch from a la carte both vegetarian and non-vegetarian... plenty of choice for all. One suggestion (minor) is for the taster menu to have more meat options for those who can't have/don't like fish (yeah I know...). The cocktail & wine list needs particular mention & the friendly helpful somelier. Tip: have the desert wines with the sweet course! The amuse-bouche were magical! Support staff were friendly if a little reserved? Maybe new and just finding their feet? Get in now before this get's it's M-star or becomes impossible to book less than months in advance!

Our only, very minor, complaint was that the seating in the bar area was too low and the music in the same area was too loud , maybe we are just getting old !! Otherwise an outstanding evening, an excellent tasting menu and accompanying wines and the absolute cherry on the top was to meet Monica herself. We will definitely be back.
