Absolutely wonderful food and service. Been wracking my brains for any fault and have not come up with anything! They went above and beyond to accommodate my severe nut allergy, checking the cocktails, and swapping out the dessert for something off the a la carte menu, rather than just removing the nuts from the set dish. Service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. Made to feel very special by all, and that our requests were no trouble at all. Drinks and food were of the very highest standard (we had the tasting menu) but special mention goes to the veal sweetbread - this was the best dish we have both had in a long time. A very special evening for our anniversary - will definitely be back!
Second visit this year and decided to have the 6 course tasting menu wow it’s was a good as it sounded and better each course was amazing and the cheese was something else worth every penny a Michelin star beckons I’m sure
Relaxing environment with bar at ground level and restaurant in basement accessed by stairs or large lift. Very clever use of natural lighting downstairs so the room feels light and airy. We were early (before it opened) but received a warm welcome. Cocktails were refreshing, recommended pre-lunch aperitifs. The food was high end and beautifully presented. We were thrilled to meet Monica, who is a warm and friendly person and along with her husband and team they all made our anniversary lunch very special. Highly recommended and we would certainly return (no need to wait for a special occasion - just a treat)
The restaurant experience was all we hoped it would be. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drink. After we had selected our meals, the sommelier discussed the different options for the wine, the wine list is very extensive.
There were five of us in the party and we chose to eat a la carte. The food was presented well and had some interesting combinations of flavours.
At the end of the evening the chef/proprietor came into the restaurant to chat to each table. Monica Galetti has opened what I can only describe as worthwhile "high-end" dining venue.
Understated décor, subtle but charming hosts and service!
Food: taster menu with wines and adjusted for various allergies, vege etc. No compromises - a flavour attack for every course, presented beautifully and a delicious and interesting wine accompaniment.
10/10 we loved it!
Excellent food at Mere - a special treat. All the dishes were put together so thoughtfully, elegantly and the taste was amazing. Great food, great service and great ambiance.
Unite simply one of the best meals I have ever had. Not just the meal itself, but from the pre-dinner cocktails to being invited to meet Monica Galleti in the kitchen.....what a lovely lady. Every aspect of the evening was precise, professional, yet beautifully relaxed. Thankyou to the whole team!
Visited with my partner for his 30th birthday and it was a marvellous experience. We had a very warm welcome by the team and had drinks at the bar lounge with small nibbles. The cocktails were well balanced and refreshing and set the scene for the beautiful downstairs dining room. The restaurant had a calm, sophisticated mood without any of the extreme pretentiousness often experienced in upmarket restaurants. It was wonderful to have a nice conversation and to enjoy each other's company.
The food was gorgeous with really fresh ingredients and lovely flavours with really spot on wine pairings on the a la carte menu. I would certainly love to return to try the tasting menu with wine pairings and just sit back and relax. Pleasurable experience and will dine again.
From the moment we entered the building and shown into the downstairs dining space our expectations for a memorable evening piqued. Choosing the tasting menu with matching wines is, in my view, an excellent way in which to experience the talents of the kitchen and cellar. The food was consistently excellent and the wine pairings certainly enhanced the whole experience. The staff were excellent, courteous and wholly professional throughout. The cost of the evening was on the high side for an 'out-of-towner' but then quality comes at a price.
I can thoroughly recommend Mere
PS Monica popping out post service to chat with the diners was a nice touch and greatly appreciated
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. As you would expect the food was beautifully presented and as we opted for the tasting menu we were able to taste the full repertoire of Monica Galetti's cuisine. This was very well balanced and very enticing. The cheese course was very pretty! The wine could be chosen in 250 ml carafes so, as a couple, we could choose a couple of different wines to match the food rather than just choosing a bottle of wine to share. We couldn't fault the food or the service and the ambience of the restaurant is modern and calm.
The bar, restaurant and service were all impeccable. The food was inventive yet accessible and superbly presented. The wine selection by the glass was an added treat. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Absolutely stunning food. I have dined at many fine dining restaurants, including one and two star Michelin restaurants and have probably not eaten finer food in at if the them. The veal sweetbread in particular was wonderful. Will be back to try the tasting menu next time.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mere, had the set price lunch menu which was delicious. Excellent cocktail in the bar beforehand. Sadly a noisy group of business people were sat beside us, who gradually got louder as the lunch progressed. However, we would return to Mere as the staff and food were all exceptional.
The food is incredible. I started with the scallops which were excellent but the glory was my duck main course. The duck was incredibly tender and served with a small amount of the most delicious intense sauce that featured kumquat and tied it beautifully together with the jerusalem artichoke, something I have not eaten very often. Sadly, after I polished off the delicious starter and main, I had no room for dessert.
Wine list also very good.
We had a lovely meal and the food was very good, the wine exceptional. Just a shame the price is a bit silly for a two and half course lunch. £5 for a coffee, leaves a slightly bad taste. Nice for a special occasion though.
We had my birthday dinner at this place. It wasn’t busy as it was Monday evening and the food and service both were excellent. Very attentive and friendly waiters and great food was very impressive. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back.
We went for my wifes birthday and was not disappointed. The duck was the best that I have had and the birthday note signed by Monica Galetti was a nice touch. Also very impressed that Monica took the time to say hello to all her guests having just completed a busy service. Well done
Staff brilliant, food lovely, ambience amazing. Wil definitely be coming back! It is the best food we have ever tasted, hands down! Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and were so looked after we felt we were the only couple in the restaurant!
John & Sue Jones
Outstanding from start to finish. Friendly staff genuinely interested in what you thought of the meal, which was superb. Definitely booking this one again.
Amazing, right from the welcome and drink at the bar through to the after dinner coffee. Lovely food, champagne and most of all excellent service. We will be back!
A stunning dining experience. Impeccable service from the second we walked in to the moment we left. We both ate the tasting menu with wine pairing and could not fault any aspect of the meal. Everything was simply perfect.
A very attentive knowledgeable staff. Relaxed atmosphere and an excellent and varied menu. Tasting menu excellent. Accommodated food preferences in their stride. Highly recommended for any occasions. Added bonus was to meet and chat with Monica after the meal. Well done to a well organised brigade.
So over-rated, we were so excited to go. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. We found the wine servings small bordering ‘tight’, the food was luke warm and service was nothing special. I have been to many Michelin star restaurants which were cheaper and IMO much better.
Excellent service and pristine food done just right and not overly rich. Mains were outstanding and nice relaxed environment
Using a gift voucher, we opted for the a la carte menu and had a satisfying and beautifully cooked meal. Starters were good and, for mains, the canon of lamb was cooked spot on. My wife's lobster main looked excellent and she rated it highly. Tarte tatin rounded the meal off well. Service was attentive but not intrusive.
Many of the wines are expensive, but we had a super bottle of red at the cheaper end of the list.
I felt very much at ease in the surroundings and with the helpfulness of the staff. The staff wanted us to enjoy our visit to Mere and we appreciated the care they took.
I booked as a birthday treat (my 42nd was the following day), and was most impressed.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful from the moment we opened the door.
We had a drink in the bar before being seated downstairs in the restaurant, where the waiting staff were attentive yet fully respectful of the diners space.
We had opted for the 3 course set lunch menu, which was beautifully presented and delicious.
Wonderful food served in a wonderful relaxed environment. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and ensured we had a fantastic experience. A real treat that Monica was in the restaurant. Overall a wonderful evening, a restaurant that I would recommend and return to (which I hope to do in the not too distant future)
The food and service were excellent. We ate early when it was quiet, got a lot busier later
This is an amazing restaurant, food excellent, staff very attentive and even got to meet Monica herself.
Wonderful tasting menu and matching wines in relaxed setting. Staff were all attentive without being intrusive. Will definitely be returning.
Fantastic meal, went out their way to cater for dietary requirements
Dull, uninspiring food. Ludicrously overpriced.
I was very excited about this reservation having greatly respected Monica Galetti's work from the other side of the TV screen. HEr first restaurant is on my favourite culinary paradise of Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia and is a lovely setting with good decor choices. Her staff are friendly and attentive, and the cocktails, both classic and a small selection of specially designed for Mere were very nice. THats sadly where the good stuff stopped. We chose the tasting menu with matching wines. THe food arrived quickly, with an amuse buche of cauliflower which was at best a very subtle flavour, and not tantalising or stimulating. The starters of pumpkin paste with amaretti was dry and without any fresh or sharp contrasts, and the langoustine consommé was weak and bitter, the small crustacean and raviolo of chicken again very light on flavour. The steamed cod with celeriac was a welcome interlude, with the Rose veal unseared and chewy for my dining companion, and the Madeira jus just flavoursome enough. THe cheese carnation with verjuice gel was delicious, but the desert of pear and candied chestnut vacherin looked amateurish, though tasted fine. THe wine pairing were adequate though not exciting and small on size grumbled my companion. THough very new still the paintwork in the toilet areas was already scuffed and grubby - toilets often give away attitudes about attention to detail elsewhere in the restaurant I find. OVerall I am surprised and disappointed - on TV Monica has an obsessional attention to detail that is lacking here at Mere - this is eminently retrievable and I hope it happens.
We went à la carte. The lunch menu would have been better value had we fancied the options.
Liked the decor and the service was great.
Monday lunchtime celebratory lunch - great food and service in a relaxed atmosphere.
Absolutely fantastic food I could not fault it at all. The tactic menu was out of this world. Great ambience, customer service was fabulous. Everyone surely knew their wines. David Galetti was an excellent host. I would not be surprised if this fantastic restaurant receives a Michelin star soon. The decor is modern and classy and the main feature of the bar which is the sculpture is amazing. Definately going again and cannot wait. C Jordan 17/03/18
We came from The Netherlands to eat here (the restaurant of Monica!) and we were very happy we did 👍 The vegetarian tasting menu was delicious and surprising, we loved it! The restaurant looks beautiful and the staff is very friendly.
Amazing food, great ambiance and decor and service. We had the tasting menu which was fantastic - ate every course!!
My wife and I celebrated her 40th birthday here and had an exceptional meal... cannot rate it highly enough! A must for foodies.
