My boyfriend and I decided last minute to go out for New Years Eve, so I found Meriwether’s and we were not disappointed! Amazing food and excellent service! We’ll be coming back fairly soon.
Great service even though the restaurant was very busy for New Years Eve.
We were celebrating a birthday on New Years Eve it was put on the reservation. No one acknowledged the birthday. The food was okay the Salmon was bland the steak special was thick steak with gravy on top. Not worth the money. I hadn’t been there in years definitely did not live up to the Landry standard. On the bright side our waitress was exceptional.
Horrible food and service !!!!!
Never going back !!!!
Hadnt been to Meriwether's in a while since we moved to the far west side. Was great to go back and find everything still top notch and great!
Excellent food, impeccable service. The entire evening for my 13 guests was perfect.
Christmas Eve dinner, food was excellent. We were a little disappointed that we were not told that we have to ask for bread, found out after entrees had been served. It was a little slow waiting for the appetizers but once they arrived, food flowed at a steady pace after.
We have dined at Meriwether's many times without incident; however, Saturday was not a pleasant experience. Our waiter was super chatty and although we asked not to be rushed, we didn't mean super slow service. We had to ask that the service be sped up. The teacup bread was delivered before our orders were taken. The teacup bread used to actually be baked in a teacup; however, they didn't appear to be. They appeared to be rolls that were just stuck into a cup and also were extremely overdone, especially on the top. When our orders were finally taken, we discovered that there were no vegan options. Two in our party of 8 were vegans. They ordered the veggie stuffed ravioli, only to discover that there was cheese in the filling - not indicated on the menu which we reviewed before making the reservation. Also, all pasta (even angel hair) was ridiculously made with egg, so that was not a vegan option. We would not have chosen Meriwether's if we had known this. They didn't even offer to make a veggie platter, just let them order a VERY small plate of asparagus.
My fish (mahi, mahi) with dynamite option (supposedly crab crusted, was overcooked and had only a little bit of crab. The rice I was served was under cooked and absolutely flavorless. I ate only the asparagus on my plate. Three at our table ordered coconut shrimp entrees. Two were delivered along with everyone's food, the third wasn't delivered until most were done or almost done eating. Manager's excuse - they had to remake the shrimp which were over cooked and the kitchen was short one chef; however, the shrimp that was delivered was also extremely over cooked.
The service was also not good. Beverages were not refilled timely. A coffee request had to be asked for several times. Although the manager removed the over cooked fish from our bill and gave others a 'service credit' it really wasn't enough to make our experience better. The manager also appeared annoyed at our complaint.
Went for reunion with high school classmates. It was slow to get our food. The clam chowder was excellent, but my friend ordered the French dip and never received the Auju. The salad I feel was over priced but the steak in the salad was delicious.
Very loud for a bit - group of 12 seated closeby - but were gone before we were finished.
Good happy hour but small space and understaffed so long wait for everything. Too bad we would have ordered more if it hadn't taken 40 minutes to get served. We had steak frites, wings, prime rib sliders and mango mojitos and all were good.
They sat me immediately. My reservation was set for 10:00 pm, which I was unaware that they also close at 10:00. My waitress, who was exceptional in every way over assured me that I was okay. She made me relax about it and I beyond enjoyed my experience. I usually have date nights with my hubby downtown, multiple nights a week. We are definitely visiting Meriwether’s again. Actually within the next couple of days...
Understandably, they were busy, but Skip seems a bit disorganized and scattered. Very nice man though.
WE WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND OFTEN!!!!! SERVICE WAS GREAT, NOBODY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FOOD, NOR THE AMBIANCE WHICH IS WHY WE SELECTED THIS PLACE IN THE FIRST PLACE!! THANK YOU!
We were there for a birthday dinner I waitress Tiffany was the best I’ve had in a long time. I am a regional manager for a hospitality industry and I know what good customer service is. Tiffany gave that plus and I congratulate her for such excellent service for
Yes I would recommend. Enjoyed our lunch and we were able to spend time visiting.
I brought several clients for a business lunch. We waited nearly 2 hours to be served. Two of the meals did not have side items ordered. The food was cold by the time we received it. Our server was inattentive. I was very disappointed in the whole experience. I used to enjoy this restaurant but I would not go back again.
First, let me begin by saying I’m a returning guest for the second time. My first time here was amazing, this is where I had my graduation dinner/surprise engagement party with a party of 12. So, we decided to have our first day married celebration here being that our service and food here was excellent the last time we came. However, this time we came with a party of 12 again that consisted of 5 children, a teenager, and 4 adults. Let me say that the amount of time we had to wait for some of our guest food to come out was quite long. Especially, being that there wasn’t really that many people inside besides our party. My niece out of 5 children was the only one waiting for her food while all the other children had been served their food already. Then 2 of our guest entrees weren’t as they requested and had to be sent back and their entree came out before their salad they never got. It wasn’t until it was brought to the waiters attention that he thought about the salad but by then my guest didn’t want it. So, unfortunately our visit back wasn’t anything quite like the first and the first time was quite amazing and perfect.
Tiffany provided absolutely outstanding service! The Thanksgiving dinner was very good, especially the stuffing and turkey, and was an excellent value. The Lobster Bisque was a delicious indulgence. The staff really cared that our party of 7 had a pleasant experience. Thank you for a special evening!
First server was abysmal and beyond slow. Manager changed us to an amazing server (Brendan). He rocked. The food however was sub par. First order had to be sent back because of foreign object in my food. Brendan really tried to make it better and I don't fault him in any way. But he wasn't enough to make me want to go back again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving experience at Meriwethers. The food was delicious and the service was attentive and friendly.
Met friends for dinner to celebrate our special anniversary. Our server was very pleasant but extremely slow from beginning to end, every step of the way. It took forever each time he left to get something. The restaurant wasn’t really very busy. Don’t know if it’s a combination of his service and kitchen/bar or what. Won’t go back anytime soon.
Food was terrible and overpriced, for unseasoned food. They weren’t willing to do much to accommodate the first experience. We were expecting extravagant food and service for the price. Looks nice though
We've been to Meriwether's countless times. This visit was off. First, the service was really bad. In fact, I mentioned it to the hostess on the way out. She said she was going to tell the manager. Our server was inefficient bordering on incompetent. My husband ordered a double Martha's Vineyard salad with grilled chicken. After a while, the server came back to say the Romaine lettuce had been recalled, so no salad available. The Martha's Vineyard salad does not use Romaine lettuce. It took an excessive amount of time for my husband's drink to come. Our dinner took exceptionally long to reach us. Mine looked like it had sat for a long time. It was the shrimp and artichoke linguini, not a difficult or time-consuming dish to make. The salad couldn't have taken long to prepare. We saw our server bring out a birthday cake to another table. We thought he'd be right over to check on us. Alas, he did not. We had to get the hostess's attention to call him over. My husband needed more dressing, and I needed grated cheese for my pasta. The pasta was bland and tasteless. We had eaten half our food before the server returned. I asked for my dessert to go. He brought it. He did not bring the roll and butter to take home that he had promised. I had to remind him. It took about 15 minutes from the time he took our check to the time he returned. Apparently, I had banked my points, including my birthday reward (which I was celebrating), and he needed the manager's help. I think the proper thing to do would have been to come back to the table to explain the delay. All I know is the next time we go there, I will ask for a female server. I would not want to repeat this experience.
Food and service is great! our server Mel does an outstanding job and is one of the reasons we continue to come to this restaurant
The waitress was a little slow the ambience was so great you hardly noticed. I would definitely visit the restaurant again.
We have been coming here off and on for the last 26 years.. and my wife's parents as well for their anniversaries throughout the years. We love the teacup bread.. the buffalo rock shrimp... the walleye and snapper.. and can't forget the house made key lime pie. This time we came for our 26th anniversary and brought our 11 year old son for the first time. He loved it as much as we do. A classic we will always come back to. Happy that Meriwether's has not changed.
Our wait staff, Julia, was super efficient, timely and friendly. Five of us in our dinner party, everyone enjoyed her service and our dinners.
Seated right away, waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and served hot. We had the special three course meal they were offering to Landry Club Members and each course was brought out with perfect timing between each. We did not feel rushed and were able to have an enjoyable leisurely meal.
Our food was great. We had the Charley's Bucket for two. Our server Marva was phenomenal also. She was funny, attentive, and very courteous. Our food mishap was handled swiftly by the manager when we were missing our shrimp from our meal. Great dining experience from start to finish.
Awesome had my meal preparation gluten and dairy free. Have a gluten free menu. Thank you. Servers awesome Chris and Lauren in the bar area!!!!
Fabulous time with friends!
Food was great! Service could have been better. Very friendly but we rarely saw the server.
Sweetie’s Day
Women at the table across the aisle and down from us was talking at an extremely high volume. We heard her entire conversation.
What a disappointment! Could have chosen to eat anywhere in Metro Detroit on a Saturday night and any other Landry's restaurant but chose Meriwethers. I've enjoyed in the past and have been coming here for years. Tonights experience was disgraceful. Apparently a wedding was going on and although the restaurant was relatively empty, they just could not keep up. Brought a family member and had raved about the "teacup bread"- only none was to be found, despite our being in the restaurant for 2 hours- and despite manager stating it is made "several times a night." Waitress apologized for the service in advance, however, had I known the appetizer would come out with the salad, I would have not ordered it. Next time, close the restaurant for a private party if you don't have the manpower. I could have accepted all of the above, however, but when my "healthy" option broiled whitefish was brought smothered in butter and I sent it back to be recooked dry and "blackened"- it literally reappeared not more than 3 minutes later. Sorry Meriwethers, hard to believe it wasn't just dried off and replated. Will never be back!
The food was fabulous their new chef is awesome
Good place to eat, a bit slow, however way overpriced
Excellent. Louis was a great server and we would asked for him when we return.
Seafood boil was great. The food was hot and served in a timely manner. The staff were attentive to everyone, even if not assigned to our table. Great Sunday dinner outing!!
