Meso Maya - Ft. Worth
Chef Nico’s love for the culinary arts started at age nine, when he worked for a bakery, making deliveries and assisting in the kitchen in Mexico. Nico honed his skills at several restaurants throughout the country, in states such as Vera Cruz, where he learned about seafood, dried chilies, and making sauces from scratch, and Oaxaca, where he perfected tamale-making techniques. In 1996 he left Mexico for DFW so he could pursue his goal of becoming a renowned chef. By traveling from state to state throughout Mexico, Chef Nico learned many of the culinary skills that patrons in the area enjoy every day. Chef Nico earned his reputation within the Dallas restaurant scene by working at Cuba Libre, The Porch, Hibiscus, and Meso Maya. His food is celebrated for its complexity, unique presentation, and fresh flavors (thanks, in part, to his love of gardening—he grows peppers, tomatoes, squash, and onions).
wood-fired marinated steak, homemade sweet corn tamal, crema mexicana, charred salsa, queso fresco, black beans
isla cortes white shrimp, striped bass, fresh lime juice, diced jicama, tomatoes, cilantro, fresh avocado
slowly cooked brisket with caramelized onions, cilantro, roasted poblanos, queso fresco, blue corn tortillas, tomatillo guajillo sauce
Great food & service!
We were tucked in a corner, very private and quiet. Food was terrific. Service was a bit casual for my taste, but good. We had to ask for dessert, it was not offered, but was cheerfully added to the bill when asked. We enjoyed it very much.
Nice evening on a cold nite Dining with an old friend Both were impressed
Daddy daughter date
Good drinks, great food, love the atmosphere. We’ve enjoyed coming here for several years. One of our go tos when we want good, not Tex-Mex, Mexican food.
Food was delicious, and our server was wonderful.
Food and service quality seems to be slipping
The food came out super quick, but it was lukewarm at best. I lowered my expectations when I saw how fast it came out. But the service was great, and the food had good taste. It just could have been served hot. The rice was just blah. Nothing special....seemed like steamed white rice.
Great food. Overall enjoyed the experience. Will definitely come back.
Everything excellent as usual
Went for my birthday last night and it was absolutely amazing. Our waitress was so attentive, so amazing, and gave us incredible recommendations. We will 100% be back soon!
The restaurant is situated in front of the Tom Thumb and a series of shops. Parking is ample. Reservations are recommended. Staff is attentive and personable. The food is authentic, delicious and fairly reasonable. Entrees are around $$-$$$. I really enjoyed the verde pozole.
2nd time to eat at Mesa Maya. Food is very good and fair priced. The margs are just average and overpriced.
Service was slow however probably due to the restaurant full of patrons
The food and service was great, but my car window was smashed out front. Another car a few spots down had their car window smashed too. The restaurant said they do not have cameras. Wish they invested in this for their customers!
Have eaten here many times and the food is always delicious and service excellent! If you want to try something other than Tex-Mex, then I highly recommend Meso Maya. So far I don't have a favorite dish yet as I have enjoyed every one that I've ordered so far: pollo con mole, enchiladas del mar, chuleta, etc.
Try any of chef speciality Boudin's. I personally recommend the pollo.
We celebrated my nieces 16th birthday here yesterday and it was wonderful. Although the food is more authentic Mexican they did a great job
Great place to get some delicious food that isn't your normal texmex place around town! Everything we had between the margaritas, appetizers, entrees and desserts were on point.
We had a great dinner! Thank you!
Great staff and food!
Food was incredible, was better than the ambiance made it seem. Will happily go back.
We came here from out of town for my father-in-law's birthday. The food and service were great. The food was also a great value. We would definitely come back.
Meso Maya has become one of my favorite places in Ft Worth. It's a great balance of beyond-TexMex chef-designed food, a very nice easy to find/park at facility and competent staff. The specialty drinks are a treat also. If there's a better place nearby.....I haven't found it.
Everything was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the property is beautiful. We ate outside and it was very nice.
Great place to go to for family and friend get togethers!
Had family come into town, loved the food, patio was great and we even had an 8 month old with us and they were very accommodating
The food was excellent. Beef and Chicken Fajitas. The seasoning was good and the meet was moist. Large pieces of both the meat and chicken. Sides were fresh. Alejandro was a great waiter.
Wonderfully prepared food and great service
Wonderful experience! Poblano enchiladas were absolutely fantastic, ambiance on outdoor patio was peaceful and beautiful. Chips and salsa were the best I’ve EVER had!
Birthday lunch on the patio. Great food snd great service.
We dine here regularly.
Exceptional food and service (Ryan). We can’t wait to return.
The food was great as always and the cucumber margarita is our fave!
We throughly enjoyed our meal and our waiter, Hector was great, he had a nice, welcoming personality, was very attentive and knowledgeable! Good times!
Absolutely wonderful!!! Drinks were beautiful and tasty, food was delicious. Our server Andrea was so kind and informative about the menu and history of Meso Maya- we can't wait to go back.
We were celebrating my daughter’s 20th birthday, food was delicious and the service experience was exceptional.!
The homemade corn tortillas are delicious. The prices are very fair . The drinks were very good. The waiter was very nice . The food was very good..
Went there with a 7:45 reservation. Despite multiple open tables, we were told we had to sit in a small booth in the back that was a challenge for our party to sit or wait 30 more minutes for a table.
The staff was rude and not accommodating! We will never go back. Too many other good Mexican restaurants in town to dine!!
