Third time for us at Michael Nadra. Friendly reception. Restaurant nearly empty, very very quiet atmosphere... a little too quiet. House champagne average. Bottle Côte Rotie excellent. Meat very well cooked. Vegs al dente. Bread not good: quality to be improved asap. It was snowing outside (fortunately) and quite freezing in the restaurant.
Had an absolutely fabulous meal and experience. Very attentive but, not intrusive service and the highest quality food in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Excellent drinks, wine pairings too. For all of that, you would expect to pay a lot and we did but, I really feel like it was money well spent and would go back when I return to London.
Excellent service, Excellent food.
My husband came here for his Stag August 2016 & highly recommended it. I was not disappointed. Great quality, good portion size and incredible flavour.
The staff were attentive & would recommend & return.
Pleasant place with pleasant food but not particularly special. The staff were good humoured.
Every one of our dishes (4 people, 6 dishes) was exciting, appetising & flawlessly presented. We loved it
The food is always superb, the service cannot be faulted and the dining area is pleasantly spacious. The lunch menu is extraordinarily good value. Definitely worth a visit.
The food was excellent and the service really poor.
Poor service : the waitresses were arguing several time , quite loudly , not far from our table.
The first round of drinks arrived after the food and the second round when we had almost finished eating . Some plates/drinks were served passing in front of us , instead of being served from the side.
Delicious food for a reasonable price.
So this is a pity and hopefully in the future the service will improved.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal here, with charming attentive service. There was a very friendly vibe, even though the place was fairly empty. Our food was very well presented, full of flavour and made with good fresh ingredients - especially the tuna sashimi - always a good test! We were offered wine tastings to help us make our decision on our wine choice, which arrived in an elegant 'dumpy' decanter. My partner was also given a special birthday dessert with a candle - a very kind gesture. All in a we had a delightful evening. Thank you. Looking forward to a return visit.
Our 4th visit and remains one of our favourite restaurants worldwide. The quality of the food and cooking together with the professional but relaxed service are consistently excellent. The prices are very reasonable and a fraction of what one would expect to pay on the West End. The fact that the restaurant accepts open table dining cheques is a bonus as many restaurants don't!
Found this restaurant online when I was looking for a place to have lunch with a friend not to far from Camden. So glad I did.
The restaurant was quiet when I arrived and throughout lunch, after having my coat suited, I waited for my friend at the bar and had one of the best Negronis I've ever had. Superb.
We ordered from the fixed menu (2 courses for £23), no desserts or wine.
First courses - my friend has a (very) green soup with broccoli and kale, he said it was good, but not great. On the other hand, my salmon cevicce with octopus and citrus touches was sublime. Fresh and tasty.
For mains my friend had the fillet steak which he loved and I had steamed seabass with truffle crisps - again, divine.
Throughout the meal the service was fantastic, just the right balance of professionalism and friendliness. The restaurant is laid out nicely, basically split into 3 rooms, one of which would be perfect for a group event.
Overall, had an amazing time and would definitely return.
PS - sorry I didn't take any photos
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious. The duck breast was cooked to perfection. The kids loved their meal too, saying that it was the best fish and chips ever. The staff could not have been more friendly and attentive. Altogether, a great restaurant and the lunch menu is good value for high quality food. The only let down is that the dining room is a rather soulless, basement room.
The go to restaurant in London. A hidden gem. All staff friendly and very knowledgable. Treated my guests and I like royalty. Michael Nadra the chef made a special dairy free dessert just for me. He is approachable and came to our table. Everyone very happy and will be coming back. Will always be my favourite restaurant.
The food is excellent and the ambience can be enjoyed in a variety of occasions.
The food was so delicious and the service was professional yet relaxed and charming ,
we had a lovely Sunday afternoon at Michael Nadra , Primrose Hill .
Excellent food. Great experience. Lovely neighbourhood place
This is my first ever review I have written on Open Table and I am doing it only because Michael Nadra went far beyond my expectations in every respect.
I picked it for a special occasion and had a wonderful date with my girlfriend. The venue was intimate and well-decorated, the background music was just right, and we spent 3.5 hours dining and enjoying ourselves over cocktails, wine and food.
The food was truly outstanding and good value at that. My girlfriend had the Wagyu steak (which I stole a bit of and it pretty much melted in my mouth), and I would honestly give it a 10/10. I went for the lamb (also top-notch). The starter and desert I ordered (ceviche and cheesecake, respectively) were both innovatively and beautifully presented as well as being delicious.
I had one question and followed up with the restaurant after, and Michael personally answered in a prompt and professional manner and made me feel like he really did care about all aspects of the customer experience. From him all the way down to the waiters, the service was first-rate, attentive and helpful.
I am going to recommend this restaurant to absolutely everyone I know - I really do believe that it, and Michael, do an outstanding job and deserve praise and recognition.
A really pleasant surprise north of Regents Park. Nice environment and decor, creative menu, food beautifully prepared and really nice wine and cocktail list. A first class dining experience. Two minor quibbles but for the restaurant: (1) lose the rotating colored light show in the dining room - it’s a bit tacky and not reflective of the quality dining experience, and (2) one of our servers was clearly sick (stuffy nose and sniffly), and sick people should not be interacting with customers or serving food. These were the only things that kept this from being an all-around 5-star experience.
We booked NYE dinner as it was close to the park where we wanted to see the fireworks from. The food was exceptional! The same with the ambience. Only let down were the waiting staff who were running around all the time, clearly stressed out and quite inexperienced. We got bread with no butter, dirty wine glass and they did not know their wines. Would definitely go back for the quality of food but felt a bit short changed at £100 a head for the service we received.
We had an excellent New Year’s Eve meal! The food was absolutely delicious, with a well-balanced and beautifully presented tasting menu. Our waitress was delightful - extremely cheerful and helpful. Although we are fairly regular diners here we will be back again soon!
Top notch in all respects and a great way to end 2017
We’ve been going to Michael Nadra Primrose Hill for some time, but on this occasion found it disappointing. The welcome by the young manageress we hadn’t seen before seemed synthetic, the Greek waiter we hadn’t seen before couldn’t despite repeated attempts connect with the idea that the wine we wanted was the Barolo, even though it’s a widely known name, the food was so so and less good value for the price than before, and altogether, even though we think Michael Nadra himself is a very good chef with interesting ideas and an engaging host when he’s at the place, and have always wanted his Primrose Hill restaurant, which seems to have been struggling, to succeed, the experience left us wondering about coming again.
Enjoyable dining pleasure - plenty of choice - will come back again
Lovely restaurant- great staff - friendly and delicious food. Will be back! :-)
As usual, the food was superb. Michael Nadra even came from the kitchen to listen to our requirements.
However, the standard of service was very poor. Waiters appeared ignorant of the menu and even presented food to the wrong tables. Off-hand attitude to diners and lack of training was disappointing. Food superb and the service here is usually very good - so this was dissappointing.
We are regular diners and have always loved the ambience, food and service; sadly this wasn’t the case this time. You had a huge Mexican/Spanish party in the open bar area with a live (very loud) band. I have no problems with people partying, but the noise was unbearable; we had to shout to be heard. Your own team apologised three times. We also had to fight to get to the bathrooms; I feel the area was seriously overcrowded. The party was in full flow however it appeared they took the priority as the service we received at our table was slow at best: waiting to order, empty glasses etc.
If we had known we then could have accepted or not, but just to hear the party start with the huge noise was disappointing.
Paying the bill was also a mess; your payment card machines could not pick up signal in the rear dining area, but we couldn’t get anywhere near the main bar area to pay; my payment was declined 4 times until I could get to the bar wi-fi signal. All in all a rough night apart from the excellent food.
Outstanding dishes were let down by mediocre service. The hostess was great but the two waiters left a lot to be desired. A couple of examples: My husband's meal was almost cold by the time he attracted the waiter's attention and salt and pepper was eventually lobbed at the table. The cheese board was for us the share - not sure why we had to ask for plates. Service wan't bad enough to complain but neither was it good enough for the type of restaurant. It wasn't that busy that they could justify the lack of attention. We came away feeling sadly let down on this occasion.
Absolutely stunning food but do not visit the WC. Terrible!
It's a very good restaurant with delicious food and a credit to the area.
The food is amazing!!!!
But their service is rediculuously slow!!! Everything took way to long. It’s took 40min to be served a drink in an empty restaurant and courses were so slow being served.
So SAD as the food and venue is FAB!!!
Staff need to be trained better.
Lovely evening here . Superb food in a lovely atmosphere.
Michael Nadra is a very fine cook. The food is delicious and the price is good value. I would highly recommend the restaurant.
One of the worst food ever tried, at Par to a school meal (gone wrong...)
No passion for food, no interest in good ingredient. Save your money and your health....
PS great location on the Camden Canal
This is a fantastic restaurant in all ways. Food great, ambience great, service brilliant
A real gem. I used to visit when it was Sardo Canale, and after a few years away was really happy to find that Nadra fils have raised the bar even further. Wonderful service, great bar, and creative menu. Lucky NW1
Sat and lingered for many hours Sunday afternoon in the garden. Quite reasonable prices given the quality and generous quantities of the food. Solid wine list. This restaurant deserves more attention away from just special occasion diners. Chef Nadra is an excellent host.
Maybe we got them on a bad day but service was chaotic and slow. We didn’t have the energy to order desserts after such long waits for everything so came home & ate ice cream. It used to be so much better. Food was good and it was very good value for money if you could excuse the snail pace of service
We have a lovely evening. Great cocktails to start then we had the tasting menu and matched wines which was delicious. Our only disappointment was that some of the waiting service was inadequate one of our waiters was excellent, knowledgeable and friendly the other wasn't.
Amazing food. The waiter was passionate about his job and the service was outstanding.
I am not sure what happened, but service just seemed to be off on the night we ate there. It took about 40 minutes from being seated to take our food order with a lot of minor mishaps along the way. Unfortunately this detracted from the meal.
Now dined 6 times in the last couple of months and has become a firm favourite. Kitchen always on form and the wine and cocktails list shows commitment and imagination. Service genuinely warm.
A real asset for Primrose Hill
