Disappointed. I love Millie’s but the service wasn’t good. We had to find go and find a waiter to order after waiting ages with no staff in sight. Then we had to go get our wine twice as our glasses were empty.
I brought friends that were visiting from the USA. I arranged a TAB with the waiter after explaining I wanted to pay but my friends would argue so charge my card without making them aware at the end of the meal.
After making the effort to open the tab he forgot to charge it and presented the bill to my friends and although I gave him my tab number he charged them !! So frustrating
Very pleasant lunch. I am a vegetarian and there weren't many options on the menu but my selection was extremely well done and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive and all in all I was pleased with Millies. Would I return? Yes. Would I like them to put a couple more vegetarian choices on the menu? Definitely.
Staff were great and so was the food. Loved the swing band and the dancing - fantastic atmosphere.
Great service, music and ambiance. We went for a group booking and really enjoyed it.
Would highly recommend.
Second time eating at Millie's Lounge and both times were great. I used to work in the building 25 years ago when it was a bank and it is lovely to see they have retained all the original features. A big dose of nostalgia for me.
The first time I ate here it was with on a girly night out and it was so good I came back with my daughter and a friend to celebrate her birthday.
The food is good at Millie's lounge, I would go there just for their potted shrimp with sour dough and their fish and chips with mushy peas is top rate! They even had a gluten free option for cheeseburger (my daughter), she loved it and it is hard to get this 15 year old to approve of anything these days!!
My only gripe would be they put ice in the drinks after we requested they did not, Remy Martin needs to be drunk straight. But that is a minor gripe. I would highly recommend and I will be going there again......soon!
Generally a lovely place
We got there and were placed on a table which had been set and right next to where they keep the water and cutlery (even though there was plenty of tables free).
It then took about 25 minutes for someone to come over asked if we would like to order and we asked for 5 minutes more to decide. No One came back for another 15 minutes and it was a different waiter this time.
We then ordered drinks and food. Our food turned up half hour later and it was only then we realised that our drinks had not been served. A waiter went to check and told it that they had ran out of the lager we ordered and apologised for the fact no one had told us or offered us an alternative.
Food was expensive and under average. It’s just another London restaurant that will always be visited because of its location and beautiful decor. Food, price and service is under average.
I was aware before visiting that the restaurants were in the old banking hall what I hadn’t anticipated was the level of background noise as my friend & I chatted especially when the varied live entertainment commenced which is provided Monday to Fruday frim 18.30 so I was informed. Nevertheless I would definitely dine here again as overall the ambience, food and service was excellent.
I first came to the tea 6 months ago and it was lovely, however my return on Monday was unfortunately disappointing as the sandwich selection has become more limited and the scones appear to be no longer fresh and in parts hard as if they had been reheated or something. This is not the kind of quality you expect from a 5 star hotel restaurant and not in keeping with the rest of the high quality food at the Ned.
First time visiting the Ned, had a lovely time, can wait to return
Food was good and decor is lovely. However they did not have what I wanted to order left so had to choose something else. Then the order was very late and also incorrect and other things were forgotten. Although they were apologetic about the lateness I would expect a better level of service overall for the cost of the food.
Great spot for after work drinks and music, great bar staff and cocktails!
It is full of City finance people and some residents of the high-end hotel. Food quality is ok but nothing spectacular. Service is hit & miss; some waiters/ess are nice and friendly but some are just "I am here because I need a job and I am not enjoying it. What do you want?". It can become noisy.
I treated my sister to a birthday meal and was great as per usual.
Normally love this and had breakfast yesterday at 8am. Unfortunately my client had to wait 45 minutes for her boiled egg which rather took the edge off it. The waiter in fact came back to our table and asked what we'd ordered so I'm guessing the order hadn't been put through. Bit of a shame as I normally love this place.
It was the first time I had been in The Ned and it definitely did not disappoint!
Great service and a great atmosphere.
Excellent service, food was lovely, very relaxing lounge area. Great ambience about the place. Loved the pianist playing while eating. Beautiful hotel which kept some of the original decor. A great way to enjoy gathering with friends or family,
The staff can’t cope with the size and scale of restaurant. Easy to get lost and ignored in the space. Mains came out 30 minutes after the starters - they looked terrible and dried out so refused them. Manager did not charge us for the starters we had (which were good) but will definitely not be returning.
I made a booking on Friday afternoon at 4 to meet with clients. When booking, it was clear that the reservation was for 2 hours. After one hour, an employee came up to the table and told us that we would need to leave in the next 10 minutes- we had just ordered a bottle of wine (after a round of cocktails) which was served 5 minutes prior. When I queried the reason, he said that the 2 hour booking was only with food. We were not offered a menu and when I asked for one, he sighed loudly and stomped away from the table. As we were not finished with our meeting and had to close off items in advance of the weekend, I ordered a salad so that we could finish our conversation. I found this individual to be incredibly rude and unwelcoming. There were multiple tables of men who were sitting around drinking pints (both before we arrived and after we left), I wonder why they were not treated so rudely or held to the same 'rules'? I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future.
Great food and venue. Absolutely love the ned. The music was a little loud as our table was close to the live music. It was difficult to hear each other at times. Overall, really enjoyed it.
Fabulous place to eat and drink! Food is gorgeous the band is delightful and the drinks are great. However do not have a Gin & Tonic! The tonic is awful! :-(
We had a lovely evening celebrating our wedding anniversary. Can’t wait to go back
Only three choices of sandwiches in the champagne afternoon tea. A larger selection would be a big improvement. The service was great and the live music was very much appreciated. Would recommend The Ned for more than just Millie's Lounge.
Quality food, service excellent, atmosphere relaxed
Went here for afternoon tea to celebrate my mums birthday. Fantastic service loved every minute. Value for money would definitely recommend. Staff could not have been more attentive. Thank you
Really lovely place for lunch celebrating our friend's birthday, great atmosphere & excellent service
My friend and I had a good time although she had to send back her burger because it was under cooked (she asked for 'well done'). The dessert, lemon sponge, was very nice and the house rose was a good quality. We found it a bit noisy and the pianist/singer was a bit off key. However, the negatives were outweighed by the friendly and helpful staff and very good facilities. Will pay another visit to sample one of the other sections.
Great Breakfast, excellent service and great value
Good breakfast as always. Avo on toast very good with good coffee
Beautiful building, we visited on a Monday evening to celebrate daughters birthday. Seating felt cramped for three people, didn’t feel suitable for three people eating and having drinks bearing in mind we did tell them in advance was for a birthday.
Shame as we were very much looking forward to our evening.
Amazing staff and great atmosphere ( especially the band )
Out of my various visits to The Ned this occasion was the most disappointing which is a shame as I will now consider whether or not to return to Millie’s.
We were served by the rudest waiter I have come across in London whom snatched menus from mine and my guest’s hands, slammed cutlery on the table, huffed and puffed as we chose our meals and hung his head in despair while we decided upon sides.
The waiter served us the incorrect champagne (unknown to us) and made an attempt to remove our half drunk glasses from the table in an attempt to sort the situation. As this point I had quite enough with the rude behaviour and fast food service therefore I called over another waiter to complain.
The first 45 minutes of the meal was not pleasant to say the least and the waiter’s frustration at the busy atmosphere and in-capability of controlling his mood swings caused us to feel uncomfortable and dissatisfied by our visit.
I prefer croissants and the pain au chocolat to be warmer. They were very cold.
Very good food. The service could have been better - two mistakes were made which were corrected but was a result of the waiter not taking time to listen to us. Also had to hound them to let us pay so we could leave. Live music was too loud in such an open room, made it difficult to hear my friend.
We went to Millie's Lounge with two babies and the staff made us feel very welcome indeed. They gave us a good table where we had room for the buggies and were very friendly.
Thanks Alexander for making our afternoon tea so very pleasant, your Canadian friends!
My wife and I had a wonderful time, food and service first class. We shall definitely be coming back in the near future with friends.
Great food great atmosphere great service staff very polite beautiful building 5 star dining good value
Food ok, service too too hasty. They practically want to serve before finishing reading menu, then want to take your plate before you are finished, then when done they quickly want you to leave the table. Waiters are very polite and friendly.
Very impressed with the Ned and the restaurant. We had a business dinner but it is a great environment whatever the occasion, highly recommended.
