While the service at Millie's lounge was good, the afternoon tea was overall a bit underwhelming. I presume sandwiches are made at the start of the day as they were hard and dry at the time of our 3pm sitting. Scones and cakes weren't the best either. It won't stop me, however, from going to The Ned as it has a lovely atmosphere.
We had a wonderful Birthday breakfast. Overall wonderful and the children loved it too.
The service was excellent. Food came out way too fast and made one feel hurried to eat, a five minute break between courses is usually nice. Too noisy due to the bar not being separate at all from eating area. As I have selected that I am going for anniversary we expected an anniversary dessert of some sort, or any acknowledgement.. which there was not. Also, did not enjoy sharing a sofa with someone else, very uncomfortable to sit and eat.
Excellent service and really good food - our family of 5 came for my daughter’s 20th birthday - she loved it and the ambience was great too. Would definitely recommend.
We love Jack Cohn and his team! I would like to win Best Customer of 2018 award for all my loyalty to Millies Lounge!
Initially seated in a very very cold seated area that had a cold fan blowing from behind. Food was warm to cold not hot. Fish and chips. Plate cold mushy peas cold. Then fish was cooked but only warm
New Year’s Day. Not busy. Nice waiter. Family outing. Every enjoyable
Not as swish as I was expecting, but had a lovely time regardless. We had hoped for the Sunday feast, but this wasn't running in the festive period, and they don't offer Afternoon Tea on Sunday either. As a result, the menu was a little underwhelming, the staff were lovely. The bill came to around £65 each - 1 course, 1 cocktail, 1 coffee each, and a bottle of wine between 3. Would poss go back to try the Sunday lunch, or afternoon tea. Was a good experience though and a beautiful building, am glad we tried it.
Great ambience while the live music is playing, however during band breaks background music is very quiet and atmosphere turns a little dull.
Food is of average quality but due to the fairly reasonable price for such a grand venue that wasn’t surprising.
Our table service however was incredibly poor for a venue of this level, especially as we were there during a quieter period.
All in all a nice night out in a nice venue but nothing incredible.
Didn’t like having to hand my card over to the barman to keep wile we were there. The sandwiches were stale they had to go back and some more brought out, we asked for a couple of plain ham ones but they said they didn’t do it, expensive sandwich and cake that just weren’t nice, loved the Ned itself just wouldn’t have afternoon tea there again.
Good food, Great ambiance......Great for a good lunch.
Excellent location, luxurious and anamazing ambiance, great service and great value for money. I visit many places for business and The Ned is one of the best.
Personally, I found Millie’s rather average. The service is very slow, the menu is a distinctly British menu which is fine but I wouldn’t say they did anything superb with any of the classics. If anything, they are a little on the mean side when it comes to portions so food that should be considered “hearty” ends up being a posh imitation with no added flair.
£45 for a bottle of mediocre Prosecco with service on top is out of control. Serving it luke warm and the waiter telling us that it’s because the cellar manager chills it to room temperature to “preserve” it is just bizarre.
Anyway, I have been to the other restaurants in the Ned many times before and found no fault but I won’t be going back to this one again.
The Ned is an amazing venue but this restaurant was distinctly average and the menu even more so.
The white wine was not chilled the roast potatoes were like rocks the steak was just chewy
I love The Ned - the service and food is always impeccable and so it was our first choice for an informal baby shower we were throwing for one of my friends. We were looked after beautifully on the day and given we don’t drink or eat meat, the team were brilliant at organising alternatives for us all including the Mother-To-Be who obviously can’t eat everything that she would normally be able to do. My only gripe with a small ‘g’ was that the desserts weren’t as great as they normally are. It’s natural that you would alter the menu/type of cakes given it was Christmas but it meant that the cakes weren’t to the usual standard. A small but important point. I don’t really want to eat mince pies and reindeer cookies at what should be an afternoon tea. Somethings shouldn’t change despite what time of the year it is or at least to that extent :)
Fabulous Xmas vibe 🤶 well worth a visit we will return the reception staff were far the best very welcoming and lovely chap greeted us outside and assisted with luggage
We booked the afternoon tea for 2 since it was our anniversary, let me start by saying that the food was good indeed, the service on the other hand needs more work. I was very upset about the fact that my request for a note with a message to be added to my girlfriend’s side before we were sat down but this was forgotten. Upon leaving I checked with the hostess about this and was shown on their system that the request was there buuut they forgot, they did want to offer us a drink as an apology but that kind of defeats the purpose of an anniversary doesn’t it?
Overall the atmosphere was good, live music was good, slightly noisy for my taste tough. We would return but not on a special occasion since these “small” details seem to get lost in translation.
Had a voucher which I was told after the meal was not valid in December. Nowhere on the voucher does it say it is not valid in December. Pretty disappointed as I performed at The Ned that evening, but instead of being paid we were given vouchers. So to put these terms on the payment leaves a bad taste. The money is going straight back into your business anyway. Feels like a cheeky way to just not pay for your entertainment. Wouldn’t do it again.
A fight between 2 grown men
Charming restaurant with amazing food in Uber trendy City location. The Ned is a beautiful experience.
Too noisy! Bad service! Too expensive for what you get! Not worth the trip into London for!
Nice afternoon and evening. Only downer was being told we had to vacate the table after 2 hours, to then stand at the bar watching the table stay empty for another hour.......
Breakfast meeting at The Ned was recommended by and colleague and was the perfect place. Will be back.
Nice place with a buzzy atmosphere. Very busy and the seating is really odd should you happen to be a couple, you may end up being seated on a low sofa with a low arm chair around a tiny table. It doesn't feel comfortable eating food so low down. Food average, not really worth the price tag. But, can see why people like it as it's got a nice vibe.
Superb afternoon tea with champagne. Fantastic venue with great live music.
Rushed off table after 90 mins sharp - not a good look for a business meeting
Beautiful building and space, will definitely return.
The food and setting were excellent but the service was incredibly slow - we had to hail staff down every time we needed anything e.g. more drinks, pudding menu and the food took a long time to arrive. I would recommend going for a relaxed lunch with no time contraints
Jack and his team are doing a fabulous job at Millies Lounge - I am a regular customer and use the restaurant for business meetings as the location is perfect. My clients and I love the menu especially breakfast. The service is second to none and I would not hesitate to recommend the Ned, but especially Millies Lounge as the perfect venue for meet ups with clients and friends.
Lovely breakfast in beautiful surrounds. Service was excellent, possibly one of the best I've had in London. Food was tasty and filling, and there was a lovely selection of fresh-juices.
Very nice place with good food and fantastic service.
Food sub standard. Service poor
Loved it - Took my partner for her birthday meal and we were blown away by the experience and excellent service from our waiters.
2 hours to sit, eat and relax is not enough time. Greedy corporate company wanting to get as many customers in as they can. We were rush poured our wine, and told after finishing our main meal, whilst ordering our dessert that we only had 10 mins to get off the table. 5mins prior they’d happily allowed us to order another litre of wine, so we then had no coffee/desserts and had to quickly drink our wine.
On being given some stools to sit on in the bar we were then told that they were reserved for other guests and had to get off those. Later we see the restaurant manager chatting to those guests, perhaps friends of hers?
Terrible management but nice waitress who served us! Really disappointing
Our waitress was lovely and the food was good but not great. Our table was booked for 4pm but after asking 3 times (and confirming the booking via he sure and verbally) we were seated at 4:20. Lovely venue but front of house staff weren’t particularly good.
Arrived on time, but after my guest. We were left at the bar for an hour...became clear we had been forgotten. We were seated for lunch 90mins late, then warned they need the table back - like it was our fault! Regarding food, it's not a complex menu... my guest ordered the turkey xmas dinner, just as they finished their meal the gravy arrived. As we were ordering desert, we were reminded we will need to move...and then we were told to move - "maybe there's space at the bar".
I get it, the place is fabulous with super ambiance and you clearly don't need to worry about every reservation... for a while at least. At this stage my recommendation is "go for drinks, go somewhere else for food".
Really enjoyed breakfast and the space is incredible! We went there for 10:30 and stayed full 2 hours in peaceful and posh place. Jazz band went on too! What a treat! Gets a bit nosy after 1 as more people gets in.
The food was disappointing, I don’t think any of our group of 4 enjoyed it. No taste and small portions. Lots of rowdy people around us who kept disturbing our meal. One lady started resting on the back of my chair, then put her coat on it, then put her bottle of wine on our dinner table.
Band wasn’t enjoyable, strange taste in music. Felt like they wanted to get rid of us as soon as we sat down rushing our menu choices and kept coming to check on us every 2 minutes.
Things they have got right, there was one lovely polite waitress and great cloakroom service.
Nice atmosphere, in the heart of the Ned, and good service. Food was excellent too.
