Our table was very close to the bar. People were drunk and continued to bang into me, my husband and our table. The staff had asked people to move a couple of times away from us but it wasn’t their fault. The table we were seated at was ridiculously close to the bar. Food was ok but curry was served almost cold.
Walking into The Ned you are greeted with the most amazing atmosphere. It has a buzz without being overbearing. Millie’s is one of many restaurants inside. Typically British fayre with an elegant twist. Very reasonably priced. Not a large menu but enough choice to suit most.
We decided to stay on after we had eaten and were treated to an evening of live music.
We had brunch, however the afternoon tea looked incredible - so a great excuse to go back!
Impressive open space lounge, kind staff, lovely and warm. Seats are wonderful and inviting. Starting with the champagne that was clearly from the day before , almost had a vinegar taste. The staff provided me a new glass that was absolutely better. Remarkably that the champagne is not poored at the table. Not done in my opinion. You don’t know what you’re drinking and it’s not a Coca Cola, that’s for sure. The food on the trays was okay, but not outstanding, what you would expect here. The scones were a bit warm, which was perfect. The petit fours were not attractive enough and even a bit dry. The sandwiches nice, but with just enough filling and not a bit more. The loud conversations behind us at the centered bar gave the feeling we were at a local pub or train station. The privacy area you have around your table makes it not so exclusive.
It was nice but not worth the value.
The food was good and the service excellent, but our table was close to the crowded bar, so as soon as we sat down someone turned and spilt drink down my friends back. Being close to the crowded bar and the noise levels was off putting.
We sat at a small table which frankly isn't big enough for a lunch. 1/3 of my plate was hanging over the edge of the table which made for a challenging eating experience. My guest and I shared the Porterhouse steak which was disappointingly tough. I was sitting on a small sofa and my guest was sitting on a low cushioned chair which again didn't help with eating our lunch as we were low down in relation to the table height. I will eat at The Ned again but I will choose another area to dine in.
Good selection of food at a reasonable price; comfortable seating; attentive service. Definitely will return.
Visited for a mid week breakfast and was very happy with the experience. The food was exceptional and the service was outstanding
Loved it there so much, booked to go again. Went for afternoon tea with girl friends. Best I’ve ever had and I’ve had lots. We’ve decided to take other halves with us next time for Sunday lunch. Ticked all the boxes.
The food and service was good. We requested a nice table when booking as it was a celebration meal but we were seated next to the bar with people using the back of my seat as a coat stand. Peoples backsides were about 1foot from the table. We did eventually get moved but it was after being very persistent and seeking out our own table.
Great ambiance and good food. I and 4 friends went on a busy Saturday evening.
The food was very poor 3 people where there for dinner, every person sent there food back uneaten.
When we was asked if something was wrong we gave our complaint to be told they don’t normally have the problem.
Perfectly cooked steak, lovely environment. Millie's made for a perfect night out.
Afternoon tea was great! Celebrated friends birthday and she got a little ‘ recognition’ from the restaurant which was a nice touch. Food plentiful, with a second plate of the sandwiches included in price. Very attentive staff who were really busy on a wet Saturday afternoon. Live music all afternoon in a space which is enormous with several different bars and restaurants. Great atmosphere
Would suggest booking as the 1pm and 3pm sittings were full.
The ambiance is the main reason to be there..rest is complimentary
I love The Ned & love Millies! The atmosphere was great and made my friends birthdays very special!
Have been to Millie’s a few times. Went on Saturday for brunch with a friend - appalling service.
Kept waiting 20 minutes for our table and had to ask the receptionist what was happening. She seemed to have forgotten us irrespective of the fact that we had been sitting directly in front of her whilst waiting.
A guy took us to the main area, looked perplexed and abruptly said ‘wait here’. It was obvious that there was misinformation as to our table.
When he returned he said something which I could not hear. Those that have been to The Ned can appreciate that the noise level is high so I politely asked him to repeat. He was so rude in fact he was insulting. Speaking to me as if I came from Mars! My friend also said that behind my back the waiter was mimicking me.
Waitress came over and we explained what had happened. She was very nice and professional.
Food was very good as usual.
When we were finishing our coffee another waiter appeared and asked if we had finished as our table was needed. I said that we had waited 20 minutes for the table and how insulting the waiter had been. He said that I must have ‘misunderstood’ which was absolutely not the case.
First time ever I declined to pay the service charge. The general manager than appeared and was most apologetic which quite frankly was just to smooth things over so as we vacated the table.
Would I go back to The Ned - yes. Would I go back to Millie’s- never. No need for rudeness and training needs to be given with regard to table management and communication between staff.
As soon as you walked in you knew that it was going to be a great experience! First time at the Ned and we enjoyed every moment of it. Service and food were excellent - could not fault it, will definitely be back!
Fabulous venue, food and atmosphere. The food was prompt and the seating really comfortable. The only thing was they knew it was a celebration of a birthday and nothing was done for the event. Something small would have been special. All round a lovely experience again. I will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful evening .. every aspect was perfect and the staff are brilliant !!
Visiting for the 3rd time , on all other occasion our food was fantastic . Unfortunately not this time . All four of us were very disappointed
I’m a bit of a regular for afternoon tea at The Ned and I’ve always been totally satisfied with the whole experience. It’s a really nice way to spend a few hours with friends.
Nice buzzy atmosphere, just right for Friday lunch.
Waitress was very nice and helpful
Food very good
Small things- I shared a cheese board and plenty of cheese but a few more biscuits would have helped.
It’s awesome. Great vibe for an evening with friends.
I was really disappointed with the service. The were very abrupt, and when we were talking cleaned the table just did without saying excuse me. Was very rushed and when we said donyou Mind giving us a couple of minutes it was a huff! Made me feel like I wish I hadn’t wasted my money.
Cool elegance in the heart of the City. A fabulous place for cocktails or casual lunch
Chilled out evening with the band playing in the back ground . Great food , service , drinks and company . Have eaten here on a few occasions .
Went here for my friend’s birthday and they gave her a special birthday treat! Didn’t ask for that but they went out of their way to do that. Really appreciated that!!
Nice breakfast menu and great service. Would recommend
Love it here. It is noisy but that is because it is popular. The live music is always good. The staff are attentive despite the large numbers and the food is always prompt, hot and tasty.
The food was rubbish and not up to the standard expected compared to other Ned restaurants
Fantastic venue and one which I have used both commercially (client meetings) as well as personally (family & friends). Cannot recommend highly enough!
Great atmosphere and great food
We had a lovely time. We’d booked Afternoon Tea in Millie’s Lounge for a birthday & it didn’t disappoint. We were seated after a short wait (we had arrived early). The tea arrived quickly & was lovely, the waiting staff were attentive without being intrusive. All in all a great time was had!
Food, setting and company was fantastic. Waitress was sadly rude and inattentive.
We had drinks at the bar & the barman was great. It was easy to move to the table and take our tab with us. The service was good and the food was ok. The lobster was difficult to eat and could have been better prepared.
Good time was had... all round great place to come at lunch. They had no roast chicken (my favourite) the day we ate which was disappointing, but salmon was a good alternative.
Fantastic ambience and atmosphere in a fabulous room setting. Service was perfect.
Unfortunately my wife had to send the rib eye back as it was cold and rare. Replacement was perfect medium rare and piping hot.
Lamb was perfect.
Excellent wine selection.
Would highly recommend and will return.
It’s open plan and that’s not stated anywhere when looking up the venue. There was no concierge on the main doors and felt like a free for all, people walking all around in all different directions. Felt like we were at a train station!
Excellent relaxed afternoon tea. The live music and champagne made it that little bit extra special. Service was fantastic- very attentive.
Lovely atmosphere as always and a comfortable seat for breakfast
