The Ned is a stunning hotel located in The City, the oldest part of London. Previously the disused Midland Bank Building, The Ned is a spectacular piece of architecture featuring incredible high ceilings and opulent decor.
Afternoon Tea is a luxurious affair, served in Millie's Lounge in the Grand Banking Hall. Paying tribute to the building's history as a bank, Millie's Lounge features plush seating and green marble pillars.
Delicious breakfast and great service. We used the Eat Out to Help Out scheme so it was also very good value!
Me and my boyfriend decided to have afternoon tea at Millie’s Lounge and was amazing. Attentive and friendly service, the place looked classy with a relaxing vibe, overall an interesting experience.
steak was too over seasoned and was just about edible. Waited ages for drinks order to be taken and longer for them to be brought over. Had to remind the waiter on both occasions drinks were ordered and we were still waiting. not a great experience.
Lunch with my mom
Amazing venue, fantastic food and fabulous service! The team at Millies are the best. We have already booked to return.
Very attentive and informative staff. Socially distancing was maintained and enforced without being obvious in nature.
Nice venue and some lovely staff working in difficult times for them. Really enjoyed our food & drinks. Lovely environment. Would go back!
Good time here I’d def recommend.. no people standing around at the bar meant the noise was low which was a bonus
Fabulous Caesar Salad and the fish and chips had a lovely crispy batter.
Very nice place to go,
Food (Fish &Chips) was fabulous.
Only a 2 min walk from Bank tube station too!
It was the hottest day of the year (so far) but the ambience was cool and relaxed. The staff were friendly and attentive and the menu though a little limited was nicely presented and tasty. We will certainly return.
As always, perfect.
Afternoon tea was OK, not wow by any means (go to Brown hotel for wow), service was average (first waiter said we could only have one tea the second said you can choose a new tea at refill stage) but setting is lovely and with social distancing rules in place it’s much more pleasant and leas jam packed in there
The ambience is surely different to what it was before reopening (and for this the Ned is surely not to blame) however a better service would have helped to create an overall better experience. We were seated to a table with no napkins nd sugar and had to waive for waiters a several times to get their attention. Our table was right next to the Speakers - there was no live music as usual but hey ho, there was a third of customers - and kept on making a very annoying loud noise. On the other hand the food was great and I noticed a better selection of cakes for the afternoon tea, which were all delicious!
Waitress was fantastic! Also accommodated my gluten free guest with no drama!
The service was a lot slower than I would have expected when only half full.
Really enjoying thank you. Looking to join the membership and visit more often.
Server was rude. Was very empty and still took a long time to be served.
Maybe the kitchen is still adjusting after reopening. The bread was a bit dry and the roast chicken was over cooked compare to usual. The food was definitely not up to the standards before.
Been to the Ned on many occasions... enjoyed being served Sunday lunch instead of the feast ... which for me is more enjoyable.
Food was good as always ... just a few things I found this time .... roast was very dry .. the smallest pot of grave with your lunch we did request more which did not arrive sadly. Also maybe just my choice was wrong I ordered Eaton mess for dessert... this looked like a four year olds dessert .... not for me ...
Having said that we will return as over all a lovely afternoon. And as it was newly opened after the Covid outbreak found it clean and safe.
Lovely brunch and very friendly staff. Everyone was very accommodating, especially with our baby.
Very nice evening. Quieter than usual Due to less people being out during COVID-19
Lovely service, food and venue. Looking forward to going back again soon
A very enjoyable experience.Good food ,excellent service in a wonderful setting.
The food served was delicious and the ambiance was lovely but bear in mind that my friend and I went shortly after the easing of the lockdown. Before the global pandemic, this place is usually overcrowded and too noisy. What lets the experience down was the rudeness from the staff and them casually forgetting about our requests. They lack the basic dining etiquette layout and procedures. Two of the staff - the Italian men - were fantastic - very polite, pleasant and professional in their behaviour. It was very clear they knew what they were doing and also enjoyed their job. However, there were a few rude female staff.
I love The Ned everything about it is classy!
The service is fantastic and the food is to die for...
Unusually quiet but understandable in current climate. Service was amazing! Food superb as always. Highly appreciative of COVID spread prevention efforts. Worry free dining. Will be back soon.
Our break lockdown meal was a bit surreal to be honest and the ‘Feast’ was a bit of a disappointment after our previous visits with no buffet and a pretty small menu to chose from.
Vegetables were a let down with thick carrots which reminded me of school dinners.
Service was attentive but the atmosphere was morbid frankly.
Fabulous Sunday Lunch. It was our first meal out after lockdown and we wanted to go somewhere we felt would have lots of safety measures and we chose the right place. Plenty space, hand sanitiser and easy qr code menu. The three course lunch was great value and the staff were really helpful and took great care of everyone Our waitress was particularly lovely. We will be back soon.
Great food. Lovely service. A fitting breakfast to end a lock down. Thanks guys.
After lockdown it was a treat to be out! Staff really made us feel welcome. Food excellent and ambiance very good considering.
It was lovely
Great lunch with huge helpings!
Thought it was good value for money for a great city lunch.
The lady who served us was very attentive and professional, we will be returning.
Lovely tea and great value compared to other overpriced afternoon teas in the city. Great ambience, right noise level
Really enjoyed our afternoon. At times, service was a bit slow, but it didn't affect our overall experience.
It was ok, not the best, not the worst. There are other much nicer restaurants in The Ned.
Great venue - but the food offering at Millie's is not so great: A bit school dinner-ish in my opinion. Maybe we should have gone into one of the other restaurant areas at the NED? However - we enjoyed the evening very much: Live music - great, and service - very good.
Good food and great service. Really friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable setting and live music as usual.
Really good venue with great food. Can get noisy once the whole of The Ned starts to fill up and the live music starts but didn’t stop us having a really good afternoon.
Was not impressed with breakfast here . Service was ok but nothing special . Mushrooms on toast with poached egg was fine but not super tasty which they have to be if you are charging that much . No salt and pepper pots on table and one butter between two .
I would prefer the Ivy or Duck and Waffle next time
