Mimi’s Bakehouse is a second-generation family business established in Edinburgh in 2010, when Michelle Phillips sold her family home to open a bakery café in Leith. We have gone on to build a local success story brand that gives people a ‘hug when they walk in the door’ as the original café has since doubled in size and the business has gained five more shops, a successful website selling cakes online and a concession at Archerfield Walled Garden. We also opened an industrial bakery in March 2020, out of which most online trade is produced for fulfilment. Mimi’s Bakehouse has become one of Edinburgh’s best-loved bakeries and an award-winning brand which is a well-known “feel good” place to visit, while remaining small enough to go the extra mile and try new things.
We serve brunch, afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

Think Afternoon Tea but with a morning twist - the perfect weekend brunch treat. Award-winning cheese scones, irresistible French toast fingers with maple syrup, mini shakshuka pots, we could go on! Perfectly paired with an Eteaket tea of your choice. Available at Leith on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 12.00pm - now that's something worth getting out of bed for! We require 48 hours notice for all bookings.

Afternoon Tea brings together the best of Mimi’s Bakehouse classics, from handmade scones with clotted cream and jam to fluffy cupcakes and nostalgic traybakes served alongside a curated list of tea from Edinburgh’s Eteaket Tea. Our award-winning Afternoon Tea experience is currently available at Mimi’s Bakehouse, Leith and Corstorphine seven days a week. Due to high levels of demand, booking is recommended. We require 48 hours for all bookings. Make it extra special with a glass of prosecco, a locally sourced gin and tonic or a speciality coffee from Edinburgh’s own Machina Coffee.

This was a birthday treat for my mum and we both had an amazing time. We chose the cocktail afternoon tea and it was so tasty! We ate every bit and the cocktails were lovely. We were attended to just the right amount and the staff were so friendly. It was a lovely little cafe and it was our first time here we will definitely be back. Thanks for making it a lovely day! Oh and the bday cupcake was a lovely touch :)

I've been to Mimi's before in Leith. We went yesterday for my daughter's 13th birthday. The service was really poor. It did not appear to be too busy however we were not given menus until we asked for them after 10 minutes waiting and trying to get attention of staff. The staff were quite friendly but kept getting our order wrong and we had to repeatedly remind them what we had asked for ask where my husband's order was and then my order was messed up. The table next to us got up and left after being repeatedly ignored as well. It was really disappointing as I'd hoped it would have been a lovely visit but sadly we were just keen to pay and go. I had to go up to pay as staff were either in the back or standing around the area where the cakes were.

A bit disappointing. Went for a special occasion to use an afternoon tea for 2 voucher and was told no need to book specifically on the phone in the morning. On arrival service was slow and people at tables next to us got served before us. We were then told we couldn’t have afternoon tea as we hadn’t booked. After explaining I was told we didn’t need to book after around 5 minutes we were told we could have it. The food was very average, the sandwich bread was dry. Scones were good. We felt it was very overpriced for what it was and the cakes were nowhere near as good as they used to be. A shame really as it was supposed to be a real treat.

Delicious brunch at Mimi's. I do miss the old wallpaper in the bakehouse though. Would highly recommend Mimi's to anyone!

Eaten at Mimi’s many times but not for a while. Wife had large breakfast bap, I had Scottish Breakfast. Poached eggs were over cooked (solid yokes), potatoe scones were over cooked (like bits of hardboard), Ayrshire bacon was over cooked (shrivelled and dry). The restaurant was pretty empty so can only assume the food had been sitting under a heat lamp in the kitchen for hours - had better at budget hotel breakfast buffets. Will be a long time before we return.

No complaints about food and service. Lovely scones and traybakes and good coffee. Friendly staff were attentive. What lets this cafe down is the toilets which are very basic with little privacy between male and female amenities. Definitely need upgrading.

A friend was coming for the weekend...and we thought brunch out would be fun. We did some online research and saw the "beforenoon tea", which sounded novel and local. It was showing on the website as being £20 per head, with an option for champagne... ...but when we got there, it turns out it was £25 a head not £20...but we went ahead. Then, when it arrived, the "mini morning roll" was not "mini" in any way...it was HUGE...and it arrived at the same time as everything else - so it had to be eaten first unless you like cold, congealed bacon and egg (we passed on the shashlika). The need to eat the roll immediately meant the "warm scone" was not warm by the time we got to it...and neither was the French Toast....although in the end, it turned out that the (cold) French Toast was the best part of the whole thing! By the time we'd forced down the "warm" food in a hurry, the idea of cake was too much...so we had the yogurt pot and left it at that. When we got home, I showed my husband photos of the whole "beforenoon tea" thinking the quantity was much more a bloke thing and he'd love the idea...but he was like "no way...yes, the bacon roll looks good enough, even if the bacon looks a little burnt...but I'd want three of them and a big mug of tea. ...but nah to the rest of it..." so...our conclusion is that it's it's for man-size appetites but with girlie appeal of an afternoon tea...but that it all comes at once, which is just wrong. Aye, idea got my attention...but it was a disappointing experience in terms of brunch in a city with SO many fantastic brunch offerings. Pity.
