Mimmo La Bufala
Sat for 30 minutes without even getting a glass of water. Seems like they only had 1 waiter in the restaurant. We had to leave without eating (or even ordering), but had a fantastic Indian meal next door.
Food is very good and good portions. Service leaves a lot to be desired. 20 minute wait for the table. 30 minutes to order a drink. Keep having to call staff over to order more drinks. No offer of dessert. 20 minutes (after asking 3 times) wait for the bill. Hire a couple more staff and train them - then you’ve got a perfect Italian restaurant.
Loved the meal - both starters and main course. However, the Tiramisu did not come to the same standard. It was too sweet and not tasty . THe semifreddo wa\s just delicious. Next time go for it and forget the tiramisu
1st time going and the restaurant was nice inside.
The pizza I had , La Reale was too salty but my partner loved it. Our waitress was polite.
Nice ambience and great loacation - next to the Heath if you want to walk off the calories :)
I’d go again to try another dish.
Food was good but expensive for what it was. The service was awful. We waited 35 minutes to place our order and the food arrived after 45 minutes (pasta). The waitress was busy discussing her bracelets with customers and was very negligent of other customers.
Lovely service, look forward to coming regularly
We were recommended by a friend for an authentic Italian experience for lunch and Mimmo La Bufala most certainly did not disappoint us. Super selection on the menu and good wine list. The service was not rushed but still attentive. Lovely ambience and we had a super meal.
The food here is beyond exceptional and the atmosphere was just as amazing on our last visit.
Always have a wonderful experience. Great location. Pizza and risotto are delicious! Authentic. Very good portions. Fast and polite service. Our go-to restaurant for Italian food.
My friend and I went to the restaurant for an early dinner. The service was attentive, the owner was welcoming. The food was average, the wine was delicious. I think the food (other than pizza and pasta) was overpriced for what it represented. There was not much flavour in dishes we ordered. It is a shame as the atmosphere was good and relaxing.
We have been several times and unfortunately this time was very disappointing the pizza was insipid lacking flavour and we waited long for our order to be taken and there were only 2 more tables
Looooved the atmosphere and the delicious food
The service was the perfect balance between attentiveness and intimacy.
The food was delectable. The vibe was delightful. Mimmo staff added the extra to ordinary. I will be back again and again and again!
Such a nice little restaurant with good wine and good food. No A/C though so gets very hot in summer
Had it not been for the cigarette smoke that wafted straight into the restaurant on a balmy evening when the windows were open (quite rightly), the experience would have been excellent. Second hand smoke is not only deadly; it also ruins the smell and taste of food. Ban smoking inside AND OUTSIDE!
Such a cute restaurant and very good food. It is not air conditioned so in the summer best to sit by the windows or outside if possible. The big fire ovens inside made it quite hot. Overall we really enjoyed our wine and our meal.
The quality of pizza changed tremendously. It used to be a really nice Neapolitan pizza but the last one was less than average.
Have been visiting Mimmo La Bufala for several years now and the standards are always excellent. The pizzas are phenomenal (better than I have had in Italy...by the way, I'm italian...) and the rest of the food is well prepared and ticks all the flavour boxes. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant and if you are lucky enough, you can enjoy a fun and interesting chat with Mimmo the owner (when he's not indulging in Italy or other wonderful parts to the world). We live around 1 hr away and we have no reservations in making the trip to savour the best pizzas I have ever had. The Cornetto di bufala is incredible (I'm salivating just thinking about it...).
Attentive and speedy service. Any additional request was catered for and flexibility is great. Food was enjoyed by everyone. We attended with a group of 11.
Busy and welcoming place, personable service and wide selection of Italian dishes
Always a wonderful meal with fabulous service that can’t be beaten
I found half eaten olive in my tiramisu desert. This disgusting discovery was made when I put a spoonful of creamy desert in my mouth - I cracked a tooth on the olive pit and spat it out. Imagine the horror and disgust when I realized what it was! Somebody else's discarded food remains ended up in my desert and in my mouth. The restaurant did not address this in any shape or form, only took the charge for the offending desert off the bill and then over-charged me for the drinks I did not order or have. I am absolutely appalled by the unhygienic incident and by the way the restaurant handled the entire situation. I will be filing a complaint with the appropriate hygiene licensing agency. I am never coming back to this establishment.
Went on Tuesday night for birthday celebrations with a friend. The staff looked after us really well and even sang "Happy Birthday" . We had fish of the day which was sea bass gently poached with cherry tomatoes, wine, herbs and garlic with roast potatoes and broccoli and Ossobuco both of which were delicious. We followed this with traditional deserts and two very good cups of coffee.
I thought that I'd found a local gem. Although it could be a diamond, our experience was that it is very much in the rough!
Two of our guests were vegetarians, so a quick look through the extensive menu revealed lots of vegetarian options. To be fair, the pizza and pasta dishes were fine. However, I ordered the Tuna (medium) - what arrived was tough and inedible. Whether it was the fish itself or the way it was cooked, I have never had such a bad experience.
We also ordered some fried zucchini and one of our guests mentioned that they tasted a bit fishy - like they had been fried at the same time as some fish. The reality was worse than that, the dish not only contained zucchini but several fried whitebait mixed in. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she just mumbled an apology and took the dish away.
Needless to say, we won't be going back there again, which is a shame, as it has the potential to be an amazing local Italian restaurant. Maybe their menu is just too extensive and they would be better off cooking fewer dishes really well.
Great food and fab service
Friendly staff and food was not bad but pricey for what was served. There are many similar Italian restaurants in London for half the price!
I had a great time for Mother's day with my family. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was of a high quality, with a great selection of wines on offer.
I would recommend it to anyone in the North London/Hampstead area
First time here, a great spot for lazy tasty lunch
We arrived to find our table was not ready despite having booked. Eventually given a table which was dirty and not laid up. Had to ask several times for various things like a menu, wine list, drinks. Service was poor due to a shortage of staff and the staff that were on duty were very stressed. However the food when it arrived was hot, well cooked, fresh and very tasty. Good size portions and the wine suggested by the waitress was excellent without breaking the bank. Would we return? Well yes we will give it another chance but the service has to be stepped up a great deal both prior to diners arriving so the table is ready for them and also during the meal nothing is more frustrating than having to keep trying to catch a waitress’ eye because you need something.
Food was very bad:
- £12 for 3 small scallops that were not cooked,
- gnocchi were so cooked that it was a gnocchi mash without much taste... probably a reheating from 2 days ago.
- swordfish was .... tuna :-)
If I could transport myself back in time to the late 1980’s, this is exactly the restaurant that I would expect to find. The decor, the food presentation, the service, it’s all 1989 advertising lunches. I could imagine a young David Cameron feeling perfectly at home here. It’s saving grace is that the flavours are really super. Lovely tasty food.
Absolutely loved the warmth of the servers. They were helpful, happy and sweet. Would love to come back!
One of my favourite restaurants in London, wonderful all around.
We ate earlyish on a Friday night, and I have report that everything was terrific. The food was really delicious, and the service was timely and attentive. It was filling up as we left, so clearly a hit with the locals. We will definitely go again
We enjoyed our first visit to Mimmo's although my wife's swordfish wasn't cooked well enough.
But we were not charged for it.
Just opposite Hampstead Heath overground station. A lovely family-run Italian restaurant, serving generous portions of delicious food, and with attentive service. Will return for more.
Exquisite food, very professional service!
Wonderful service, great advice on the menu, fantastic quality food and great wines. It's a busy restaurant but the staff are careful to look after you. Good selection of traditional classics, well prepared and nice quality, and the wine list is well priced and provides a good range. Will definitely return again.
Very authentic Italian food
Friendly and great pizza and pasta - lovely New Year lunch with family.
