Food was great, staff incredibly helpful and friendly. 10/10 would go again.
Was ok, but there are a number of better options for the same price.
Very good food and atmosphere. Will be booking this restaurant again
The starters were very poor quality, and the wine overpriced for generally bland selection. The steak was cooked well, but the side dishes disappointing. Service was chaotic
The food was fine for the price - nice, but what you'd expect for the price. We were one of 3 tables in throughout the night and repeatedly had to call the staff over to clear plates / make orders. Disappointing.
Good food, especailly the steak. Would recomend steak as this place as it is a Steak house. Service was good and very friendly.
We ordered starters and the waiter FORGOT ! so we only had main course. We were offered other peoples food. They had cooked our steaks too early so were not hot and then they gave us the wrong bill. Appalling
The lady responsible for the service needs training. She cannot respond from a client shounting from another side of the floor.
Food is great! Nice vibe, service is ok
We had the sharing platter and it was lovely - all the meat was cooked perfectly! The waiter was very friendly and efficient although the Manager could make a bit more effort to smile!!
Steak was amazing. I had been to another fancy steak place recently but your steak was so much better!
asked for rare - got very very well done. poor service, rushed waiters even though the place was nearly empty
Rather than the lunch time set menu we both had the burgers that were nice.
Service is not the quickest so make sure you have time.
Good food and friendly staff. My main course took loooong to be served =\
Absolutely amazing food and a great selection of Gin.
Nice spacious layout.
Brilliant place to eat! I'll be back many, many times over!
Went for my birthday and asked for a good table (unfortunately it was Valentine's day). Table was fine but had a huge light over the table with a very bright bulb in it so it felt a bit like being in a canteen.
Then was told by the waiter how I could have my steak - I ordered rib eye and I know as I eat this often that they recommend medium rare, which is fine, however, i always ask that it's slightly more rare than medium rare as I often find it a bit over cooked. Anyway, i was told this was not possible, that they only cook it medium rare and no variations. Interesting way to talk to your customers.
Steak arrived, it was fine but nothing special. I'm not sure I understand all the great reviews on the food. Spinach was good, chips were very poor.
My Mum had called up ahead and asked them for a cake for my birthday as a surprise. Waited and waited, she had to remind them twice. Didn't end up being much of a surprise! To be fair to them, they didn't charge us for the slice of cheesecake.
All in all fine, but for the price (£50 a head with one of the cheaper wines) I would pay a bit extra and go to Hawksmoor or Omnino round the corner!
Lovely food and service very good service. Great value for money
The food is simple, tasty and well priced. Great wine. Good atmosphere (though they could dim the lights just a tad bit). Will go there again.
Good steak. Starter options somewhat limited, but overall good experience.
Bit quieter on a Tuesday afternoon as you’d expect. Good lunch offer. Friend and typically visit once every couple months.
Yep. Been here before the rebrand. It’s as good if not slightly better. Steak great as ever. Love the salt. Portions aren’t huge and it’s on the expensive end of what it is. But it’s in the city so can’t really complain on that front. Def recommend
Some of the best steaks in London - without the formality of some steak restaurants. Suits business and personal meals out. Friendly service - we did have to wait 20 mins for our deserts but they were very apologetic. Wine list very good and matches the food well. Expensive but worth it.
The food was delicious. But it may have been due to the time of year, but the service want all it could be
I have visited Mingo half a dozen times since it re-opened as Mingo & have always enjoyed a very nice / value for money meal (Steak & Chips). However, on this occasion my friends and I were left extremely disappointed.
Not only had the prices increased for Xmas but the steak was of a smaller cut and wasn't of it's usual quality. The steak had a lot of gristle (usually none) and despite my request for a medium to well done steak it was very pink on the inside. I'm not one to complain in a restaurant especially as I can only take an hour for lunch so cannot deal with the hassle. Sadly after this experience, I won't be coming back again :-(
The food was very good. There were 3 of us in the group and we had different steaks. All very well cooked and tasty. I've marked the restaurant down on service as the service was very slow and our orders got mixed up at first. This may be due to the Christmas season, so I'll try again in the new year.
Nice enough but not much food for quite a lot of money.
Good steak lunch option. Our two Sirloins and a Rib-eye were very good.
Terrible service, drinks ordered as food arrived, but no drinks delivered before we finished the meal. Dramatically under cooked (cold) steak for all three of us. A shame because previous two visits were fine
I’ve never written a review but this place deserves one. Went to Mingo on Friday 8th December to celebrate a friend’s engagement and had booked a table for 4 via opentable and chose the 2 for 1 cocktails offer as opposed to 1000 points.
As soon as we sat down we wanted to order cocktails and this is when the evening went downhill. We were told by the waiter the offer wasn’t available in December or after 7pm (our seating was at 7pm) We tried to explain that this wasn’t explained anywhere so the manager came to get involved. He explained that the Ts and Cs were on their website. Again we explained we booked via opentable so didn’t have to look on their website and nowhere on opentable were we advised to look up the Ts and Cs. We then all ordered steaks well done “borderline burnt”, these came back red, one of which wasn’t eaten. We tried to get attention for several things me water and after being fobbed off had to get up and go to the kitchen to ask. Ordered drinks which never came and on the whole it wasn’t a celebratory evening.
Although the manager did give us our 2 for 1 drinks offer after a tiresome conversation, this was the worst place we’ve eaten! I’m sure others have enjoyed eating here but we certainly won’t be returning as the basics were ignored.
Very nice steak , great service 👍👍👍👍
Staff and manager were very slow to respond and dismissive of us. Food was also very mediocre for the price. Steak and cheese weren't impressive, but lamb and pork were all right.
We dined on 7th December to celebrate one of my girlfriends’ birthday. We booked the £24 Malbec offer but when we were about to order, we were told that the offer isn’t available during December. We questioned this as we didn’t receive a call or email from them letting us know that the offer isn’t available. They were defensive & didn’t even apologise about this. Service was extremely slow, god our orders mixed up, steak was over cooked, chicken was dry, veg were burnt. Seriously awful experience. We felt that there wasn’t enough staff to accommodate the number of diners during this busy festive period this the horrendous service. We will not go back.
Unfortunately a disappointing experience this time. I've met friends for a work-day lunch a few times before and everything has been fine so I confidently booked a table to meet my parents and sister who were visiting from out of town.
- I arrived a little later than the others, but they said it took an age and something of a campaign to attract someones attention to order some drinks. They very much felt ignored as staff passed by but didn't invite contact and they had to really collar someone to get served.
- Part of the attraction of this place are the great value offers which are advertised on the website. Particularly the steak and chips for £11.95 and daily lunch menus at the same price. Neither of these were made available on the day. When we enquired, we were told that those offers had been dropped in preference to a Christmas menu at something £23 . It was only 1st Dec and nobody had updated the website. It still shows those cheaper offers on the website today and makes no mention of the Christmas deal. The staff made no attempt at offering something similar despite our bringing it to their attention.
I can't invite people to eat with me there again if offers advertised as valid aren't going be honoured and it ends up costing way more than expected.
Good good and nice place. The steak's were okay, I think the prices is okay for what you get.
Great steaks but also grilled chicken! Very reasonable price for city
Visited for team lunch. Service pretty awful - food delivered but not what we ordered. Fairly chaotic despite not many diners in restaurant.
We tried the mixed meat menu with 4 types of stakes. each was superb and very well made. The 3 of us shared what looked like a massive quantity of meat, but we ended up enjoying every bit of it and not feeling too heavy after all. Very high quality for a great price.
Staff and atmosphere are brilliant! Steaks are decent and there are good value options
Great value for money and as the venue is very large they always have a table on Friday lunchtime busy hours. Steak is decent, even the set menu one. Service could be improved, waiters often don't write orders down and inevitably the don't get food or steak cooking preference right.
