Everyone who visits Modena will want to partake in the platter of antipasti served family-style with three to six selections available daily until they run out. Items will range from chilled Octopus Salad, Artichoke Scafata, Marinated Peppers, and other local seasonal items like fresh beets. One will explore Pasta Fagioli with pipe pasta, local Coco Rubio beans and Piennolo tomatoes, a dish from Melfi’s grandmother’s collection. Our trolley will return in 2021!
For a sweet ending, Amaretti cookies will be offered as they are a mainstay throughout Italy and a wonderful finish to the meal.

We went to celebrate our anniversary. Our 7 course chefs tasting menu was a culinary delight! Tailored to our preferences with each course another flavor combination to delight! The server was attentive but not overbearing. The evening was so special because we had time to relax an enjoy our meal without pressure of time. Favorite courses were the gnocchi in broth, the smoked salmon salad, the beef tips, and the 7 kinds of chocolate desert! Lots of food but small portions so the tasting wasn’t overwhelming.

So we did the 7-course experience but were seated in the more casual area vice the nice side. The casual area was a little drafty, but after a while we got used to the room temperature. If I'm paying $125 per person I should be seated in the best place in the house. Nonetheless, the food and service were excellent. I would do it again but ask to sit on the other side.

The V-Day Prix-fixe menu was an amazing way to enjoy a rare date night and special evening. The choices/options were well done with 4-6 options per course and pricing at $85 was very reasonable for the experience. The Calamari and the Salmon appetizers almost stole the show from the start. The pasta course was GOOD, my wild boar ragu was excellent. My partner enjoyed her Brodo but I felt the stuffing was too mild versus the very savory broth. The Secondi were amazing. The lobster was terrific Saltimbocca was super impressive in tenderness inside and crispy outside and very well balanced. The deserts...just wow. I only wish I had/could have ordered an extra tiramisu to try it. Really interesting cocktails also, next time I go back I'm trying the Niki Lauda for sure. The Enzo was REALLY unique and I enjoyed it.

Food was incredible, as always at Modena! This was our second time dining, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered. They have great cocktails and wine choices, we always enjoy the Gin Caravaggio when dining here.
I have celiac disease and the waitstaff here is very knowledgeable/courteous/helpful as to what items I can/cannot have (almost all items can be made gluten free). The Salmon ‘Raviolo’ is a must (gluten free) and the Ragu was also delicious (also can be made gluten free), although I do prefer the Bolognese. They make gluten free pasta in-house and you can tell -- it's the best gluten free pasta I've ever had! I learned the chef's girlfriend also has celiac disease and as a result is extremely aware.
The only thing that could make my experience better as someone with Celiac is if they offered gluten free bread (which they currently do not have).
Kit our waiter was exceptional! Additionally the pre fixe menu was perfectly priced and properly proportioned. Minus the weather a great Valentine’s date with my wife.

We went to Modena for Valentine’s Day dinner. We had their four course meal. Amazing food and amazing service. They have an outside seating that is covered and heated good for the cold weather dining. Highly recommend this place and I am glad I reserved with them this year.

I had Valentine’s dinner with my girl. They had a four course dinner. It had so many unique options and everything we picked was perfect! The presentation and taste both excellent! Every item was amazing (4 courses per person), including the cocktails. Service was impeccable from our waiter (maître d’ even stopped by to ensure our experience was up to par). Quick service but absolutely did not feel rushed. Ambiance is intimate and beautifully planned. Could not recommend this restaurant any higher considering they managed to deliver such an experience despite Covid restrictions. 5/5 stars.

First. I was greeted by the most handsome, high spirited man. Just him alone, created a wonderful start for my husband's birthday. We felt comfortable from the start. Petra recommended the best plates to try however she was delighted to inform us that we could not go wrong no matter what we chose. The barber 2 whole wheat tagliatelle (tortellini) ravioli, heirloom beet salad, polpette. duck leg confit were heaven. Dessert: bombolini and sorbet.
The teal design with artistic chandeliers and artwork gave it a romantic flair. If the bathroom offered texture and wood grain designs. I am impressed. Yes. I am returning next month.

Modena was such a find for my husband and I. The entire dining experience was amazing. The cocktails were delicious and innovative. Served beautifully in their proper glass which is such a treat. And the food is delicious down to every detail. Beautifully prepared and presented. Their restaurant week menu is superb but we’ll be back to try their regular menu which sounds just as wonderful. And I liked the coat service as an added touch to dining out a little more special. It’s all in the details and Modena has it covered!

Great food...went for Restaurant week...odd pricing (a reasonable $35 for 3 courses but $55 for 4, which basically didn't add much food because portion smaller). Excellent quality, nice waiter, very slow to bring more bread but was good to have a high quality meal in Covid world.

We selected this restaurant as part of the DC restaurant week. What an incredible choice! The attention to detail in presentation and taste in every dish was incredible. We selected the Raymond wine to go with the meal, as the sommelier participated in blending the wine for the restaurant. Winter Restaurant Week lunch during the pandemic - Tony took care of us with great service. We felt safe throughout due to excellent mask compliance and distancing throughout the dining room. Food came out quickly, was delicious and well presented. Highly recommend the duck, the tagliatelle, and gnocchi. My girlfriend also enjoyed a port-based cocktail from the drinks menu. Appreciated the bread on the side, served with flavorful olive oil as well. Restaurant week lunch proved to be excellent value! Would definitely return.
Food taste was good, but not enough food for the price. Unable to taste alcohol in cocktails that were also overpriced. $8 for water.

It was cold sitting outside and the food was really just okay. I only liked the appetizer and the food got cold very quickly. I think it is overpriced.

The Mayor's office has just reopened indoor dining at 25% capacity and we would love chance to make this up to you.
Last night before closing to inside dining - So the two items I wanted to try were not available. But the alternate choices were excellent. The chef commented that due to the situation certain items were out of stock. Love the place. Service was a little shaky. Asked for a rusty nail on the rocks with twist. Got a mostly scotch drink - asked for a little more drambuie - and the twist and then it was perfect. A refill later was again not quiet right. The server recommended a red wine to go with dinner. It was perfect - but it did not arrive until after my dinner was done. Will be fun to go back when it is fully functional.

Delightful dinning experience, didn't think it could get better, but it did! Invited friends and they were amazed by the exquisite food Chef Melfi crafts, every dish created with different techniques and the best ingredients, can't wait for my Christmas Dinner!
