Due to its tumultuous history under different regimes, names and occupations, Moldova has a rich cultural tapestry, the cuisine being a main component of the transition. With influences from its neighbors: Romania and Ukraine, a little from Turkey and Bulgaria, some from Russia and even the Mediterranean countries, Moldovan cuisine offers a variety of tastes and flavors.
With spices, herbs and various types of produce and meats, our dishes combine these flavors to create real masterpieces, giving an incredible result for a well-balanced meal.

One of our favorite spots in Boston. Unique and delicious food!
Absolutely outstanding. The food is exquisite, the prices - good value for the money, the atmosphere is cozy, outside seating in the best weather possible, just perfect.
Always a great experience at Moldova! The food and wine are amazing!
Dined al fresco. Was prepared a special dish that was great and the potato coltunasi with sour cream were perfection
We've been going regularly since they opened. Just a note to diners that it's not particularly vegetarian friendly. You can get a salad or a pie with cheese. That's the only dinner meal with protein. The "pie with potato" or "pie with cabbage" are very basic and plain (not much flavor or seasoning), just dough and a filling.
We do like the kind and friendly servers.
This restaurant has such great food! Anything you order is guaranteed to be delicious. It is one of my favorite places to go!
The food was obviously made with love. It was elegant original and delightfully delicious.
The server was helpful and knowledgeable.
Because it's on the main street of Nonantum it was loud but interesting.
We would definitely go there again even though it's a fair trek from our town, Cambridge.
This place never disappoints. The food is amazing and the wines are some of the best I’ve had. Service is always spot on. Love it!
Great food - reminded us of the food we had in Russia. Looked like they were very carefully working with the Reopening protocols. Would go back!
First time eating there… It was a good positive experience
Always love our visit to Moldova!!
Have been at this restaurant several times before. Very impressed that waitstaff and bartenders all wore gloves this time showing their concern for themselves and their customers in this age of coronavirus. Thanks for you consideration.
Took us awhile to get service after we arrived, including not getting water. I think they forgot about us but once we proactively asked for our server, it was much better.
Food was good. We were 2 couples so we ordered the the main meals and sides for sharing. Portions were not huge but food was tasty. Sour cherry desserts were great. All food was homemade and well prepared.
Servers and staff were friendly and helpful.
The eggplant spread and the dessert crepes were the only things worth trying on the menu. Everything else was tasteless and so far from the traditional Romanian/Moldovan cuisine that I would not recommend it to anybody
5 of us enjoyed our first visit to Moldova. It is a charming, quiet restaurant with what I would describe as comfort food. We shared a traditional pie with cow cheese which 4 of the 5 of us loved. Our main meals, 2 pork, 2 chicken, and 1 sausage were ample, well cooked, served piping hot, and delicious according to all. We even indulged in dessert, which we usually forego. 2 apple pies were declared perfect, while 1 cherry crepe dessert was ok, not quite as good as anticipated, lacking in as many cherries as expected. Three of us enjoyed delicious margaritas but they were pretty small for $12 each. In fact we felt everything was a bit overpriced. But, given the quality, we will visit again, perhaps when a Groupon is offered.
Excellent. Modern interpretations of my Eastern European grandparents’ kitchen. Really enjoyed it
I love their home-style Eastern European food. Good service on Valentine's Day night, which was very busy.
Great service and good food, I will tell everyone to eat here
Food is very good and made fresh to order, plenty of food selection and a full bar.
Very good unassuming casual meal with great atmosphere.
Had a great time there with friends. Delicious food, wine and beer.
Not great but a taste of eastern European food was fun.
We went on a Saturday night and were enticed by the great reviews. The employees courteous and the service was good. The place was large but only 4 tables were taken.
There was Moldovian (I assume?) music playing loudly the entire time which felt odd and didn't help the atmosphere or experience. I couldn't wait to stop hearing it. Pickled vegetables, yuck. I had to wear my coat the entire time because it was cold. The menu had photos which helped.
Positives: the place is pretty and clean. Good food and service.
Overall it wasn't for me and I won't be back.
The nicer of the two rooms seemed full of Moldovans having a good time. Our room was less than half full and with bright lights and dull colors was a missed opportunity to showcase colorful Moldovan art on the menu graphics. It looked like the food tasted. Lacking in character. Pickled veggies neither distinctly sour nor very crisp. Pork was dry and with little seasoning. Slaw had no dressing or spices. Server was either very shy or not too interested. Cherry crepe dessert was the highlight of the night.
Our first time trying cuisine of Moldova and we will be back for more! We loved the eggplant and cheese pie for appetizers. Our lamb main dishes were tender and very tasty. We especially liked the red wine from Moldova. This place is a gem;
Dined with family (4 of us total) for NYE for an early dinner. Menu is interesting and varied and familiar to anyone who enjoys a fusion of middle-eastern and eastern european cuisine. We started with a salad and then ordered the chicken thighs, kebab de miel and Sarmale. Sarmale was the best dish far in terms of taste and overall lightness.
The other dishes were heavier. The kebab which is ground lamb came with 3 large pieces. It was overly salted and quite oily. We enjoyed our meal as it was tasty, but unfortunately all four of us suffered from mild upset stomachs for the next two days. I don't know if I would return based on this.
The food was old. I wordered sarmale and were full of rice not too much meet.
The mititei was old made maybe one week ago. I had cramps and I did not feel well. I can not eat all and for 3 mici i paid 20$.
Never I will go back.
Hi Mirela. We're sorry to hear about your experience. I believe there is a cultural misconception about our food, as our food is typical from Moldova, which differs from Romanian food which you are most used to, which is why our Sarmale and Mititei may seem different in taste. This is how we traditionally cook them, but we do understand your concern, as it is a common misunderstanding from our visitors from Romania. We apologize for the inconvenience. Have a happy new year.
This was our first chance to experience the cuisine of Moldova - the selections we chose were great comfort food for a cold winter night! The potato dumplings and pan fried cheese filled bread we chose were great appetizers, then we shared the stuffed cabbage and grape leaves, served WARM, which was also nice. Had not before had wines from Moldova either - had a nice, bright, fruity varietal that was new to us. The ambiance is a bit plain - would love it if it were more representative of Moldova to enhance the experience. At our request, they switched the music to Moldovan (rather than a station streaming American “Christmas” music which seemed bizarre while eating this delicious unusual fare). Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for the kind words! The Christmas Music didn't feel right for us either, so we ended up changing back to our usual music, so thanks for the suggestion. And we're already in works of improving our ambience in 2020, so be sure to see some nice changes very soon. Hope to see you back.
The restaurant was quiet on a weeknight, but the dishes were hot and fresh, and the service was prompt and friendly. The pan-friend pies and potato dumplings were particularly good.
We go to Moldova when we want to relax and have good hearty and comforting food - which is especially great in these colder months of the year! The food is quite good and we recommend the pork. We'll try the three meat dish next time. Dumplings are also very good - but if you order it as an entree it is just dumplings - nothing else. They have their own beer and we tried the lager and pilsner - both were excellent. Service was good overall (even if our appetizer came after our meal). Overall, a nice cozy place to go on a cold winter's day or night.
Moldova was a delightful surprise. I thought the menu sounded interesting, and I went mostly out of curiosity, but will certainly go back. We had lightly pickled tomatoes and cucumbers with a good feta, a fried cabbage pie (which sounds awful, but was delicious), cabbage leaves stuffed with a chicken and herb mixture, and roast lamb. All washed down with a light-bodied red wine (from Moldova) that I thought was going to be astringent, but turned out to be warm and friendly. I very rarely take leftovers home from a restaurant, but you bet I took these -- they were too good to waste. Very good service, too -- attentive but low-key. The surroundings were not luxurious, but were comfortable and very clean.
The environment is very pleasant - clean, nicely decorated, music law, food fresh and tasty.
Very nice people, very nice food. I hope they do well.
We always enjoy eating at Moldova, it is one of our favorite restaurants. We had big parties and they were organized beautifully. We also came just for dinner and enjoyed just as much! The quality of food and service is amazing!
Great food and service. The restaurant does a nice job providing customers with a window into Moldova’s cuisine and culture. Try a bottle of any of the Moldovan wines - great taste.
sausages were not cooked through. food overall was bland. meh.
Cute place in Nonantum in Newton with good wine and a nice ambiance. A little under seasoned but tasty.
I will come back anytime. Great food and service.
Fun, little neighborhood gem in Newton. The food and service were very good. The ambiance is a little off as it's extremely quiet; so quiet that you have to work hard not to listen to the conversation next to you. They could also use some candles on the tables or a little extra touch to add to the ambiance. Overall, we were pleased with the food, and the drinks were very unusual.
Fantastic find! Boyfriend wanted something different for his birthday. Food and service was great! Beer and wine was also excellent. Would certainly go back
