Really liked the ambience. Good food, small portion sharing plates and even though we ordered 3 or 4 each we were a bit hungry at the end. Love the mini tacos and the beef. Yellowtail slices are so thin really not bothering with as all you can taste is the dressing. Overall nice evening.
Lovely place, ordered 6 dishes between two of us and it was just right. The cocktails were lush, highly recommend them. Idea for a date or romantic evening, with a lounge bar for after the meal with waiter service
Sea Bass Ceviche was Devine, as was all the food. Would highly recommend.
Good place for a business meeting. Good place for a business meeting.
We had booked the table for a party of 5 for 2.30pm and arrived at the restaurant at 2.20pm approx. We were provided with only one menu despite the website saying they offer a set menu, a la carte etc., which was for Peruvian and Italian. The waitress spoke so quickly we had to ask her to repeat herself several times. We decided to order two dishes each to begin with and advised the waitress we may order more once we had finished. The starters all came out at different times.
We decided to order another dish each at 2.55pm and were told rather abruptly by a member of staff called Rachel that the kitchen closed at 2.30pm and this was clear on the website. We queried this as we had booked the table for 2.30pm and furthermore we were not told by the initial waitress that the kitchen closed at 2.30pm. She offered us the desert menu if we wanted something else to eat. By this time one member of our party had not even received her main course from the initial order.
I advised Rachel that this was not clear on the website and had it been more explicit I would have not booked the venue. She departed and after several minutes cam be back and said the chef had agreed to provide us with a further dish but we had to choose in the next 5 minutes. The main course for the party stated above had still not arrived and this was queried again.
This restaurant is not cheap and overall I was very disappointed with the service and portions. The prices are not cheap and the portions are small. I am a regular user of Open Table and in all of my experience this is by far the worst restaurant I have been to. We will not be returning!
I will definitely be coming back here! The food is absolutely amazing.
Shaun was very attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered several dishes and nothing was disappointing!
Everything was fine, just the noise level from a Dj was a bit too high to be able to make a conversation
As long as you are not in a hurry for drinks, this is a buzzy place to visit. The tapas were very tasty and the drinks were good (when they arrived). In a nice part of town , though the address is misleading, its not Mercer Street its Monmouth Street.
Great ambiance for a date, special dinner or a friendly meal. The food is very good, but don’t expect big quantities- all is to enjoy the palate.
Booking is a must, especially on weekends!
I found the pre theatre meal menu very rich with no lighter options.
The music was so loud we could not hear the waiter or each other and asked to move but another table could not be found even the though the people on the next table got moved away from the speaker. The waiter said he would turn the music down but it didn’t make a lot of difference. Given that it was only 6.15pm it seemed early to have such loud music playing.
Efficient and welcoming staff. Our waiter was very helpful and patient. The menu was varied and interesting, small dishes worked really well as it encouraged us to try a variety of Peruvian and Italian dishes, all of which were beautifully presented. All tasted really good too!
Restaurant was busy but not crowded, no time pressure so we were able to have a leisurely lunch in convivial surroundings.
I don’t think we received all our courses. Portions were v small. Great food taste wise but not good value for money in light of not all food coming (there were 5 of us and 1 small salmon dish was served)
Nearly all of the dishes were outstanding - truly delicious. We had the pre-theatre menu and each had 4 dishes, some the same but 8 choices overall, plus 2 ceviches. The sea bass ceviche was wonderful. The yellowfin, however, was tiny and one piece tasted stale. Our other issue was that only one out of three choices for the menu's dessert options was available and the restaurant refused to offer alternatives, which was poor. Service was otherwise excellent.
Very good food and friendly service. A bit pricey. Rather a characterless place. Hard to find as address is mercer Street but entrance is on Monmouth street.
Lovely place, great food, great offer and really friendly staff. we very munch enjoyed our lunch with friends!
We had two breakfast meals and one diner. The food was great the staff were amazing ,so helpful nothing was to much trouble even though it was busy the staff took time out to talk to us. It was my wife's birthday on Sunday 1st Dec so we had breakfast on that morning almost every member of the staff came over and wished her happy birthday and they gave her a cake selection to eat. The diner we had on the Saturday was really nice there were five of us so we had a mixture of the dishes and we all really enjoyed the food every single dish was cooked to perfection, lamb sliders soo nice . The restaurant has got a great layout its just so different from a normal hotel restaurant big windows so you still feel connected to the outside world. When we checked out we went back into the restaurant to thank every member of staff we could see. Amazing food wonderful staff.
good ambience, food was average in my opinion. pricey for the portion
Cool cocktail / tapas style place - good for a date or a friends chill. Portions are small (tapas) so be aware. Drinks are decent.
Good food and we'll presented but too heavy on the citrus juices in the dressings.
Portions were not generous.
Not prepared for the loud live music so found that intrusive and it made conversation difficult.
You need to prompt the staff you have theatre tickets and to get a jog on with the bill. Food v tasty, staff very good otherwise. Although we were seated in a corner like we were social housing in a plush inner city new build.
Really great service. We had to rush as we had the theatre and they made sure everything was out on time and even brought a happy birthday dessert for my boyfriend. Great service and delish food. Good pre theatre choice.
Great food, friendly helpful staff, hip and vibrant atmosphere. Definitely will return.
Absolutely delighted with our visit - the food was incredibly fresh and full of flavours, prepared with love and attention to detail. Each dish was beautifully presented and showcased the ingredients perfectly. My only criticism is that the music was loud and that meant it wasn’t always easy to hear conversation around the table ...
Interesting selection of menu items, both Peruvian and Italian, always a great experience.
A welcoming, friendly atmosphere, with attentive and professional staff who are happy to explain the Peruvian/Italian meals and the approach -- with each very tasty dish arriving as soon as it is ready. Each dish is perfect for sharing, and the flavours pack a punch. Highly recommend the striped sea bass and the ribs.
What a fantastic experience, the service was faultless and the food was next level. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice meal out at a reasonable price.
Superb food on the lunchtime fixed price menu with decent wine at a reasonable price. Helpful and friendly service and very accommodating as we were one extra in our party to the booking.
Ive been here too many times to know that this was a rare "off day". We waited over 30 mins before our order was taken . The waiting staff had vanished after we were seated. Drinks ordered to start arrived with the second course, the wine even later. Items ordered failed to materialise. Oh dear and I had brought 2 friends on the premise that this place was superb. It was only when the evening staff arrived that things began to be the normal superb restaurant that the Monmouth Kitchen is. BTW the food, was as ever, fantastic.
We've really enjoyed your dinner over here . The ambiance is modern en trendy, the service was great, even so we had a late late dinner at 10:00 p.m. The food was really outstanding. We would certainly recommend this place.
Great service and variety of options. Good value for money as well.
Very average / poor food - no indication on the menus on what is cold and warm, we took the recommendations from the staff, however most of these were cold dishes that tasted the same e.g Tacos Chicken/ Tacos scallops, basic salad, basic cooking and expensive for what it is....
great food and nice place. Service wasn't quite as quick as I would have wanted but it was OK and very friendly. Good location. Some really great dishes and some lovely desserts.
Attentive staff , well presented and cooked food , would book again
We loved the mixture of Peruvian and Italian small plates. The wine was delicious and the service attentive, but unobtrusive. We’ll be back!
Highlight of this experience was definitely the staff - so attentive and friendly, and each of them said happy birthday to my mum which was really lovely! Food was great value and really delicious. Great ambience with a DJ playing some nice chilled house music. Prosecco was a little expensive and bumped up our pre theatre meal quite a lot! Other than that, would definitely recommend.
Great vibe and atmosphere but food was disappointing. Thought it would be breathtakingly delicious but it was pretty average - tuna tacos, burrata and ravioli quite nice, but avocado corn salad very average, and aubergine too.
Another wonderful meal. It has never failed to delight. Great food, staff and ambience. From Melissa’s lovely welcome another perfect pre theatre experience. We will be back,
Second time here and the food is always delicious. Nice dj muisic a bit. Too loud for some but I get it
Loved the food and service but the music was too loud! We could not hear ourselves talk!
