Monsieur Le Duck
Our simple yet perfectly formed menu centres around duck that is being brought in to London especially for us, alongside classic French sides, desserts and wine.
On the first floor, guests will find The Duck Nest cocktail bar, perfect for pre or post dinner drinks. Modeled on an early 20th Century Parisian boudoir, the bar provides a beautiful backdrop to enjoy a range of unique cocktails and gorgeous wines from all over France.
The brainchild of three frequent travelers to Gascony, Monsieur Le Duck provides a portal to the French heartland of relaxed eating and drinking.
Focusing on the food and wine of South West France; Monsieur Le Duck provides a portal to the heartland of relaxed eating and drinking. The menu is simple, with an emphasis on quality over quantity, using only the freshest ingredients to ensure excellence in every dish. Duck is the main player here and sits alongside traditional French recipes, with classics such as baked camembert, moules marinières, puy lentils and crème brûlée taking centre stage, alongside modern reinventions such as spinach and goat’s cheese croquettes, duck burger, duck wellington and a dark chocolate mousse with a twist. The ground floor mixes modern industrial chic with French-Gascon charm with a strong duck theme running throughout. There is a large central wrap around bar, with its own unique cocktail list. The design of the first floor has been influenced by Art Nouveau and the boudoir style of early 20th century Paris, with its own bar, a carefully curated wine list and a discerning cocktail selection.View Private Dining Details
Amazing food, as usual. Looking forward to going back when they find a new location.
Absolutely lovely experience, so sad to hear it’s closing!! Fantastic service and food.
Au revoir- the penultimate night before Monsieur Le Duck closed its doors at end end of the lease (looking for a new venue). Great service. Unpretentious. Superb duck and a good veggie provencale tart. We’ll miss you :(
Really enjoyed the meal, food was incredible and was fast, was a bit crowded and our table was near a busy walkway but generally great!
Amazing food, lovely staff, such a shame it’s closing.
Always a fan of restaurants that pick one item and do it well.
Monsieur LeDuck is such a venue, providing classic Duck Confit and an incredible Duck Wellington but to name a few of its variations on duck.
Shame they are having to move venue v soon - but keep an eye out for when/where they open up next!
Hi YumYum, Thank you for your review. We promise that in our new venue we will keep up the good standard and please come back to see us again :) MLD
We loved everything about Monsieur Duck, from the moment we entered. Charming decor, fairly low Parisienne music, wait staff, and food. We had excellent garlic soup to begin and then duck two ways, confit/fried plus chargrill. The duck was served on a board and metal platter; the latter could have been hot to keep the chargrill piece warm. Good frites. Tarte aux pommes seemed to have been made with canned apples, a bit mushy. Wine a bit overpriced but okay. Service discreet and not in our face constantly. We highly recommend.
Thank you for your lovely review. Tarte aux pommes definitely not made from canned apples, just in case you were wondering. And yes, the slate is to keep the duck warm. Thank you for recommending, we really appreciate it.
Fantastic for duck. The burger, wellington, and pan-roasted duck breast were highlights. Loved the fruity St Emilion, great value.
Friendly and helpful staff, nice modern surroundings. Excellent food and cocktails.
Thank you thank you. We love what we do and glad you do too... MLD
We were a group of 8 so had to pre order our menu choices. This made everything very easy. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Very sad it closes at end of December and hope they find a new venue to set up.
Hi Luvfood, Thank you for your review and finger crossed for the future, please come back to find us in out future location :) MLD
MLD is a lovely restaurant as the staff are friendly and helpful. Took my partner to celebrate our anniversary and he was well impressed with how the duck was cooked and served.
Gutted that it'll be closing its doors on Clerkenwell Road yet got my fingers crossed that they'll find a new spot soon :-)
Hi MissAquaDragon76, thank you for choosing us for your special occasion and please come back to visit us in our future new location!!! MLD
Charming staff and absolutely delicious food. We had the bottomless brunch (though there were other menus available) and all my friends commented on how good even the small details were.
Hi Sarah, Thank you for the feedback we hope to see you again :) MLD
The cocktails were superb. I would recommend the confit duck leg. We also had a flight of Armagnac which we were talked through. A very enjoyable evening and highly recommended.
Hi Thomas, Thank you for the kind review. We hope to see you again soon. MLD
The food was great and the service very friendly and professional.
Hi David, Thank you very much for your feedback, please come back again soon Kind regards, MLD
We had a marvelous time! Best confit I have had in a long time!
HI Catmando, We are glad to know that you enjoyed our confit. Please come back again soon to try the rest of our delicious menu. MLD
Très sympa et concept autour du canard nouveau Cadre agréable et pas trop bruyant.
Très bon rapport qualité /prix.
Je recommande sans hésiter
Thank you for your kind words. Please come again before we close this site on 21st December.
The duck wellington was Amazing!
Awesome spot. Has improved from “already great” to “even better still” since the move from the pop-up. Great value, great service and wonderful cooking.
Thanks for the great write up, we aim to please. And apologies about the bell ringing - Chef got a telling off he day after!
We had a lovely late lunch. The ambience was intimate for us as there were not many people there at 3pm. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food excellent as it always is.
Thank you for all the stars, you review is much appreciated. Please come again before we close this site on 21st December.
Excellent magret -beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Lovely goat's cheese and walnut salad. Service really friendly and efficient. P.s It all goes very well with the Breton cider.
Thank you for the great review. Please come again before we close this site on 21st December.
The Wellington is a must!
The Wellington IS a must, you a right. But the whole menu is great. Come back for Le Grand Jeu before we close this site on 21st December,
It's not very often that we find our new favourite restaurant. Wow. Every single aspect of this meal was beyond 5 stars. The previous day we had eaten lunch at Le Gavroche and, in its own way, this meal at Monsieur Le Duck was up there right alongside that. The wait staff were superb; warm, friendly, welcoming and unobtrusive. The food was beautifully cooked and beautifully presented with a taste to match. My wife chose the burger - the best burger she has ever had, she said - and I chose the Magret de Canard, pan roasted. W shared one of the best crème brûlée ever, and finished with a delicious armagnac flavoured with prunes. This sounds a corny thing to say, but it was like stepping off the streets of London into the heart of the Gascony countryside. Truly outstanding.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. You understand exactly what we are all about and it is for people like you, and us, that we opened this restaurant in the first place. We never wanted to do fine dining, something that Le Gavroche so well, but there is a place for all types of restaurant, and I am glad that we are hitting the spot that we intended to. Come again before we close this site on 21st Dec!
Very very delicious duck, good wine, lovely service - a great new discovery and I'll definitely be back.
Worth going out of your way for
Thanks for all the stars. Please come again before we close this site on 21st December.
One of our favourite restaurants in London and once again we weren't disappointed. The magret here is cooked to perfection.
Fantastic experience. 2pm on a Saturday afternoon for bottomless brunch. Great food! Service with a smile - prompt and friendly.
Would definitely recommend and revisit!
I would suggest because you can eat and try something new in a nice environment!
Prefect place for a quiet, cosy romantic meal. Start with a martini rossi, if you are trying to impress, order the duck wellington in advance. But, you can’t really go wrong!
Outstanding food. The Grand Jeu is a heavenly journey - the suggestion from the waitress as to which order to eat each bit was spot on. Wines good value. Interesting cocktails and Neck Oil on draft..... Best meal we have had for a very long time.
Hi, Thank you very much for the beautiful review. We are very keen on doing our best in order to provide a perfect experience and your comment is very much appreciated. Please come back soon :) Kind regards Sibilla
Great food and delicious wine!
Hi Esther, Thank you very much for the review, please come back soon. Kind regards, Sibilla
While making my reservation, your website asked if there were any special occasions. As it happens, it was my partner’s birthday on the day we arrived. The table next to us were presented with a birthday cake, however, surprise, surprise! There were no effort made by the member of staff despite having filled the details online.
How was that for service!
I am sorry that we missed the birthday note. Usually, we do provide a candle with the dessert to help you celebrate but it looks like we missed it this time. However, does not getting something extra for free really warrant a 2 star review? No mention of the food, the service, the drinks, ambiance or the pricing, just a grumpy message that you didn't get free stuff. We don't provide cake in the restaurant, the table next to you brought their own cake and candles. One word for you: "Entitled"
We had an offer from Time Out which was great value for 3 courses and a glass of fizz. However the waitress suggested we try the duck sharing platter. It was fantastic. Great way to try all the variations they have on the menu.
Bit off our normal track but we will definitely be going back. Great surroundings. Friendly, helpful staff with great food.
Hi Mark, Thank you for the review, we are very happy that you could enjoy the experience with us. Please come back soon. Kind regards, Sibilla
Every single dish was tasty , delicious and value for money.
If you like duck then you will love this place. The service was a but slow, as there were only 2 servers for the whole restaurant
Hi Stelios, Thank you for your positive feedback. I do apologize for the service, we were not expecting such a busy day but we learned the lesson and added extra members of staff. We hope to see you soon, Kind regards Sibilla
Duck breast pan fried & the burger were on point - cooking temps perfect.
Fries slightly over seasoned but I'm a salt enthusiast.
Overall we had a great time as the service was attentive & friendly
Hi Andrew, Thank you very much for your feedback, please come back soon and I promise we are going to ease up on the seasoning on the fries :)
A good idea poorly executed, we had the sharing plate, the breast was not fully rested so the first piece we ate was tough, another piece had not been butchered correctly and still had sinew attached very difficult to eat. The confit leg was dry rather than melting and unctuous, the burger was great and the fries were also very good.
They serve onto cold plates so your Jus becomes a cold sticky blob.
Overall rather underwhelming
Hi Douglas, I am sorry to hear that your experience was not up to our standards. We do take this feedback very seriously and I would like to know if you could give me some more details about when this has happened, that would give us the chance to investigate. Has anyone checked on your food/did you mention it to any member of the staff? Kind regards, Sibilla
very friendly staff and most generous with the prosecco. an unusual brunch menu
Hi Dianah, Thank you very much for your review, please come back soon for our brunch. Kind regards Sibilla, Assistant General Manager
Let’s start with a very important caveat. If your or any of your parties entirely noble and selfless principles preclude you from dining on our web footed friends, then please stop reading. London has an abundance of restaurants that serve excellent vegetarian and vegan dishes amongst a omnivorous menu. Go seek them out and come here when you’re less morally encumbered.
Similarly, if you simply don’t like the fatty opulence of a perfectly prepared slice of wild fowl, scroll on. Go seek help.
For those still reading, you are in for something of a treat, as Monsieur Le Duck brings something new and very welcome to the London restaurant scene. In case the name of the restaurant and my warning eluded you, let’s make it clear: this is a duck restaurant. They serve duck. The starters are duck based. Your choice of mains will be confit, breast or duck burger. Only when you get to desert will you find Donald and Daffy given a break.
This should of course be no problem when the duck is cooked as lovingly and accurately as it is at MLD. In the names of greed and economy, my friend and I opt for the Prix Fixe which is available daily and nightly. For seventeen quid, we are served a delightful bowl of leaves that have been greased with a simple mustard dressing. It’s simple and it works incredibly well; why over complicate such a thing?
The main event comes in the form of a confit that is as deeply flavoured and succulent as you’d pray for it to be. It’s skin has a crispiest that would rival some of the best Chinese offerings. We both gnaw on our bones and wish we had gone for Le Grande Jeu, which offers a handsome chunk of all the preparations for two to share.
The fries are just what they should always be but so rarely are - hot, crispy and utterly addictive - whilst the greens with ham really do taste exactly like the south of France.
We eschew the fine looking desserts in favour of a very well balanced and generous cheeseboard. Space stops further praise - go!!
Thank you Peter, for your kind review. Come back again soon and try the magret - you are in for a treat!
We appreciated most that our kids were warmly welcomed and taken into account and care off. The food is esquisite and the wine (we took the Sud Ouest Malbec) was really impressive.
Hi Marius, Thank you very much for your fantastic review, we do hope that you and your kids will be back soon. Kind regards. Sibilla
Quality of food was very good, although duck dishes would benefit from some sauce/gravy/vegetables for greater balance. Excellent atmosphere and warm and efficient staff. Will recommend to friends.
Hi, Thank you for your positive feedback and please come back soon. Kind regards, Sibilla
