Moro and Morito chef proprietors, Sam & Sam Clark, have opened their third restaurant, located at 195 Hackney Road.

In keeping with Moro and Morito on Exmouth Market, Hackney Road will draw influences from Southern Spain, North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean including the island of Crete where Head Chef Marianna Leivaditaki grew up and worked in her family’s fish restaurant. Samantha and Marianna have worked hard sourcing exceptional produce, some of which is not yet available in London.

We have concise offering of wines from the Mediterranean - primarily mainland Spain and Portugal - with a couple of lesser known wines from the Canary Islands. There is a selection of sparkling, white, red, pink, and orange wines, with many available by the glass. For those looking to venture past these, there is also a list of Sherry and Vermouth.

Hair in my food. Service was lacking. Food was overpriced. Have been to Morito for many years but won’t be returning - definitely declined.

Unfortunately I observed someone from the staff eating several spoonfuls out of a bowl in the kitchen. Another person came and tasted the dish putting the spoon away. Once I saw it I haven’t left my eyes of the bowl to see what will happen. The chef just topped it up with more tabbouleh. When I complained I‘ve been told that the bowl has been swapped for a new one and that it was the usual staff tasting. Especially the chef made me feel like an idiot. But the bowl hasn’t been swapped unless in some magic Super quick blink of my eye. I understand that things should be tasted before being served, but that was not the case. And somehow in my naivety I hope that the spoon will be put away. The manager was polite but we haven’t been offered any refund or deduction from our bill. It spoiled our evening outand I will never go there again.

The food was lovely and drinks were good value. The staff were kind and informative but there should have been some music playing, particularly at the beginning when the restaurant was relatively empty.

Amazing food – an inspiring combination of Spanish and Middle Eastern – and very generous servings, especially of the starters within the set menu. Very nice atmosphere and good service.

I love this place! Food and service is always outstanding, we had really delicious lamb cutlets, labneh, artichoke, squid, beetroot salad, warm breads, fresh and chilled white wine- totally lovely.
It always feels relaxed and unhassled, even when it’s busy, which it was the Friday evening we went.
I’ll definitely be going back.

Morito is a great restaurant. The only thing is that on Monday they have started doing vegan day. Whilst the vegan dishes were tasty but felt that it would have been better if they had included vegetarian dishes as well as vegan so that there is more choice and selection i.e. vegetarians can eat dairy so they could have included some of their veggie dishes from their normal menu.

We dined in the morning on a Sunday, which meant the restaurant was quite busy. We didn't have a set server to take care of us, instead we were being helped by three different individuals, which made the dining experience a bit chaotic. The food was excellent, though I'd hope for a bit more variety - when you order scrambled eggs for around £8, you only get a slice of toast with it - the plate isn't even garnished. I hoped for some grilled tomatoes at least!

The drinks were okay, if slightly pricey.

I'm general, I might return to try out the dinner menu, but wouldn't recommend it for breakfast - go to Dishoom instead!

Table wasn't ready only got half of table as family taking ages to vacate the other half. Service was lacking, it took 25 mins for someone to take a drinks order! Then took ages to get jugs of water. Food portions small and not worth the £30 set menu. Too noisy and cramped! The food was lovely just not enough. The lamb chops were spicy but that wasn't described on the menu. I am torn as I would go back for the food but I think that the service could be better.

We have always been fans of Sam & Sam Clarke's Moro cook books so was very much looking forward to our visit. It didn't disappoint, amazing fusion of flavour in every dish we had. My duck breast with pomegranate molasses was an amazing dish. Also the staff we encountered were very friendly, very informative and aware of the food and drink on offer. Look forward to going back again. Thank you.

Food is delicious and reasonable value, wine by the bottle is expensive. Service ranged from attentive to suddenly not being around and forgot one of the dishes. Round table quite small for 4 people sharing dishes.

Food and ambience was great! We got to the restaurant earlier than most people and I think when the restaurant got busier the waitress forgot about us. We had to flag her down every time we needed something. They also accidentally gave our bread to someone else twice. But, I don't want that to underpin how delicious the food was. Would definitely go back.

Morito Hackney's usually lovely, or at least a safe bet. Sadly, on this evening the staff were dismissive and brusque. When my dinner-mate was served an overly oily dessert, and simply asked about its recipe and methodology, she was met with an impatient and rude tone. Overall, staff weren't very attentive and we struggled to catch their eye to ask for our bill and to order our food. Worst of all, the menu itself seems to have slumped, featuring dishes like patatas bravas and aioli, inching away from Morito's North African roots on its seasonal menus a couple of years ago.
