Moro restaurant in London’s Exmouth Market may retain its reputation as one of the hippest restaurants in one of the hippest parts of the capital, but this Clerkenwell restaurant still focuses more on good food than its own image. Moro’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar, open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven, is functional and welcoming. Cuisine of the southern Mediterranean, from the Iberian Peninsula into Northern Africa, is the menu’s exclusive province. This Moorish cuisine with European influence is every bit as striking as it was when the restaurant opened its doors in 1997. Moro’s menu changes weekly to reflect the freshest of seasonal produce, and there is a shortish list of tapas too. The wine list shows the owner's passion for sherry, a wine first brought to Jerez by the Phoenicians, with nearly two dozen available, many by the glass.

As always the food was excellent. the service was relaxed, friendly and efficient without being intrusive.
Perhaps it is our aging ears, but it did seem noisy and it was a little difficult to hear one another.
Twenty years after my first visit Moro remains one of my favourite London restaurants.

Moro used to be my favourite but unfortunately, it seems to have lost some of its greatness. We had a 3 course meal and out of the whole thing, i only remember the wine, the bread and the aubergine side dish that came with my main dish. Everything else was not overly spectacular. Moro, please bring back your glory days.

One of the best restaurants in Exmouth Market. It could do with more soft furnishings to help with the noise. Would highly recommend it

Food was tasty, but portion sizes were small and we found it to be overall, very expensive (our bill for 2 x mains and a bottle of wine was £88!). Will not be going back.

I have always enjoyed Moro and have been here many times over the years. This visit after about 18 months of the last was slightly disappointing. The food was good but not wow. I also felt it was a little overpriced for what it was. Waiter was nice, no complaints, but I felt the seating was cramped - almost on top of the couples on either side, and the restaurant was extremely noisy, it was difficult to have a conversation - a persistent slight unease about having to speak louder than what was comfortable, and being conscious this would perhaps be invasive for those on either side.

A delicious post Flamenco supper.
Both fish dishes were wonderfully flavoured. Fish cooked lightly so melted in the mouth. Imaginative vegetables which complemented the fish. And yummy crunchy bits as well.
Oh, and potatoes with aoli to die for.
Much appreciated the special offer of free Prosecco with pomegranate. Sadly no room for the free pudding.
The staff were delightful. Smiley and friendly and provided excellent service.
Definitely would return.

The food at Moro was just divine.
I ordered 2 starters, a cuttlefish and octopus salad. Both were absolutely delicious, although the octopus salad could have been a bit more generous with the actual octopus. My main was grilled seabass which was one of the best dishes I have tried in the past year - highly recommend.

We had a nice meal at Moro. The fish was excellent, though the 'porc belly with figs' was oversalted and had only one quarter of a fig on it. Desserts were fine. Vegetarian options are poor. Staff was very friendly. Toilets were not very clean...

Friends don't let friends dine at Moro. I found Moro on the Eater 38 for London. Place sucked.

We asked for a quieter table and were seated in an alcove that had to be the loudest part of the restaurant. Noise level was deafening because every sound from our neighbors echoed and amplified in the small room.

Octopus and cuttlefish appetizers were visually unappealing and didn't taste anything special. Just chopped seafood in puddles of watery sauce.

Entress were too salty. Yuck.

We are not new to Moro, but now live outside London and whenever we go there I wish we lived nearer. It seems to me to be the ideal restaurant for all age groups who enjoy food and wine.
All the catagories are 5 star.

Have eaten here a few times, food is excellent, good atmosphere, helpful staff, as usual a nice relaxing experience, noise level a bit high, lots of chatting but that's what you go out for, luckily no music to add to it.
As always, a great time, hopefully visit again soon

Beautiful, tasty food and lovely atmosphere. My only criticism - I ordered John Dory with potatoes and greens, however I only received two small pieces of potato (one jersey new potato, halved!) on my dish... bit disappointing!
Other than that - absolutely gorgeous.

We were really looking forward to eating at Moro after having been recommended it by several friends. I think maybe my expectations were too high - all in all it was a ‘good’ experience but I was expecting better. The food was very overpriced for what it was. I had the cod, which was beautifully cooked but didn’t really go with what else was on the plate. Nice enough, but underwhelming.

Disappointing meal, in particular the sweetbreads which were over cooked and looked like (and tasted a bit like) chicken nuggets. Also a delicate sole which was of perfect consistency was murdered by an oily overpowering sauce. On the other hand the pollock dish was excellent and the service attentive without being overbearing. We also had a delicious Spanish frizzante wine at a reasonable price. The ambiance was pleasant but the restaurant very noisy and not good for anyone with hearing difficulties.

The food was very good if a little "under-presented". Disappointing to have only 1 bottle of alcohol beer in stock. Service as fast and perfectly pleasant. I thought the "discretionary" addition of a 12.5% service charge was a bit cheeky. In my case it would have amounted to a £28 tip! However the waiter headed this off at the pass - well done!

The food was excellent as always but this time we were let down by very poor service waiters who seemed to bypass us or take exceptionally long to bring drinks/ menus etc, so much so that we cancelled our last round of drinks after 10 minutes as they still hadn't arrived and went to a local pub instead.
Shame as the food is exceptional

I had one of the best meals of my life at Moro three years ago; this meal was a disappointment . I consulted with friends who also agreed that Moro used to be incredible but has declined significantly recently. I was sad: the food portions were tiny and didn’t taste particularly good at all. I had been so excited to return, but ultimately felt like we paid far too much money for a very mediocre dinner.

We came here for a special occasion and the food rose to the occasion. We were surprised that the service was a bit slow and the restaurant was only half-full, perhaps a result of a Sunday evening reservation. The scallops and turbot were spectacular and the desserts blew us away, which were perfectly matched with dessert wine and port. In the end, a truly memorable 40th birthday and trip from the US to the UK!

It is a few years since I have been to Moro and the restaurant lay out , busily noisy is still the same . However food definitely not the same , very large tough scallops with courgette fritters and a salad did not look and was not appetising. Apart from the lamb we all felt a little under whelmed by the food. sorry will not be returning
