Add a piping hot pie, free range sausages or vegetarian option.. pour on your choice of fresh gravy.. and you'r done. Feel all warm and friendly.
Great service and great food. Have been here a few times and always love coming back.
Not very much atmosphere, and certainly not service with a smile. Food was nice, but was pricy for pie and mash really.
Great place to bring your foreign friends for a casual but very authentic lunch or dinner.
Exactly what it says on the tin! Food is good but a little pricey.
Excellent service, great value for money, & very attentive staff. Food is fabulous to boot. There aren’t many tables, as it’s a fairly small establishment, so booking could be advised. But overall, I thoroughly recommend this place.
Poor quality. Seating small, uncomfortable wooden slats. Staff inattentive. Mash was greasy and tasteless, pie soggy. Both heated in microwave. Wish had just walked out.
Amazing food, fairly priced. Will definitely be going back for a 2nd visit
Staff are really friendly and very welcoming. Food is served really quickly and tastes great. Will definitely be back and would defo recommend for anyone who is craving pie and mash!
Staff all friendly, and quality of good is great.
Nice cosy atmosphere.
Incredible food and really good value for the price
Gorgeous pie and mash! Excellent prices for the location, would definitely eat here again!
My new favourite restaurant. Waitress was incredibly nice and the food was SPOT ON, and I usually find it hard to find good vegan options.
Mother Mash is the essence of "do few things very well." One of those things is dessert, be sure to save room.
Also, when reserving on open table be sure to give plenty of lead time. We attempted to book about an hour before our arrival and they had not yet been able to confirm by the time we got there. We got lucky that someone had canceled, so we were seated immediately, but the staff recommends 2-4 hours. Book early (and often).
Absolutely loved the food. The service however would put me off returning. Staff were quite rude and talking to each other and made you feel like they wanted you out ASAP. Which is a pity because otherwise it would be outstanding.
Loved it here. Food was delicious and good value. Friendly and polite staff. Don’t even think of getting in without booking. Saw so many people turned away.
The food was tasty and good value. We had meat pies and they were excellent. The service was friendly and the ambience was pleasant. The only issue was that the seating isn't particularly comfortable. We would have no hesitation going back.
Nice big portions of straight forward, good quality grub. Probably one of the least pretentious and most friendly independent restaurants I've been to in London.
Great food and staff were incredibly friendly. Small inside but the food is delicious
We ate at Mother Mash on a Friday lunchtime and taking the advice of other reviewers, made sure that we booked a table in advance. When we arrived it was not too busy but it certainly filled to capacity, soon after. Others have commented on the service not being the best but our experience was very positive. We received a friendly greeting and were quickly shown to our table. The service was very efficient and the staff were extremely helpful. The pies, mash and gravy were excellent; really tasty comfort food. Drinks were good, too. Compared to the price of having pie and mash in a pub, it was not bad value, either. I would happily return and would not hesitate to recommend.
The service and the price wad good but the food not so much
Comfort food just as it should be 👍
and friendly staff too ❤
Gravy was amazing, mash was amazing, pie was amazing. Everything was just great.
Really awesome food. There was a continuous line out the door. They were short-staffed the Friday night we went but it was great. I would highly recommend going and making sure you have a reservation.
If you are going for the first time, I would choose the basics as they are rock solid. We ventured off with the special of the day and sweet potato mash. Still very good but the Horseradish Mash + Cumberland sausage and Traditional gravy was amazing. Family wants to come back here next time we're in London.
Very good food, nice people serving and welcome environment
Good food, great location . Worked well for our party of 6 with 3 kids and so helpful to be able to book in advance. Perfect menu for a chilly January day.
If you grew up on mashed potato you’ll love this place. Not cheap but still good value as delivers what it says it will. Service friendly and efficient but didn’t hustle us out despite being busy.
Simple, delicious bangers and mash! Filling portions.
Great food, good selection, very welcoming service.
Amazing welcome, friendly staff.
Don't hesitate to reserve a spot!
My daughter chose this place as a pre Christmas treat. The restaurant is smaller than I imagined it would be but there was plenty of room. Luckily we had booked a table which we were shown to by a waitress who simply walked away from us and threw the menus on the table and then walked away again! There was limited interaction between myself and the servers although the guy who was working there did seem slightly more friendly. The food was delicious but they did forget to bring a drink I had ordered. On the whole I think I would recommend it for the food but not for the service, maybe staff should not have their phones on them whilst working.
Great food, friendly staff. Service was a bit slow but overall it was a great experience. Would recommend, and will be going back
Service was appalling....no offer of sides. No one came back to the table to see if we wanted more drinks or a dessert.TERRIBLE.
Sort out your waitresses!
Food was very nice.
Excellent traditional food. No frills or fancy sauces, good wholesome meal and enjoyed by all
Can't fault the food, really good value, filling and delicious home cooked tasting food. It's a shame the staff did not live up to the same standards. Arguing in front of customers, not attentive, flustered and hair not tied up meaning it would hang it the food.
Took out my 2 sons for an Xmas beer and meal, pie and mash is a must if you are anywhere near Oxford Street. Mother Mash never disappoints, loads of variances can be chosen between the type of mash and type of pie. The desserts are great as well. Not the cheapest pie and mash I have had, but really good quality as are the desserts are quality as well, hence quality comes at a cost. Taking the choices and variances available and also the quality of the food and cooking I think it is value for money and I will definitely be back for more.
I have visited this restaurant on several occasions and enjoy each visit as you provide a good tasty meal for under £10, which is a bargain increasingly hard to find in central London. Staff are always friendly and the service is swift and accurate.
We were visiting London for the day so found this place on google. What a gem of a find.
Loved the menu, one of us was a veggie which wasn’t a problem. The goats cheese and butternut squash pie was lovely. We all enjoyed our different mashes and loved the gravy’s as well. Would definitely revisit.
Our only tiny moan was how tight for space the tables were.
Tasty food, good quick service, great for families, small groups and couples alike.
..............it was oke...................................!!!!!!
Great food so tasty home cooking. Staff friendly and helpful. Must book in advance to avoid disappointment.
