Moxon's Next Door Restaurant
of fish and seafood with accurate cooking techniques
to bring you a selection of bar snacks, small sharing plates, whole roasted fish and a selection of Moxon's smoked fish.
We love this place and have been numerous times. The menu is excellent, as is the atmosphere.
We had the best meal I have had for some time. Superb flavours, unusual dishes and wonderful fish. Great service and lovely wine list across all price brackets. What more do you need?!
Lovely food great staff. An amazing g local restaurant.
Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. Dishes are simple and served well. It is expensive but worth it for a real treat.
Next Door is a haven for fish lovers. Great quality fish served in a relaxed setting. Whole John Dory was excellent and perfectly cooked. Similarly jersey royal and tender stem broccoli provided perfect accompaniment. Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced for London location
Lovely little place and great staff - informed and ready with ideas. However, the food was average and the prices sky high for a local restaurant. Definitely not good value.
Food and service excellent. Fish quality outstanding.
Great food , helpful and very pleasant staff and good vibe. Overall it good a bit too loud for us but other patrons may enjoy that.
The food was outstanding and the service is very good and attentive. If there are four of you ask for the table at the back. It is not so noisy.
Great food and service.
Would definitely recommend this place - food delicious, especially the main fish to share and the cheeses. Nice relaxed atmosphere and didn't feel rushed at any point. Only points for improvement really would be a bit more space between the tables towards the front (though appreciate this might not be possible), and a little bit more generous with the cheese plate
Once again Next Door (to Moxons) did not disappoint.
A slightly rough start as we had a short wait as our table wasn't ready. We were soon seated though followed by drinks and bread.
Order taken and wine followed. They even offered a taste before we chose half a bottle which I thought was a nice touch.
Couldn't fault the service or the food. Starters were tasty and the main roasted Hake and sides were perfectly cooked and expertly deboned at the table
The service was attentive throughout without being intrusive
A great meal out.
Absolutely delicious! The fish was suoer fresh and delicate. Well presented. I recommend the King scallops. A curated wine lust. The service was friendly welcoming charming. A delghtful neighbourhood restaurant which is destination worthy.
Lovely little restaurant- can feel cramped when all tables are occupied. Fresh, tasty, well prepared small plates to share
Absolutely delicious food once again! We treated ourselves to the turbot and certainly didn't regret. And very good as before...
Lovely place. Food was excellent and had a great evening there. The only thing is that the Oysters were opened vert messily with some parts missing. But then again, I didn't complain as I didn't want to spoil the lovely ambiance of the evening. However, this is is why I don't give 5 stars
A lovely birthday meal for my partner. We struggled to restrain ourselves to just 5 dishes to share and it would have been all too easy to completely pig out and order everything.
Will definitely return!
Don't like this move to tapas type food. You end up not knowing how much to order and you spend far more than you want to spend and sometimes don't even feel full. What has happened to old fashioned main course at a good price?
There were only 2 'proper' main course on offer and they were quite pricey.
Would much prefer a traditional menu. Seems as if tapas style food appearing everywhere may be driven more by needs of restaurant to control stock than customers' wishes. But only my opinion - just disappointed as was expecting a traditional fish restaurant.
The food was really delicious - we got five sharing plates and some chips for two of us and every plate was so tasty and interesting. Highly recommend the crab risotto and scallops, also the mackerel macaroni was very tasty.
Amazing lunch sat outside in the sun. Food was delicious, shame the risotto and cauli ran out! obviously very popular. x
We had starters of tuna tataki and crab risotto. Both were nice. We shared a brill and sides of broccoli and chips which was very tasty. Finished with yummy rhubarb possets. Service was very good. £34 did seem quite a lot for the fish.
Loved it. Reasonable, great service, amazing food.
Best fish restaurant I've been to.
A very pleasant first visit. The fish was beautifully cooked and presented. We shall be back to try the tasting menu
The food and wine were delicious .
The staff were helpful -
Service very quick ( a bit too quick as food arrived before the wine )
Tables packed in like sardines, no privacy.
Food ok but lacking flavor
Delicious fresh food served well in a calm relaxed ambience with good acoustics. Had five of the tapas sharing plates - especially loved the large plump scallops and red snapper and mussel stew. The rhubarb posset was divine with just the right tang. Will go again to try other dishes.
Wonderful to have this place within walking distance. We shared 5 small plates between two of us and each one was delicious.
We had the booth at the back which was lovely and private. Lovely food!
We are regulars here and love the food. Took American visitors who thought that the whole experience was outstanding
This small 11 table restaurant boasts excellent well-prepared seafood and great friendly service, all at reasonable prices. Book ahead. You won’t be disappointed - it’s worth the journey!
This was our second visit to Moxon's and once again it was fantastic. Great variety of small plates and everything we ordered was delicious - the crab risotto and potted haddock were particularly good. A lovely setting and attentive service too. Would definitely recommend.
Outstanding and delicious food as usual and our waitress was delightful .
This is the second time I've been here in two months. This time we tried the sweet potato gnocchi and haddock to start, followed by the roasted brill with a side of chips and broccoli. As before, the food was faultless. It's the best fish in London, I think. Will definitely be back before long.
Really delicious small plates. A very welcome addition to the East Dulwich restaurant scene.
Have taken many friends. It is always Superb. The staff are warm and friendly
Great food, truly excellent
We are reasonably regular Moxons eaters, and in fact are coming again next month. The previous visit was fantastic, this time less so. We are not sure what it was, but the food was less memorable and no 'wow' factor - I think the menu (we always have a selection of small plates) was perhaps less adventurous than before and the cooking not as good or tasty? The fact that our favourite dish was the cup of prawns probably sums it up. Anyhow it had been our favourite place to eat in East Dulwich, so we will give it another go next month!
Wonderful food and service, very cosy ambiance as well!
Really great food, loved spending time with my family in here. Wine was amazing and the service was friendly. We had a great time slot and they were understanding that we were running 15 mins late. Can't wait to go again and take more friends and family.
So good I was tempted to keep it a secret! Perfectly located near the cinema for date night, the cosy space is warm and inviting. Tables are much too small for all the delicious sharing plates, but the charming serving staff somehow juggle all the tableware to make it work. All the dishes are given equal attention - sides are not ‘also rans’, but of course the spotlight is on the seafood; gently pickled herring, sweet Atlantic prawns and the palest taramasalata. Foodie heaven. The wine list is surprisingly good too.
