Moxon's Next Door Restaurant
of fish and seafood with accurate cooking techniques
to bring you a selection of bar snacks, small sharing plates, whole roasted fish and a selection of Moxon's smoked fish.
Wonderful to have this place within walking distance. We shared 5 small plates between two of us and each one was delicious.
We are regulars here and love the food. Took American visitors who thought that the whole experience was outstanding
This small 11 table restaurant boasts excellent well-prepared seafood and great friendly service, all at reasonable prices. Book ahead. You won’t be disappointed - it’s worth the journey!
This was our second visit to Moxon's and once again it was fantastic. Great variety of small plates and everything we ordered was delicious - the crab risotto and potted haddock were particularly good. A lovely setting and attentive service too. Would definitely recommend.
Outstanding and delicious food as usual and our waitress was delightful .
This is the second time I've been here in two months. This time we tried the sweet potato gnocchi and haddock to start, followed by the roasted brill with a side of chips and broccoli. As before, the food was faultless. It's the best fish in London, I think. Will definitely be back before long.
Really delicious small plates. A very welcome addition to the East Dulwich restaurant scene.
Have taken many friends. It is always Superb. The staff are warm and friendly
Great food, truly excellent
We are reasonably regular Moxons eaters, and in fact are coming again next month. The previous visit was fantastic, this time less so. We are not sure what it was, but the food was less memorable and no 'wow' factor - I think the menu (we always have a selection of small plates) was perhaps less adventurous than before and the cooking not as good or tasty? The fact that our favourite dish was the cup of prawns probably sums it up. Anyhow it had been our favourite place to eat in East Dulwich, so we will give it another go next month!
Wonderful food and service, very cosy ambiance as well!
Really great food, loved spending time with my family in here. Wine was amazing and the service was friendly. We had a great time slot and they were understanding that we were running 15 mins late. Can't wait to go again and take more friends and family.
So good I was tempted to keep it a secret! Perfectly located near the cinema for date night, the cosy space is warm and inviting. Tables are much too small for all the delicious sharing plates, but the charming serving staff somehow juggle all the tableware to make it work. All the dishes are given equal attention - sides are not ‘also rans’, but of course the spotlight is on the seafood; gently pickled herring, sweet Atlantic prawns and the palest taramasalata. Foodie heaven. The wine list is surprisingly good too.
fresh food, skillfully prepared, everything delicious, relaxed and good service.
Excellent friendly service. Romantic atmosphere. We had a few dishes to share - particularly enjoyed the tuna tataki dish and monkfish cheeks curry. Lovely evening.
Lovely, imaginative fish based food. Delightful staff.
We have been going to Next Door since it opened. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the food which is very good value for top class fish.
excellent food, friendly service, well done! fan overhead a bit distracting
The food and service were great, An inventive range of seafood dishes that were all delicious.
Beautifully presented, fresh, tasty food served by warm, attentive, professional staff . Its a good place to fish lovers who want to try something different.
Delicious food, good wine list & friendly service. I went with my goddaughter and her sister (very belated birthday treat). We were given a lovely table set at the rear of the restaurant which was perfect for our dinner...we all enjoyed it and want to go again soon! Thank you.
Amazing food, great service and charming atmosphere
The best seafood we have had in along time, the oysters were amazing and so was the monkfish cheeks served in a vindaloo sauce, then came the star of the show the Gilt Head Bream as part of a Sunday Roast Fish lunch, so different and yet so delightful and tasty and fresh, cant wait to visit again and would definitely recommend. Two very happy customers, although i was slightly disappointed that they had taken the chocolate pear tart off the menu for some reason.
Went with two friends, one of whom is a vegetarian, and and as such this restaurant was perfect. We all really enjoyed the sharing concept and all enjoyed a variety of interesting and tasty courses.
Excellent occasion. Didn't see Disabled access for the toilets Food very good and service ecallent Friendly staff.
Very nice, good food, great service all the team friendly and infomative....food delicious....
It was very cosy and the food was beautiful I don’t really like not eat fish food but my partner likes it so I thought we will give it a go. You have change my view on fish for ever thank you
Very good fish and vegetarian options based on fresh ingredients. Good Negronis too!
Great food with a good choice of fish dishes as well as vegetarian options. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely go again.
I had my second visit to this wonderful restaurant on Sunday. It was perfect. Fresh, delicious food, imaginatively cooked and presented. Seemingly simple but really considered and exciting. I thought it very good value, the choices were excellent, the staff happy and helpful.
absolutely delicious, can't recommend it highly enough!
Three of us enjoyed a very tasting selection of small plates, none of which disappointed. Excellent service and reasonably priced wine. Both the lemon tart and plum tartin were real treats to end our meal.
The service and food was excellent as usual
Fantastic meal with friends. Great quality ingredients (as you’d expect from Moxon)
Friendly, knowledgable staff and a great addition to the neighbourhood. Looking forward to future visits.
We shared a number of small plates and then a whole roast fish. The food was delicious and the atmosphere really friendly and intimate. Would hightly recommend a visit.
Delicious food and perfect service. Wonderful as ever!
Another delightful evening as this fabulous neighbourhood gem. Next door to East Dulwich’s fabulous fishmonger Moxons, the ingredients are exceptional, fresh and in season. Diners are offered a choice of several smaller plates or a roasted fish of the day to share. We chose the smaller plates and enjoyed tuna tataki, grilled scallops, smoked mackerel pâté, salt cod mash and Swiss racklette on toast along with a fresh green salad and all washed down with a very drinkable Riesling.
It’s a great addition to Lordship Lane and despite being cosy and feeling somewhat acquainted with the diners on the tables next to you, it makes for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Good range of options considering you are in a fish restaurant, we only had a selection of small plates and liked them. It is quite creative, it's not michelin stars material but certainly interesting, the wine list was a good match for the food too. On the negative side, we found the tables a little too close to one an other. In our opinion, by Dulwich standard, this is Top 3 by far, so great addition (The Palmerston and Yama-Momo being the other 2).
Our guests said that the ambiance reminded him of his favourite Paris Bistro but that the food was better. We also liked the fact that the noiselevel was kept low so one could have a decent conversation. We were there on a Tuesday evening and it was packed but the service was done with a smile.
Nice way to spend a Saturday evening - good fresh food well prepared
