Moxon's Next Door Restaurant
of fish and seafood with accurate cooking techniques
to bring you a selection of bar snacks, small sharing plates, whole roasted fish and a selection of Moxon's smoked fish.
Always delicious, great food and friendly efficient staff
A delightful place, ambience great with bistro feel and the service splendid. The food selection varied and what I had delicious...highly recommended.
Great service and great food
We had the Sunday roast fish which was great! A whole fish with all the sides (the roast potatoes were particularly amazing!). We also shared a few starters and small plates. There was something for everyone and we all left very happy.
Lovely little restaurant.
Quite small but very intimate and perfect for a date. Whilst it was a little pricey (medium prices) the food was delicious and definitely work it.
Also really good wine menus with reasonably priced wines!!
A charming friendly neighbourhood restaurant affiliated to Moxon’s fish shop next door (hence name). Fish is super fresh. Some of the best oysters I’ve had in a long time. The small plates are generous and we chose three, including half a dozen oysters and it was ample fare for two. A boon for bustling East Dulwich.
Delicious fresh fish! We had the John Dory to share and the fish was lovely - a little undercooked to start but the waiter took it away straight away and it was returned, properly cooked, within a couple of minutes. The chips were lovely and crispy and the green salad had a lovely dressing.
You go for the fish, which is super-fresh and cooked to perfection. Three different fish baked in the oven for 2-3 people ("large plates"), with perfectly cooked sides. Several "small plates" which are individually delicious but don't quite make a meal. So this is not a place to eat alone, save for a lightish lunch, since the large plates are far too much for one person. (Could they start baking fish for one?). The restaurant is cramped and buzzy, with friendly service. Not cheap, but fish isn't, and shouldn't be.
Not a dud dish in sight, I sense I will be back here a lot!
Stunning food and lovely friendly service. Only downside is that the small size makes it crowded and a bit noisy so not good for an intimate meal. It definitely will not stop us returning again and again as the food is second to none
Excellent post-cinema meal - really love our 'normal' table at the back. Small plates were really good, crab, oysters, cauliflower, scallops - all top class.
Great and local too good atmosphere friendly service delicious food
A consistently excellent restaurant- delicious food
Brilliant food, delicious fresh perfectly cooked fish. Friendly staff. Had a lovely meal with family here
Five of us went to Moxon’s Next Door for my Birthday. The food was exceptionally good. All the staff were fantastic, very attentive and informative and had great advice on how much we should order which was spot on. It was very busy when we arrived and although there were lots of conversations going on in quite a small space it didn’t feel too loud just created a good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it and will go again hopefully soon!
The food was lovely but the service was disappointingly inattentive, especially for a restaurant which isn't cheap. I asked for a glass of wine with the main course which never appeared and there was no opportunity to say thank you and good night as we left as the staff totally ignored our departure.
These guys know fish. The catch of the day to share (usually at least 2 options on the blackboard) with great chips is always fabulous. We've tried most of the small plates too and they've all been winners.
great fresh fish enterprising small plates attentive service
Excellent as always.
Excellent service and food and we picked our fish up after from the fishmonger
I absolutely love this place and I can’t fault it!
We love this place and have been numerous times. The menu is excellent, as is the atmosphere.
We had the best meal I have had for some time. Superb flavours, unusual dishes and wonderful fish. Great service and lovely wine list across all price brackets. What more do you need?!
Lovely food great staff. An amazing g local restaurant.
Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. Dishes are simple and served well. It is expensive but worth it for a real treat.
Next Door is a haven for fish lovers. Great quality fish served in a relaxed setting. Whole John Dory was excellent and perfectly cooked. Similarly jersey royal and tender stem broccoli provided perfect accompaniment. Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced for London location
Lovely little place and great staff - informed and ready with ideas. However, the food was average and the prices sky high for a local restaurant. Definitely not good value.
Food and service excellent. Fish quality outstanding.
Great food , helpful and very pleasant staff and good vibe. Overall it good a bit too loud for us but other patrons may enjoy that.
The food was outstanding and the service is very good and attentive. If there are four of you ask for the table at the back. It is not so noisy.
Great food and service.
Would definitely recommend this place - food delicious, especially the main fish to share and the cheeses. Nice relaxed atmosphere and didn't feel rushed at any point. Only points for improvement really would be a bit more space between the tables towards the front (though appreciate this might not be possible), and a little bit more generous with the cheese plate
Once again Next Door (to Moxons) did not disappoint.
A slightly rough start as we had a short wait as our table wasn't ready. We were soon seated though followed by drinks and bread.
Order taken and wine followed. They even offered a taste before we chose half a bottle which I thought was a nice touch.
Couldn't fault the service or the food. Starters were tasty and the main roasted Hake and sides were perfectly cooked and expertly deboned at the table
The service was attentive throughout without being intrusive
A great meal out.
Absolutely delicious! The fish was suoer fresh and delicate. Well presented. I recommend the King scallops. A curated wine lust. The service was friendly welcoming charming. A delghtful neighbourhood restaurant which is destination worthy.
Lovely little restaurant- can feel cramped when all tables are occupied. Fresh, tasty, well prepared small plates to share
Absolutely delicious food once again! We treated ourselves to the turbot and certainly didn't regret. And very good as before...
Lovely place. Food was excellent and had a great evening there. The only thing is that the Oysters were opened vert messily with some parts missing. But then again, I didn't complain as I didn't want to spoil the lovely ambiance of the evening. However, this is is why I don't give 5 stars
A lovely birthday meal for my partner. We struggled to restrain ourselves to just 5 dishes to share and it would have been all too easy to completely pig out and order everything.
Will definitely return!
Don't like this move to tapas type food. You end up not knowing how much to order and you spend far more than you want to spend and sometimes don't even feel full. What has happened to old fashioned main course at a good price?
There were only 2 'proper' main course on offer and they were quite pricey.
Would much prefer a traditional menu. Seems as if tapas style food appearing everywhere may be driven more by needs of restaurant to control stock than customers' wishes. But only my opinion - just disappointed as was expecting a traditional fish restaurant.
