Excellent service and delicious food. We said we were in a hurry and they were really helpful, advising us that a couple of the courses would take half an hour and recommending superb dessert. Really good value for money. Definitely recommend for a pre-theatre meal.
The food was delicious and the service quick but the portions were smaller than we expected. House red was lovely!
Went here for a pre theatre. The place was empty but it’s kind of hidden so wasn’t overly concerned.
Looking at the menu it looked great so we planned to have a main and dessert, however we ordered the chicken burger and chips which we lovely but I ordered the pea risotto and it was inedible. The rice wasn’t cooked and the amount of salt actually meant I couldn’t eat it.
The staff were very apologetic but in a pre theatre you’re kind of up against the clock so no time to reorder so i shared the Chicken sandwich and made a dash for the door, no time for desert.
Showed so much promise such a shame it didn’t live up to the billing.
The drink menu is also pretty limited, wine sold mainly but the bottle.
Out of the busy festival drives, MP’s was calm and reinvigorating. Fresh and clean with experienced, well- trained staff, the Bistro’s food was excellent quality and perfectly cooked - no draft beer on offer but a fair selection of bottled Scottish and world ales, plus a good wine list. However, a bit of a trek to the toilets up and down stairs. MP’s is the restaurant of Parliament House Hotel, a quirky looking spot.
The food was very good. Our server Leigh was excellent.
The food and the staff here are always lovely - good choices for starters, mains and desserts, linen napkins and warm rolls to start with a small but decent wine list. The pre-theatre deal is such good value. The atmosphere is slightly lacking as the restaurant is rarely very busy. This has a bonus of being a great place to have a good catch up over dinner
As usual the food taste and presentation was great and such good value on the pre theatre deal. It’s lovely to get warm rolls and linen napkins. The staff are attentive without being obtrusive. The only wonder is why more people haven’t discovered this gem. By half way through our meal on a Saturday evening we were the only table left. It does mean that you can have a good chat without straining to hear what’s being said.
Great hidden find..... Service and food was perfect.... this is my 3rd time with many to follow
The food was absolutely delicious in a quiet and cozy atmosphere
My wife and I had the ore theatre menu which included a large glass of wine.We thought it was good value for money and sufficient to eat.
The service and ambience was good and it wasn't a hurried meal.
We would go back again
For anyone looking for a pre-theatre meal, I would strongly recommend. We had a very warm welcome, the food was absolutely beautiful and we will definitely return
I dined at the MPs Bistro on Sunday 25th February 2018. The service was fair, the staff were more interested in talking to each other than attending to the Diners. I selected chunky chips as a side order but found that they were wedges!!.
I would not recommend this restaurant to friends.
Lovely friendly staff and good food. Nice atmosphere and close to all city attractions
Food lovely, great quiet find, good location. Service was incredibly slow
Our meal was lovely very fresh local ingredients. The staff were very efficient and friendly.Great value for money as we had the pre theatre meal .We would recommend a visit to this bistro, nice and central and very easy to find.
We came here for the pre theatre menu. Amazing value for money as the food was lovely. Nice atmosphere and the staff were nice too.
Really nice restaurant with friendly staff food was delicious - we will be back
The food, service wine was 1st class and prices were very reasonable
Gorgeous food to set us up for the theatre. Excellent deal, good service.
Good choice even on the pre theatre menu. Attentive service and beautifully presented plates. Generous portions and delicious food.
Waiting time in between courses was too long although the staff did apologise. The food was excellent and the waiting staff were good
The food quality is very poor. My steak was probably frozen at some point. If you’re an American and like Ponderosa, you might like their steak. If you’re well traveled and have eaten in Michelin rated restaurants or perhaps visited a Relais&châteaux hotel, you will find this food utterly regrettable. That sounds snobbish, but I️ had to qualify my response so that others will not be mislead by the curiously high ratings.
Nice little and hidden Restaurant. Without Opentable we wouldn't have found it. Not overbooked. Good mussels.
Quiet even during the height of the festival and tucked away although near to Princes Street. Surprised to find it was part of a hotel!
Good food, although menu didn't seem as extensive as usual, so we all chose the burger. Beware having a starter as I had no room for pudding. The "lads" enjoyed the haggis bonbons.
Service was good and friendly. Nice to see the restaurant was busy
Visited the restaurant for the start of the festival. The atmosphere was really nice, the staff were very attentive. Our food was fantastic, we all had starters, a main course and desert.
Would highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant!!
We went here for a pre theatre dinner. It was our second visit. The food is excellent, the staff very friendly and the meal great value. Would highly recommend it!
Lovely staff, and delicious food at a very good price. Definitely a great place to have a delicious dinner
Friendly informal bistro just round the corner from Waterloo place. Had a great meal I had the North Berwick lobster followed by the Girotine Fondant - to die for! My wife had the lamb which she enjoyed followed by their home made ice cream Sundae. Was nice to go up to the hotel lounge and have a relaxing after dinner drink in comfy chairs. Would recoomend!
Avoid this mid level hotel restaurant... Food was below par and staff could care less
We enjoyed our meal overall but the soup was so thin my friend got fed up and gave up eating it with a spoon. A cup would have been better! Main course were better but fish was under seasoned.
Staff were very nice. Good atmosphere. Would try it again.
Very good new year's eve dinner. Even tho the place was very busy they did a very good job attending us. Very good staff.
Awful food and service. Extremely expensive for such a place
A hidden gem but well worth finding. Difficult to open door off the street but entry through hotel is very easy and staff excellent
We got shown upstairs to reception to wait on our table but then when the time came it transpired that the restaurant didn't have any record of our booking. The receptionist upstairs had a record though!? Anyway, despite some doubts about a table becoming available, as they were 'very busy', we got seated not too much later than our original time and everything from then on (service and food) was very good. It was more confusing than anything else, and it wouldn't stop us from using again. The receptionist did give us complimentary drinks as well, so fair play.
Desserts were lovely.
Food was average. Service was good but the restaurant was not even half full. The walk up the hill was a little steep but it wasn't far. Reasonably priced.
Went for Father's Day dinner with my partner. We had booked a pre-theatre menu which included a glass of wine. Value was good... though I was not as impressed about paying an additional £6 for the steak, and then having the steak arrived over-cooked & the chips arrive under cooked. Presentation of the other dishes was good; steak was not presented as well (which was noticeable since the other dishes were quite nice).
Ambiance is ok. The restaurant is in a tiled basement of a hotel. While it does have an external entrance, it still feels like a tiled basement.
We had 6pm reservations which we arrived a few minutes early for. The restaurant did not open until exactly 6pm - which was only challenging because I'm 7 1/2 month pregnant, so was left sitting on the steps to the restaurant until they opened the door.
Overall they were nice and the food was decent. We might go back, but not for a special occasion.
Had a lovely evening, food was delicious, staff were very pleasant, attentive but not intrusive.
was very quiet wit only a few diners in , hen the score for ambience. The decor and layout of the tables was excellent as you were too close to the next table which made the experience private but not isolated. Would definately recommend and have plans to take my daughter here when sh is at home.
Very pleasant restaurant short walk from Princess St/ Waverley station area. We had the pre-theatre deal which had a decent choice, well cooked and a large glass of wine to top it off. We had mussels and clams to start and then one of us had the cod the other the risotto. All done well and tasty ++. Service was delightful and ambiance nice. No hesitation in recommending.
