Mr. Dominic's on Main
Great service, great food and great portions for an affordable price. Good wine list for everyday drinking options. Beautiful historic home with huge ceilings and magnificent wood work, but very loud. Boisterous groups thoroughly enjoying a Friday night dinner. This isn't the place for a quiet romantic meal, but it was a perfect selection for family. Wish we'd had time to enjoy the outside patio and music.
Went on a Friday night. The place was pretty busy - even had a really large event going in a side room. Despite that, the service was spot on. Very attentive waitress and other staff as well. We were never left needing to flag anyone down.
Chicken and veal parmesan and surf and turf ordered at the table with a nice bottle of wine. The food was fantastic!
I really recommend trying this place if you're ever looking for a nice Italian meal!
I was looking for an authentic locally owned Italian restaurant. I definitely found it here!! The food was delicious and exactly what I was looking for. Our server, Donna, was great and I appreciated her patience with my questions. I wish we had a restaurant like this where I live.
Slow kitchen, but server was professional and helpful.
Service was poor. Sent my food back
Was overcharged for one of the meals
Normally place is great but not Sunday
Really like MrD’s
Hadn’t been in for a while and it’s still very good and we will definitely not wait so long before dining again
Great food, friendly atmosphere. Loved it! Service was really good. Waitress came by just enough, we never had to wait for her nor did we feel she was overbearing. Food was delicious with portions that were overly generous. All staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Cool, in Village of Fairport NY Mansion converted into awesome eatery
Began with fried calamari and a side salad--the calamari was fried perfectly with a very complimentary side of marinara sauce. My entree of lobster ravioli was delicious, although it was a little different in texture (lots of parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, changing the consistency of the sauce, which wasn't necessarily bad--just different) than I remembered it being when I had it at the Charlotte Beach location years ago. It was the perfect ambiance for a doctoral celebration with my aunt!
We love this restaurant. However, we had to send back the veal Marsala as the sauce was far too thin and winey.
They did remake it and it was better, although the veal was tough
However, our favorite waitress , Donna, did everything in her power to give us a positive experience. She gets 6 stars
Busy Friday night. Good service regardless. I wanted to try the fish fry even though it was a hot summer day. Excellent! Well worth it’s reputation as one of Rochester’s best! Very crispy batter coating tasty fish. Fries were coated to make them extra crunchy! My wife got the Chicken French. Very good and plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Desserts looked great but we were too full!
Not my best night out. My dish in particular did not resemble the description given in the menu. Sliced tenderloin should not look like dog's dish. My imported Italian wine left a ring of silt around my glass as we finished the bottle. Certainly this second visit was not as enjoyable as our first. Our server was quite personable and very competent. The hostess really should attempt a smile and not assume that a man and woman dressed in something other than a t-shirt and shorts might want a table in the bar and not the dining room. Afterall we did have a reservation.
Outstanding meal and service. Our party of five enjoyed the bar , server and the desserts . We we’re celebrating a bday and the team at Mr Dominic’s did not disappoint. Great meal
Halibut over escarole was flavorless and way over priced at $34. Italian dressing was lacking enough vinegar. Wait staff attempted to remove my plate before I was done. Best part of meal was the bread and our waiter.
Our server, Katie, was attentive and prompt and took great care of us. The lobster risotto appetizer special and the bracciole entree were both pretty salty. The stuffed pepper appetizer was bland. Drinks were fine. Our bill for two people before tip was over $115. We don’t mind paying this much but the food should be inspiring, not blah. Then to top it all off, when the family seated next to us left, the busboy’s half-effort to clean the table (a quick swipe with a towel that left crumbs all over the table before he reset it) left us wondering how well our table had been cleaned before our arrival. Likely we won’t be back.
Our family made the unfortunate decision to dine at this restaurant. We won’t make the same mistake twice. Our waitress, Kate, was unfriendly and inattentive. She had a very poor attitude from the moment she approached our table. Our meals were delivered and we didn’t see her again until the end when I had to tell her my scallops tasted like bleach and I could not eat them. (She only returned to us after the very hardworking and attentive busboy went to retrieve her). We were there after 8 pm and the restaurant was no longer busy. I can take a waitress who is unfriendly, if she is at least efficient in her job, but we lost on all accounts while dining at this restaurant. We walked into the restaurant in a great mood and walked out miserable. The manager came over after I complained that my scallops were inedible, due to the strong bleach like taste. He proceeded to tell me how he had never heard of such a thing. I wanted to ask him how long he has been in the restaurant business. The ammonia taste is the first sign of seafood gone bad!! Pretty basic stuff. Never again will my family dine at this restaurant. Never.
Service was excellent, ambiance was historic, food was phenomenal!!
We ate in the bar and had delicious food. Great place!
We have eaten at the restaurant in Charlotte, so we’re familiar with the menu. AKWAYS a fantastic meal!!!! My husband had just retired the day before and we were celebrating that. Service was outstanding also!
Food was very good and service was outstanding..
Great food in a great atmosphere!
Our favorite restaurant by far! Love it there! Friendly and fun experience everytime along with amazing food!
Just perfect! Bread, salad and all our meals were amazing. Wait staff was polite and accommodating and food arrived in a well paced manner.
As always, this is a great place for a special occasion. We particularly love any of their dishes with garlic, butter, and pasta! Can't wait for the next meal here!
With all the Italian restaurants we’ve gone, Mr. Dominic’s has the BEST, hands down of the Artichoke French. The special lobster risotto was excellent. The restaurant is very accommodating with special requests and they did what was asked. A+ restaurant!
I made a special reservation request to bring my 77 year old mother to Mr. Dominic's for her birthday on a Friday evening. I specifically asked to be seated in a quiet area as too much noise and confusion is overwhelming for her. The five of us were seated in a rounded booth table in the older mansion area, and it was wonderful!! We had a lovely dinner and quiet celebration away from the noise of the busier newer area of the restaurant.
The food was good. The manager Jay is incredible!! He is so professional and so helpful. He is so nice, he checked on our table, to see how our meals were. It was a busy Saturday night, he was serving food and busy helping out in the dining room. It was my first time having dinner in your restaurant. I will definitely return, you are very lucky to have Jay! Thank you
Food is excellent... overall good value for the money!
The service was super slow. But the server was very nice and food was great.
We like this place a lot. The food is very good and the staff is excellent. We will be coming again to try other items on the menu.
Haley was a great server!
Food was better than expected!
Was warned upon arrival the kitchen was very busy. Told upon seating to order quickly as it was taking an hour for meals to come out. Our meal arrived 2 hours after our order. Mine was cold and not edible and returned to heat up. All of us received the incorrect pasta order but were too hungry to return it. . Had to ask for napkins, silverware several times. Something was happening in the kitchen as appeared they were missing staff. I would have rather they did not take our reservation three days prior if they could not handle the crowd. Waiter kept apologizing but we still paid full price for everything with no compensation. Very disappointing. Will say have had good meals there in the past.
Been here many times and yesterday was a very poor exception. Took 2 hours plus for main course and 1 + for apps. The kitchen was backed up and the team nowhere to be found. Just a terrible experience all up. It's unfortunate because our server Lori was awesome and we have had many good meals in the past. Will think twice.
I'll preface this by saying I've been to Mr. Dominic's a few times before and had a good experience, so I'm assuming this was a bad night for them. Our reservation was for 6:45pm. We arrived on time and were told they just needed to clean off a table, so we waited at the bar. We said any seating would be fine (high top or otherwise). 30 minutes later after a drink at the bar we had not been seated yet so I checked in at the front and was again told they just needed to prepare a table. He asked again if a high top was acceptable, which we had already said worked. 25 minutes passed with no communication. We could see it was very busy and other groups were annoyed with the wait. At 7:40 we were ready to simply leave, but again went to the front to check and was told they would seat us at an open hightop, and we were finally seated. Our server was helpful and attentive, and the salad and bread came within 10 minutes (although we had to request silverware and napkins). Our food did not arrive until 9:40 (!), after our server had apologized more than once and provided us with a free drink. She admitted they just had too many reservations that night, which was clear. We watched several parties leave disappointed or frustrated, one guy loudly saying they waited far too long and would just go to McDonald's or Denny's. So while the food was good and our server did her best, the experience was overshadowed by the extremely long wait and lack of communication up front. If we were aware they were so overwhelmed, we simply would have gone elsewhere, which we probably should have after the initial wait to be seated. Whatever the issue was, it was very disappointing.
We love Mr Dominic’s
Donna was our server and was excellent. Food was mostly comfort food, standard fare Rochester Italian. Having said that it was prepared perfectly and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Drinks were made very well. No surprises here, frequent patron.
