Nags Head Inn & Restaurant
We always enjoy a visit here and never come away disappointed.
Food was excellent, the only downside was the tables were small and very close together. There was hardly room for the bottle of wine and when you are having an intimate valentines dinner you do not wish to feel the table next to are joining in to! However the best steak we have had for a long time.
We always love this place. Food is great, service is friendly and quick and ambience is amazing (15th century pub!). So we can definitely recommend this place!
My wife and I stayed two nights at the Inn and enjoyed all our meals including a family celebration dinner with seven people at the table. Each person selected from the standard monthly menu and not one negative comment from anyone.
We were celebrating a birthday and the beautifully tender roast beef Sunday lunch fitted the bill beautifully. The restaurant was busy with two largish parties which included excited children but we were very thoughtfully taken to a quiet table where we were not in the least disturbed.
The main course was so delicious and generous that we were unable to have a dessert but those being carried past our table looked very tempting.
Maybe next time. We will be back.
This is our favourite restaurant in the area. It never fails to impress.
All dishes we had were delicious. The waiting staff had good knowledge of the menu and were courteous and efficient. It was more expensive that we'd normally pay but I guess you get what you pay for. My only criticism are the open fires. Clothes smelt like a bonfire by the end of the evening.
Starters and deserts where very good but the roasts were a let down. Meat was over cooked even when asked for rare over hearing this the table next to us said the roast meat here are always over cooked. The potato’s were not good at all, cooked way to long. The service and drinks were excellent and would return because of that. We did have an enjoyable lunch and I would recommend you.
Really lovely staff, delicious food, great atmosphere. Really pretty pub and would highly recommend
As very pleasant place with good food. Good menu and very well cooked.
We go regularly to the Nags Head & to the sister restaurant Bricklayers Arms.
Food is always good, well presented and tasty.
Good selection on menu.
Good value . Friendly staff
Fabulous food, fabulous wine and very efficient and friendly staff! Highly recommend 😊
Not quite sure why it's taken us so long to try the Nag's Head. Excellent lunch. Nice service but a little slow to start but then it was very busy. We will definitely be back.
Classy, cosy little pub with a good friendly atmosphere, and a very high standard menu.
Thanks for a delicious meal. We really enjoyed ourselves. See you again soon!
Always very jolly here on boxing day. Staff we’re charming. Food delicious although risotto with Brie very rich
Would definitely recommend
No special Christmas lunch menu. Roast beef v. expensive. One main course delivered late. No true festive atmosphere. Staff fine.
Interesting and tasty food, warm welcome, excellent service
The waiting staff were really pushed to keep up, possibly due to a shortage that night, but they were charming and accurate.Neither the crab nor the scallops represented good value for money, the crab also being dry and bland. The pork dish was sensational in terms of a full blast of flavours, the jus being particularly good.
The menu, no doubt well established and successful, could benefit from a little tweak- why no prawns any where?
That said, the evening was really enjoyable and the restaurant full with great ambiance, so what`s to change?
We will return.
As usual a very good experience here over a business lunch & meeting. Service was very attentive and good, despite it being a busy after 13:00. We were given a quiet corner for a pre-meal meeting & a suitable table to continue discussions over our meal. A good choice of menu & our meal & accompanying wine were very good.
Over priced these days for average food
Say no more
Brilliant as always, family meal 1 whom was a celiac and had his needs catered for.
Fantastic food, great ambiance and staff that anticipated our every need. All this on a night when they catered for a number of large Christmas parties. Well done guys ! We will be back 👍😀
Excellent, interesting menu
Very good food in a pleasant atmosphere. would definitely go again
We had a Family lunch to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. The food was excellent and the staff were so lovely. Really friendly and efficient service. We will definitely be returning.
very pleasant meal in this restaurant which I visit fairly regularly.
the only downside is lack of elbow room, but in a very old building that is very difficult to solve
The service was pleasant but slow. There seemed to be a lack of staff. I had the guinea fowl. The meat was good but the skin fatty and inedible. It was overpriced at £18.95. My husband and son had fish and chips, but no longer a choice of thick cut chips. Skinny chips OK with burgers. Not so with fish and chips. However on the plus side the goose terrine was very good. Somehow Nags Head not as good as it used to be.
An excellent meal which we all enjoyed and will return many more times. Staff were excellent and always willing to please.
Overall simply a very pleasant place to have meal at any time of the year
You have a great team of people there. Wonderful espresso martinis and excellent food. Lovely welcome and excellent service, thank you.
Every time I revisit The Nag's, the service, food and friendly atmosphere just gets better. It doesn't get any cheaper but this restaurant sets the bar very high for others to meet. Well done everybody there and thanks again for such a brilliant time.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience on Sunday, with conversation considerably easier after a rather noisy family party departed! But that is what contributes to a convivial atmosphere!! Will book again.
Lovely food in comfortable surroundings . Excellent service with friendly staff. Would highly recommend
Have been here a few times in the past, usually for Sunday Lunch. Always enjoyable and relaxing. The Sunday roasts are good, I can't really comment on anything else. The starters also. Service was a little slow but the staff were professional and courteous and, it being Sunday, nobody seemed too bothered with the wait. Serving draught Guinness would get them an extra point in my book!
An interesting and original selection of dishes which were all beautifully presented.
The mid week menu was good value and of sufficient variety to suit all in our group
How very nice not to have music in the background!
The serving staff were friendly, helpful and allowed our group a leisurely meal.
We will return.
A lovely restaurant in a pretty setting. Cosy and warm . Very polite and helpful staff. Excellent menu to cater for all .
Really nice evening with relatives from Hants staying with our family for the weekend we enjoyed the ambience, food and service our waitress was charming and very good at her job
Will definitely return soon
Good menu choices and tasty well presented food. Would recommend.
We found the service and attention first class and the food was excellent.
