I booked online, when we turned up no one was greeting arrivals. We were then told our table was outside. I have never booked a table in a pub garden. It rained and the prices on their menu had gone up a couple of quid.

The starters were on the cold side, we like our food hot, but both were very tasty. The main courses were warmer, but not as hot as we would like.

The food was very good, but the service was disorganised. We had to wait for drinks, wait for sides while the mains were getting cold, ask three times for the bill. The staff were all really polite, but there didn’t appear to be any system and they spent most of the evening apologising for things being late, maybe there is a need for more staff?
Appreciate situation isn’t easy with loads of people in garden suddenly asking to go inside as evening turned cold.

Beautiful spot, but not value for money. Starters were forgotten, mains and sides mixed up and arrived at different times, service inattentive and ludicrously over priced.

First meal out since lockdown. They did their best. Social distancing didn’t seem to be in evidence. Servers handed cutlery to you (not enough on the table). Mains arrived before drinks. Haddock has to be sent back as not very nice. Puddings were great. Nice to be outside on a summer’s day.

I really like The Nags Head but the service was very slow and we had to ask several times for water we had asked for and chase our food order.

This is a beautiful Pub with an outstanding garden and amazing pleasant staff but their prices are beyond ridiculous both drinks and food. C’mon guys , I know it deters riff raff and beer swilling potty mouthed hardened drinkers from setting up camp all night long and in turn keeps the pub and restaurant a ‘tidy’ place to visit but the quality of food does not match or warrant the prices of local fine dining establishments to be found within a short geographical radius .

I took an elderly friend for her first meal out for 4 months. Lovely day, nice setting in garden. Packed! Using overflow car park. Nevertheless tables very well distanced. Service prompt and friendly. Main courses, duck and bass both excellent. Soup good, my crab and salmon rather small. Impressive in the circumstances.

Sunday roast x2 beef and trimmings beautiful. Drinks good. We swapped tables 3 times which must have been annoying but they were totally fine about it.
3* ambience purely because of lack of customers on that day. Nice decor tho and very clean.

We’ll come back very soon and fingers crossed it’ll be a touch busier.

This was my first meal out in four months, I have been here before, and the food is always of a very high standard. Given they’ve only been open a short while, everything was very nice, but still done fine tuning required. We ate inside and it was quiet with most people outside in the lovely garden. Staff were friendly and helpful and service very good. Would definitely recommend.

Was recommended this place by a customer, and was very disappointed with my meal, £28 for a steak and some skinny fries with some sauce and left hungry, had to stop at kebab shop on the way home. Great for a drink felt a bit cheated with the food.

First visit since lockdown quite good under circumstances, service a little chaotic, given wrong menus first but no problem
Not very comfortable outside as despite booking very early and requesting outside table they gave us something akin to a cheap picnic bench and table, when they beautiful comfortable tables on the new patio area, but not for us, clearly you have to be special to get one one those.
Food was quite good but the soup tasted like something out of a supermarket container not homemade
The dauphinois potatoes were appalling swimming in the sauce and not cooked properly
The creamed spinach was excellent
The duck was okay as was the chicken but the best fish was the trout which shouldn’t even have been on the menu
All in all nice to eat out again and not a bad effort but not really justifying the prices
We have eaten out in three other restaurants since end of lockdown and they were all better than the Nagshead

Dined at The Nag's Head 17th July 2020. Surprised how busy it was for a lunch but most diners were in the garden and we opted to dine inside where it was very quiet.

Very impressed with the menu, good range of items, should be something for all tastes.

The two of us had different starters, we chose the same main and both had different deserts. All five dishes were excellent, and we would both choose to have them again.

Good selection of wines.

Service was a little slow, but it looked like half of Buckinghamshire had descended on them for an impromptu lunch, so in the circumstances, they coped well.

We had a wonderful time. Stayed for two nights - the room was very comfortable and the overall service was excellent. Dinner was delicious and the steps they have taken in the restaurant to ensure social distancing work perfectly without destroying the ambience. Particularly enjoyed having breakfast in the garden this morning.
