Nags Head Inn & Restaurant
Lovely meal . Great service . Good for special occasions
Great food, friendly and attentive waiting staff; a large, dog and child friendly garden. Food was quickly delivered after our order.
Great food and service as always. Busy in Garden, but quite inside due to the weather.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, my sister and I treated our Dad who has visited on a number of occasions and always enjoys his visit. It was busy as it was a sunny day so we did have to wait a little longer for our food but it wasn’t too much of a problem.
Lovely, varied menu to suit all. The duck was recommended by a diner at the next table and proved to be wonderful.
Very good lobster. Salad and chips. Prosecco a nice touch. Service great.
Overpriced, food not good at all. Dry and tasteless. Wouldn't go back
Outstanding service and divine food. Doesn’t matter if you are having a small or large gathering, you will always feel spoiled.
We came on father’s day to celebrate my husbands first.
On arrival there was an issue with our seating as we’d been put in a very tight area and had a newborn baby in a pushchair which I had advised of on my booking but this was resolved swiftly and we were offered complimentary glasses of champagne. The service and food was outstanding and we will definitely be returning.
Lovely Country pub, really good wine list selection and good food.
1st Time I had been with family. Fantastic selection of beers and Gins. Food quality and choice was excellent. Service very good. I wish you were nearer!!! Hope to have opportunity/excuse to join you again.
Very pleasant lunch. Choice of set menu or a la carte. Chose a starter and had a delicious pudding and coffee.
Rather chilly in the restaurant but was very nice meal
Lovely pub/restaurant with good ambience and clearly a cut above the average. We opted to sit in the lovely garden - more about that in a moment. The welcome was fine. When we said we wanted to sit outside the manager said sure but we would need to come to the bar to order. Seemed odd as I believe the restaurant inside was table service. Anyhow no biggie and we did that. Starters came quickly - a trio of smoked fish with a wonderful bread basket. Fish was good although a smallish serving. Then nothing happened for well over a half hour. I went back in to order a another drink and asked when our finished starter plates would be taken away. That clearly reminded them that they’d forgotten about us. Anyhow someone came to clear the plates and our main course arrived around 20 minutes later. So near on an hour from completion of starter till receiving main. Anyhow the mains, half a chicken and roast sirloin, were both lovely and portions generous. And the service other than the delay was courteous. We asked for a variation on my sauces potato accompaniment and this was perfectly dealt with. A little pricey but probably not unreasonable.
So most likely just an oversight as we were sitting outside and I would certainly recommend.
Excellent food, great atmosphere & fantastic service!
Stayed overnight and also booked dinner. Cannot fault this place. Room tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, quality mattress, slept well. Food and drink excellent quality, service friendly and fast. Overall delighted with the experience and happy to recommend to others.
Lovely birthday lunch out for a friend. The scallops were amazing.
We have been visiting for the last few years and eating Sunday lunch at the Nags ahead. We are a family of young and old and every time we have been blown away. This time we arranged to meet family there which was over a 2 hour drive-and I am sad to say I felt like the food was not as good as usual and for the money that was very disappointing! Table service wasn’t great either (which was unusual) three waiting staff came to take drinks orders and we started to get frustrated with the repetition! Anyway it’s a lovely place and I hope this is a one off blip.
This was my second visit, the first was a Saturday evening and I would have given 4 - 5 stars overall but this time, Sunday lunch, was very different. The service was slow and the maitre d’ was brusque and disinterested. I had chosen to take my sister for lunch after bestowing great praise on the Nags Head and felt pretty embarrassed.
Excellent food and good wine list.
Enjoyed several meals at the Nags Head consistently deliver quality
As gastro pubs go in Bucks, the Nag's Head is at the top of the list. A good menu with well-presented plates. Friendly and excellent service. Highly recommended.
An extremely pleasant experience: food ranged from pretty good to very good, service was friendly and relaxed but efficient. The salmon and sea trout tartare was particularly good, as was the blueberry tart. The roasts were as you would expect but at the upper end.
One small criticism was that, had we wanted to eat lunch outside in the sun, the number of tables with proper seats is limited and they were occupied by two parties of six or eight and we would have to have shared and uncomfortable picnic table.
However, I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
The meal was very good and the service was also very efficient, knowledgable and friendly. We will certainly go back again.
Stunning food as always. Wish we had shared a main though as portion sizes and generous and rich!
Lovely team and great suggestion on the wine from the manager. Thank you for a brilliant evening.
Courteous and efficient service. Food excellent, and good value.
Went for Sunday Lunch with a friend and had a lovely meal. I certainly recommend the Nag's Head
Food was absolutely fabulous (not cheap, but worth every penny). Staff were lovely, especially as there was a bit of disorganisation with getting earlier diners to vacate tables, with a wait of over 30 mins for our table - but they were very apologetic and service during the meal was excellent. Saving up to go back soon!
Lovely food but limited vegetarian/vegan choice.
Service was good but slow.
Overall a nice relaxing experience with great food.
The Food was great we shared a Chateaubriand steak which was fabulous generous portions chips and salad. The wine we had was very good too. Very good value good service. Just lacked atmosphere but it was early in the evening
Very good Sunday roast in characterful, pleasant surroundings. Waiting staff very pleasant, providing excellent service.
Really nice food. Good service, but struggled a bit when it got very busy.
An excellent Sunday lunch with extremely tasty roasts and delicious puddings. As return visitors, we appreciate the half-portions for children, and the relaxed service.
Lovely food, served hot and great staff. Definitely will be going back
Peter, Helen and the whole team as ever provided a premier class experience. Thank you all so much! Will see you soon.
Excellent choice, really great idea of evening set menu with 2 choices and the food was outstanding... really a nice experience will definitely go back
fantastic food and staff were helpful and attentive. Atmosphere is great and will certainly go back.
Difficult to fault. Had the Sunday lunch roast beef; food and service was great and a really nice ambience. Place full of families including associated kids and dogs - loved it and will be back.
Good food but a little pricey. 2 courses one bottle of wine and coffee for 4 £58 per head. Tables feel a little cosy and could do with a little more space.
Very nice food although the wine with the Chateaubriand offer was disappointing
Fantastic food and overall good service. A little bit slow at times but I prefer that to being rushed
