Brought to you by the Michaels family, owners of the award-winning Bricklayers Arms in Flaunden, Hertfordshire, the newly refurbished Nags Head serves an “Anglo - French” fusion menu. We had a very nice late Sunday lunch after a long country walk. Main courses were lovely and very filling. I wasn’t that keen on the pork and bread appetiser. It was my second visit to the pub and I would certainly go again.

We've been coming here for years and this was the best food we've ever had at the restaurant. Really spot on with a fantastic atmosphere. It would have been good to have had the fire lit in the Teepee as it did get cold and the service in general was below standard. We had to ask for drinks, things were forgotten / delayed. I would highly recommend but felt they were missing someone in charge of the front of house who would have made the meal better value for the upper end price.

Pleasantly surprised by everything (especially, food quality and wine options). Nags Head looks like "just" a (gastro) pub — albeit, a very nice looking one — but it's a great deal better than that. Prices are slightly on the high side and the lack of a set menu for lunch (at least), at an attractive price, means we will not go there as regularly as we otherwise would, but my guest and I were impressed. A very enjoyable lunch.

Food was mediocre - at approximately £18-19 per main meal it was uninspiring. We had the battered fish, chips & peas and one diner had the pepper with quinoa & sauce. I actually left still feeling hungry - coffee at £3.60 per cup was also a disappointment. Sorry but I don't think we will be dining there again anytime soon.

The Nag’s Head continues to serve excellent food. However we visited the restaurant yesterday and having placed our order, we were then told that 2 of the main course options were now sold out. This is really not acceptable when there are perhaps 8 choices of which 2 were not available!

Service was initially slow. Spent 10 minutes at the bar waiting to be seated. Had roast beef and fish & chips. Beef was ok but potatoes and veg were over cooked & tasteless. Fish was very oily & chips overdone..very hard texture. Both dishes came after a couple of minutes and before our drinks. Lemonade & lime was flat and no lime. When we asked at the bar were told we were wrong and they just added lime to it (still flat) ..Beer was tasteless and flat and they took that off the bill. Overall a total rip off. £25 for a poor quality roast! Flat drinks and poor service. Would not recommend!

Food was very good and initial service was very good but after taking our order at least 3 other tables arrived and were served before us and one even managed to get 2 courses before we chased where our main was. The first waitress did not come back with a response so we had to chase another member of staff until we finally got our main course after 75 minutes. Some people had great service but at least 1 other table faced the same problem as us. Don’t know why but disappointed.

Unfortunately there was a mix up with our mains which meant we sat at the table for over an hour before we got them. We had to remind the staff twice and on the second occasion a manager came to our table and apologised and reduced the bill as compensation. I think the first time of mentioning it, the young waitress just forgot to look into the problem. Once a more experienced member of staff was approached, it was dealt with. This would not stop us going again as the food is very good.

We sat outside in the garden - staff all very friendly and helpful - main courses were delicious; cannot fault but desserts were disappointingly not to same high standard - won’t stop us making a return visit we’ll just try the starter menu next time and skip dessert - and did spy some very interesting gin cocktails going to other tables - keen to give one of those a try next time too!

Wonderful Birthday lunch. I am Covid vulnerable and the staff were very understanding and accommodating and moved us in to the pub to a table by an openable window because the tipi was still fully closed in as it was cold. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. On first glance the menu looks expensive but the food is so worth it. My Dad’s first visit and he was very impressed too! Thank you Nag’s Head for a lovely afternoon.

Wonderful atmosphere and very good service. However, I didn’t choose wisely with my starter: beef strips. A large plate of what I can only describe as deep-fried breadcrumb batter arrived. I have to assume there was some beef but I’m not sure I found it. The next course was better. I chose duck confit. It was tender and tasty and accompanied by a flavoursome jus. I’m sure we’ll return but next time I’ll choose a dessert rather than a starter.

Excellent meal. Sunday's sirloin steak roast was superbly tender, if a little too big for an elderly stomach. Service was average. Noise level wasn't helped by well-behaved but enthusiastic family of small girls.

Really good ham hock terrine and rhubarb starter and duck with haricot beans mains. My partner and I really enjoyed. We were happy enough with the total cost but think its a tiny tad over-priced. Otherwise all good and dog friendly, so will definitely come again!!

2 people had mussels to start with, it was swimming in a bowl of white wine, the wine hadn’t been boiled out of the original sauce. The mussels weren’t taken off the menu. 3 people had roasts meat was cold. Very expensive for the food we actually received, in no rush to go back. Other pubs in the area as good and much better value

We arrived about 20 minutes early and there was space for us to have pre-dinner drinks before going to the table. Once seated staff were very attentive. A Mother's Day menu was provided and the menu was clearly steered toward having 1 of 4 choices of roasted meats; the other options being fish & chips, stuffed pepper or another fish dish. Starters - mussels for my partner & dusted calamari foe me - were delicious. Roast dinners could possibly have been a tad hotter but still good portions, well presented and tasty. Will undoubtedly go again.
