Navana Ratings and Reviews
Our meal at Navana we noted as ‘the best meal we’ve had in Essex’. We couldn’t fault it. There was a great atmosphere, even at a later sitting of 21:00. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Be expectant that this isn’t a ‘cheap night out’ and your expectations will be managed. I highly recommend and will be returning ASAP!
Very good food and service - on a par with any good London restaurant. Quite small inside with bar and lounge seating next to the dining tables but it has a good atmosphere and a wide menu with quality dishes that tasted great. We shared the crab tempura, Japanese meatballs and duck small plates to start, had the black cod and salt marsh lamb for mains and the Bronze Age and passion fruit panna cotta for pudding. All excellent and would definitely recommend.
Absolutely brilliant food, very creative and many many options, although some of my lamb was slightly overcooked compared to the rest of it, however it didn't spoil the meal. Very good service with informed and smily waitresses.
Can't recommend it enough, will be returning!
I arrived for lunch on a Monday, unsuprprisingly there was only one other table in use.
The greeting was professional and organised, I was given my choice of table.
They had agreed to alter one course as I am not a fan of oysters.
Each course was stunningly presented. The majority were delicious, the two end of the scale were, the octopus, somewhat lacking in interesting flavour and a dessert of exceptional quality and flavouring.
There was good variety amongst the courses, one surprise was the portion size. Some courses were minuscule like the first one whereas the chefs choice seafood dish nd the cod courses were huge.
I left the restaurant reasonably full and satisfied.
The decor is very modern and clean, if I were to complain, it would be that the degree of service and interest in the customer got to the right level by the third of nine courses. It’s got a nice music system, but sadly it played more like jazz, shop browsing music!
It’s an interesting new place, I feel a few tweaks and it would get the fifth star, only 4/5 currently
£95 for a nine course taster menu is Michelin pricing not quite there yet. The presentation is great it’s the flavouring that’s not quite there
I came here with a friend for the first time. The restaurant itself is set out really lovely. The tables are nicely spaced apart, you dont feel like your too close to the next table, considering its quite small.
The food was really good, we had the sushi platter to start which was perfect for two of us. We asked for no mackerel as neither of us like it, which they replaced with more vegetable sushi, which was one of my favourites.
We then had 5 small plates to share as a main, being the duck gyoza (amazing!!) pork ribs, beef croquettes, pork belly and the tempura prawns. All were really tasty, except the tempura prawns. I love prawns but the batter was really thick and gloppy, not what tempura should be at all. We ended up leaving these as they just were not nice at all.
We then finished with the bronze age dessert, which was incredible! Still drooling over it now.
I would definitely recommend going here, and will be back again soon, I just hope they improve the tempura prawns.
