We had a fabulous time at Navana. The service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. We hadn't been before because we had heard about how expensive it was - but we were pleasantly surprised to see that it can be expensive or not as you decide. We will be coming back soon, I hope.
Went for a friends birthday and what a treat it was. Both food and service was amazing and a fabulous selection of cocktails. How delightful to have somewhere so great in Leigh now!!
We had a really lovely evening at Navana, service very prompt and polite. Plenty of options for those who do not like sushi and plenty of options for those that do! Great quality and very good presentation. Lovely furniture and atmosphere. Drinks quite expensive.
Lack of atmosphere, food was good. Didn’t have wine we wanted or a couple of options on menu were not available.
Strange to see staff eating dinner after service in front of us.
This is quite simply the best food and service outside of london. I loved the service and the food was amazing. Try the small plates, especially the mushroom spring rolls with the truffle sauce. I recommend the black cod bites! We really struggled to find black cod apart from nobu and the fact you can enjoy this in leigh on sea is perfect. We dined as a 4 for evening meal and will be returning!
We visited Navana on a friends recommendation and were not disappointed. The menu is extensive and interesting, rather than going down the traditional starter, main, dessert route we chose a selection of sushi, sashimi and small plates to share. The sushi and tuna sashimi were particularly good. I found the cocktail menu a little uninspiring and traditional but the cocktail that I did choose was well made and tasty. When the bill came we were also pleasantly surprised, while this restaurant is by no stretch of the imagination cheap, we found it good value for the quality of food compared to similar restaurants that we have eaten at in London.
Food and atmosphere was great! Shame majority of the chef's specials were off the menu, but looking forward to coming back and trying!
The food was special. Some variations and combinations we had never had before but which worked extremely well.Service was perfect even though restaurant was very busy, well done.
It was my second visit to this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint! Great cocktails, great food and a brilliant atmosphere.
Amazing food lovely restaurant definitely recommend
This Saturday evening was particularly busy meaning service was slow which isn't helpful when there's a 2hr slot but you've been both seated and served late. Food and cocktails are amazing but small note: the tuna isn't 'toro' as it says on the menu, it's akami which is a leaner cut (this kind of lapse in detail will annoy Japanese diners).
We arrived and was greeted at the door, staff were friendly, took our coats and took us to our table. we ordered drinks, they came quickly and were very good- all the cocktails seem to be present extremely well and taste divine. We ordered some sushi to start, it was amazing although a little on the expensive side for four pieces. We ordered a few further small (hot) plates, these took nearly an hour to come, we had to ask were our food was. The waitress was apologetic but it was really poor service and no discount was applied to our bill. Ordered dessert of which I had asked for candles in as it was my husbands birthday, this didn't happen. Bill took a while in fact the table behind us had to take there bill and card to the staff as they had been waiting well over 20min. All in all the food and atmosphere was great but the service has put me off coming again, for prices like this service should be outstanding and it just wasn't, such a shame as it was for our birthdays.
Friendly and attentive staff, excellent food and well made drinks. Sunday afternoon made it a little quiet in there but an excellent restaurant.
Food was gorgeous and the presentation just made it 10 times better!!
We was recommended certain foods to have and each was a good recommendation
Our waitress too at the beginning was very nice and very helpful
Had an early table on Saturday evening, started with a selection of sushi, which was nice, and pretty reasonable, the only negative was the sashimi was v poorly sliced. We then followed with a few small plates, the chicken karaage was tasty, but very salty, the duck gyozas were ok, but a little bland , lastly the Navana hot platter, which consisted of calamari, meatballs, and chicken, ironically was barely warm. The calamari was probably the worst I've ever eaten, it was completely under cooked and tasted of nothing more than raw flour. We decided to call it a day there and skip deserts. The venue is nicely decorated but surprisingly small.
All in all, the recent drop in prices takes the sting out of a pretty average meal, and in my opinion it most definitely hasn't taken "Leigh’s dining experience above and beyond."
Lovely meal. My only complaint was that they brought every meal (small plates to share) out at once. Had they been spaced a little we would have had more room on our table and the dishes wouldn't have been cold by time we got to them.
Will definitely go back again
Extremely good cocktails food and service, and a good atmosphere.
Amazing food, wine and service. Truly brilliant place.
Great elegant ambiance and superb service. The only let down was the chocolate dessert huge and so dry it felt frozen, we left most of it and told the waiter and kitchen offered to put more ice cream on top (quite an odd solution) which we declined. After such a nice meal and the best pisco it was not the best to end the night
First time at a Japanese restaurant. Staff helpful with menu. Small plate option excellent so delicious. Thoroughly recommend.
Disappointing that waygu burger not on menu, but not informed until after we had ordered drinks etc - especially as limited lunch menu.
Service not the best as plates were being cleared prior to finishing our meal and got the feeling they wanted us to leave as tidying restaurant around us??
That said some elements of the meal very nice and excellently presented.
Once they sort out issues with the service restaurant could have potential.
The food was fantastic. The cocktails were amazing. The staff were attentive. The decor is very stylish. Overall 10/10 will definitely eat at Navana again.
Amazing best local this side of London. All of the staff really care about the food as well. Lovely and tasteful decor, food tastes beautiful.
Fantastic restaurant just what Leigh needs!! Amazing food and cocktails. Attentive staff. Lovely Décor. just perfect!
Our meal at Navana we noted as ‘the best meal we’ve had in Essex’. We couldn’t fault it. There was a great atmosphere, even at a later sitting of 21:00. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Be expectant that this isn’t a ‘cheap night out’ and your expectations will be managed. I highly recommend and will be returning ASAP!
Very good food and service - on a par with any good London restaurant. Quite small inside with bar and lounge seating next to the dining tables but it has a good atmosphere and a wide menu with quality dishes that tasted great. We shared the crab tempura, Japanese meatballs and duck small plates to start, had the black cod and salt marsh lamb for mains and the Bronze Age and passion fruit panna cotta for pudding. All excellent and would definitely recommend.
Absolutely brilliant food, very creative and many many options, although some of my lamb was slightly overcooked compared to the rest of it, however it didn't spoil the meal. Very good service with informed and smily waitresses.
Can't recommend it enough, will be returning!
I arrived for lunch on a Monday, unsuprprisingly there was only one other table in use.
The greeting was professional and organised, I was given my choice of table.
They had agreed to alter one course as I am not a fan of oysters.
Each course was stunningly presented. The majority were delicious, the two end of the scale were, the octopus, somewhat lacking in interesting flavour and a dessert of exceptional quality and flavouring.
There was good variety amongst the courses, one surprise was the portion size. Some courses were minuscule like the first one whereas the chefs choice seafood dish nd the cod courses were huge.
I left the restaurant reasonably full and satisfied.
The decor is very modern and clean, if I were to complain, it would be that the degree of service and interest in the customer got to the right level by the third of nine courses. It’s got a nice music system, but sadly it played more like jazz, shop browsing music!
It’s an interesting new place, I feel a few tweaks and it would get the fifth star, only 4/5 currently
£95 for a nine course taster menu is Michelin pricing not quite there yet. The presentation is great it’s the flavouring that’s not quite there
I came here with a friend for the first time. The restaurant itself is set out really lovely. The tables are nicely spaced apart, you dont feel like your too close to the next table, considering its quite small.
The food was really good, we had the sushi platter to start which was perfect for two of us. We asked for no mackerel as neither of us like it, which they replaced with more vegetable sushi, which was one of my favourites.
We then had 5 small plates to share as a main, being the duck gyoza (amazing!!) pork ribs, beef croquettes, pork belly and the tempura prawns. All were really tasty, except the tempura prawns. I love prawns but the batter was really thick and gloppy, not what tempura should be at all. We ended up leaving these as they just were not nice at all.
We then finished with the bronze age dessert, which was incredible! Still drooling over it now.
I would definitely recommend going here, and will be back again soon, I just hope they improve the tempura prawns.
