The oyster bar located the centre of Neptune’s dining room serves a variety of oysters and shellfish selected from independent growers around the UK.
Alongside this, the menu also features thoughtfully sourced and high-quality British produce cooked on the wood-fire grill including dry-aged beef from Yorkshire and fish direct from boats in Cornwall.
While the casual bar serves fresh aperitif style cocktails, the ever-evolving wine list focuses on a mix of low intervention and classic wines from quality local and international producers.
To compliment the stunning menu, Russell Sage Studio and Margaret Crow revived the existing Grade II-listed dining room by adding a graphic wooden floor, peach ceiling and a centrally located pewter-top bar, creating a space that is as elegant as it is inviting from morning through to late evening.

Absolutely loved out first experience. My wife particularly enjoyed the chocolate dessert on the express menu. No request was too much. We will definitely return soon hopefully.
Unfortunately the chef who launched the restaurant is no longer there and they need someone in the kitchen to add some excitement to the menu. There were only 8 diners on a Saturday night so no atmosphere either, at one point we were the only people dining. Staff were efficient but then starting setting up the room for breakfast at 8pm which was bizarre. The hotel is a stunner and love the bar but thumbs down for the restaurant at the moment.
Portion sizes were miniscule. Starter was about 4 spoons and maim was less than 50grams of turbot. Ridiculous.
Excellent food, great service. We had a great experience and next time in London, I will definitely come back.

Extremely slow service (each course taking almost 1 hour). Servers are not attentive so it’s very difficult to draw their attention. The service standard, considering that the restaurant is in a 5-star hotel, is very low. On the positive side, the manager was very attentive and tried his best to get things right after problems were caused by other staff’s miscommunication, and the food itself was very good. But again, the service provided by other staff other than the manager was certainly not 5-star.

Our bill didn’t match the half off oyster happy hour being offered. We just paid anyway after the first adjustment because we just wanted to leave at that point. Food was great though.

The "oyster " bar wa nothing of the sort. It was some prosciutto and a nice salad but not as expected. The minute steak was pleasant. The chicken waffle had a nice waffle and sauce but chicken was tasteless and had gristle in first bite. Creme brulee was very nice. If you are going to advertise as including a glass of champagne then be generous and not measly about it. It was half a glass. If thats what it is then say so. Service was friendly and attentive but felt they were a bit constrained by what they had been told they could offer. I expected more. It was average.
We had a lovely Sunday brunch - there were 4 of us and we were there to celebrate birthdays of two of us.
I called in advance to see if they could do anything for the birthday celebrations and they brought out specially decorated dessert plates for the birthday girls. They did not charge us any extra - for Sunday brunches, starters and desserts are from buffet and main is the only one you choose, but still they made an extra effort to create pretty Birthday dessert plates for us. And they let us stay for a long time (as it is Birthday celebrations and they had table availability) - though they would only allow 2 hours per table normally.
Food was decent - I had better food somewhere else, if we are purely talking about food - however, the staff made it really special. Thank you.

Liked the restaurant a lot. Food was really good. Chicken Waffle was super delicious. As the room was quite empty it lacked a little buzzing atmosphere. But I will bring some friends for sure! Will definitely be back!

Amazing restaurant. I often have dinner at this restaurant and I can say that it is the best restaurant I have ever been to. Service is outstanding, attentive and always focused on details. Food is always perfect and super tasty, the presentation of the dishes is incredible. Every time I go it is a lovely experience. Well done to the Polish waiter and the French sommelier(as every time) for this last time I visited! Thanks guys for the amazing experience.
Best part was the excellent wine sommelier... food was a bit hot and miss... service not as good as I had expected for the price we paid. Hard to find too with no sign really visible from Russell Square. They were polite and courteous but need to organise delivery and speed of food to table.. took an age to just bring bread and olives.
We first ate here probably two years ago when they first opened and had a mediocre meal. The highlight was cocktails in the neighbouring cocktail bar also within the hotel.
We returned this evening as a friend wanted to dine there, from the moment we sat down you could tell there were issues, we ordered drinks and were asked three times by three different people what we ordered. When the drinks arrived it was clear neither of the Gin choices we made were available and with no discussion a house gin was substituted, we complained twice and finally a barman arrived to explain what was available and we were able to actually get the the drink we ordered.
The English antipasti Arrived promptly with a warm Bread loaf that was a little on the sweet side verging on a brioche
We then waited and waited for over an hour for a dull blue cheese salad and a very small crab starter. At this point the wait staff apologised and said our main courses would

Another 15 minutes and another apology, another 15 minutes and we were told by the maitre’d that our mains were being plated.....nothing arrived for 30 minutes, the maitre’d said we should chat about the service after our meal. We waited over 2 hours and never received our main or a proper explanation.
It was made so much worse by 3 separate staff in an hour promising the food was on its way....it clearly was not.
All restaurants have problems, a little honestly about the wait and the issue would have gone a long way.
Eventually we had to leave to meet friends so walked out without ever seeing a main course in 2 hours. We offered our contact and address details but politely declined to pay any part of the bill. The waitress was very apologetic and advised it was fine and they did not expect us to pay.
The room is a bad 1980’s pastiche of cane furniture and pastel colours. The food if it ever arrives is no better. The staff seem about ready to give up on this place as well.
The venue is lovely, and the staff are extremely courteous. The food was good rather than great, but they had problems with the kitchen that evening resulting in long delays. The staff did all that they could to apologise and to placate the diners, it must have been a difficult evening for them. Delays aside, we would go back for a pleasant meal, but maybe not a special occasion.
Unfortunately, my eggs royale was stone cold including a cold muffin underneath. We also had to ask for EVERYTHING twice... coffee/drinks etc. Would definitely not return
It was absolutely awful; our waiter was unimaginably rude. We will never go back and have told our concierge to send customers to anywhere else.

We had booked the table and arrived and were given the full menu, I had seen that you could order an express menu as we arrived early of two or three courses. This was not offered until we asked , then it was not a problem . Food was very nice, wine waiter was excellent ,we enjoyed the meal and the ambience is lovely in the room . We recommend it.
Wonderful location and decor. Menu could have more choices, but what is currently offered is excellent.
The food is fine but not in any way outstanding and, like most hotel restaurants, a little bit expensive for what it is. My mistake was probably to order the squid ink pasta with squid and clams - very bland and not a smart thing to have in what isn’t an Italian restaurant. The service, particularly from the sommelier, is good but the food delivery is too fast paced for somewhere like this, so that it feels quite rushed for an evening meal rather than an express lunch. Not a one off experience, we felt similarly rushed when we ate dinner here a few months ago but we were giving them a second chance.
I wanted to love Neptune. But it really didn’t live up to our expectations. Service was patchy at best- despite the best efforts of a lovely and clearly talented Restaurant Manager. Everything was very slow and it was relatively quiet. Sirloin was sinewy and food wasn’t very hot. The room is beautiful and there are obviously some talented people involved but for £160 for two courses plus drinks, I’d expect bang-on steaks and a bit of finesse. Perhaps we were unlucky, as I’ve heard people who’ve had a great time, but I wouldn’t risk it again unless someone else was paying!
We had a lovely three course dinner on a Saturday night in May 2019, including oysters, squid pasta, brill, and a dessert of chocolate, popcorn, caramel and something that tasted of tonka bean. The brill was especially nice, perfectly cooked and very tasty. One of the guests in our party was very convinced she didn't like oysters based on previous experiences, but she ended up pleasantly surprised that she did in fact like the ones at Neptune. Our waiter was attentive, kind, humorous and well-informed, so was the sommelier. All in all a very nice evening.
Great service as usual, friendly staff and amazing food. Rainbow trout was too die for! Will be back soon!
Neptune was great, the staff are really helpful and the food is very nice. The overall atmosphere and design of the restaurant is very different to the hotel, but still looks great. Would recommend :)

Overpriced and underwhelming. The food was average at best, while the staff made a strong effort, there was much left to be desired after the meal. Extremely overpriced for low-quality dining. Would not go back.
First time having Oysters and the waitress was very knowledgeable. The lamb was really good too!
Weren't expecting to be limited to only the brunch menu on Mother's Day but the host made it up to us with free champers for Mum and a glass for me for my birthday. The menu was a bit limited for non-meat eaters but a tasty enough crab omelette made up for it. Good puddings and a special birthday platter topped off a pleasant enough experience. The very knowledgeable sommelier pointed us in the director of a very reasonable Portuguese white which rounded things off nicely.
Thank you Neptune Team for helping us celebrate - now if you could just get the design team to up-scale the "knicker lampshades" to something more stylish that would be great.
Lovely environment for a grand old brunch. Feels a bit special with some nice twists to the classic menu.
Overall, a bit of a disappointing experience. The bar is gorgeous and the bar staff were lovely, but dinner was really not up to scratch given the cost of the meal. Our waiter was offhand to the point of being rude (though the sommelier was very nice!) and the food was only average - until the dessert (rum baba) which was an almost inedible boiled mass with no rum in evidence. It's not what I would expect for somewhere of this calibre and a disappointment for £100 a head birthday dinner.
Great food, with generous portions. The only small complaint was their toast, which needed to be in for longer, and the service was on the slow side. Would definitely recommend however, and make sure to order an extra side of hash browns.

Het eten was echt verschrikkelijk.
En absoluut te duur voor wat je krijgt.
Na het voorgerecht burrata met tomaat en chili (hetgeen mijn partner en ik volledig terug gegeven hebben) wouden we zeggen dat de rest van de menu niet meer moest.
Toch hebben we het een kans gegeven maar ook het hoofdgerecht trok op niets.
Het dessert hebben we volledig laten staan.
Absoluut een no go!!!
Almost empty on Sunday brunch time. Crab omelette smelled fishy, bite into a piece of shell and hurt my gum. Pretty interior but the food and services did not lift up to our high hopes. Did not bother to stay for desserts. The only good thing is the cocktail.
The place and the food were great. But the waiters were not friendly.
The service was friendly, interiors lovely, however food incredibly disappointing. Got the seafood platter and it was tasteless, tiny mussels and no meat on the crab. The langusgine was stringy and actually quite unpleaseant. Only saving grace was the delicious bread rolls.
