Brunch: service was friendly but slow and the meal when it finally arrived was tepid, as if it had been sitting on the pass for a long time. The side dishes of chips and hash browns, ordered separately, were piping hot. My egg was over-cooked as well as being nearly cold. Nice toast but no choice offered for the accompanying preserve. I just think they need to raise their game!
An odd experience, this is undoubtedly a beautiful restaurant but service was extremely disappointing: as one of only two couples dining at lunchtime there were more staff than customers, but we didn't feel looked after at all. We weren't given the correct cutlery with our seafood platter and we had to chase down our wine a couple of times.
The actual food was good, the langoustines were as good as any we'd eaten and crudo lovely. We were disappointed to have a limited brunch menu on a Saturday lunchtime and would have liked to eat from the lunch menu instead.
The food is good, wine choice from the sommelier excellent, service pleasant but slow.
Great seafood restaurant
The atmosphere and ambiance was great the setting was just right. From the time we sat down the staff was very welcoming, the flow from reception to the table was really great. The knowledge of staff with recommendations of the menu was not to be fault. Overall I would recommend the place with 5 stars.
Good food and service, however menu limited regarding choice
Phenomenal from beginning to end. No detail was left untouched. Not only is the dining room stunning, but the food and service were impeccable. Unforgettable experience and definitely recommend.
The restaurant is beautifully done out and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We had the Festive Menu which we though was only 3 courses but to our surprise there was also a seafood platter starter as well, which was divine. I tried my first ever oyster and loved it! Would highly recommend, make sure you pop into the stylish bar next door for a cocktail beforehand!
The menu choices were so tempting we opted for main menu instead of set 2 course. The steak tartare and beef checks were perfect for a rainy day, as was the Nepotism cocktail. will be coming back to have oysters and champagne!
Poor service and a menu lacking variety. Charged £37 for a bottle of wine we didn't order sums it up.
Won't be going back.
Had a really great time at Neptune on Wednesday night - brilliant service, fantastic food and perfect wine pairings. Really good ambience in the room - buzzy but not too loud - just right!
Great evening with lovely staff, great environment and food.
Great place for a brunch, good choice, great service
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely and relaxed anniversary meal on a Saturday night at Neptune. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is beautiful and perfect for couples wishing to enjoy a quiet and romantic evening meal. The food was delicious - we ordered starters to share and the seafood platter, the scollops and mackerel were particularly good.
The serving staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and at no point did we feel rushed. Overall we felt very looked after and the small anniversary gesture from the restaurant was a pleasant surprise (salted fudge - yum!).
I would certainly recommend this as the perfect treat for a romantic date with your partner.
Fantastic meal and setting for catching up with friends at ease.
Absolutely dreadful. Terrible meal. No one in charge. No training. Can’t believe a hotel can spend that much on decor and provide such a terrible experience in the restaurant.
Thoroughly impressed, great food and great service- I'll be back very soon!
It was good but I expect more from the restaurant. The food was good, but average. The look of the place is AMAZING but then everything from there after was ... OK. Luckily, you only really pay for the OK because the bill was pretty reasonable for what we got.
I had to eat lunch early in order to catch the 14:30 from King's Cross. This restaraunt is in the old Russell Square Hotel...just around the corner from the tube. They were able to check my suitcase in the foyer quite quickly. The oysters, a fish entree, and baked cheesecake were all fabulous! The peach marble dining room is indeed gorgeous, clean and Titanic! Music was a bit loud consequently, and modern, for me
We went on a Saturday night around 8.30 and it was pretty quiet, had high hopes from some good reviews but the vibes were low. Interior is ok - looks better in the pictures. Food and cocktails very average for the price, it wasn't bad but definitely easier to find better. Probably wouldn't visit again.
Beautiful environment and decor, excellent service and buzzy atmosphere. Food menu was a little limited so I didn’t feel i had as much choice as I expected. For example, more fish options would be good eg cod salmon plus perhaps chicken. Also, only one photo of the fabulous interior which was, according to one waiter, designed by the same person who designed some of the interior of the Titanic! Who knew? You should promote that more
The setting was perfect.
The menu was precise and the food that followed was delicious. service was very attentive and friendly. I would happily pay the full price for this food again.
Neptune is gloriously designed in a stunning hotel. The cocktails were delicious and service was perky. A glamorous spot for a special occasion.
Loved everything about it!
Dinner at these one of new restaurants in the renovated hotel complex was pleasant. The menu is understandably seafood focused. The chowder was nice! The only issue was the service which was slow and not attentive enough. Good location though so could be persuaded to return.
! Amazing value - most dishes and cocktails under £10 but with service standards and dining room of a 3 Star !
Stunning restaurant- stylish decor with great ambiance. We were well looked after by a friendly, attentive & knowledgeable team. My friend loved the selection of oysters and the Iberico pork chop. My steak was very tasty & the corn chowder to start was very nice and beautifully presented. Delicious espresso cocktails to finish- I highly recommend the Ziggy plays guitar- a great twist on the classic Espresso Martini! Looking forward to returning soon!
Always wonderful and beautiful space! The food is always delicious and the lunch menu is such good value. Amazing wine and the interiors are to die for.
Lovely setting & nice ambiance. Elegant but not stuffy. Warm, efficient service from the reception & wait staff. Great place when you want to chat as the noise levels were low. A rare thing in London restaurants these days.
But they didn’t have any Dover sole on the menu. A little disappointing as they are mostly a fish/seafood restaurant. My seafood pasta was tasty but the pasta was slightly past al dente. And they didn’t have Drambuie for after dinner!
Unfortunately the quality of the food disappointed. Two in our party felt a bit queazy after our dinner. Martinis are tiny! The highlights of the evening are the space itself and the chocolate dessert (worth another star just for that).
