The Nettlefold fish & seafood restaurant aims to offer you the best produce, local freshly caught fish and foraged coastal herbs and plants. The menu has been curated to bring the best of the uniquely wild island location. Simplicity, freshness and vibrancy are key to our menus. Sustainability and the environment a key factor too, as all our food is sourced in line with marine stewardship standards.

The Nettlefold name pays homage to Archibald Nettlefold was a wealthy film maker and heir to the engineering firm founder of Guest, Keen and Nettlefold. He commissioned the design of this great white palace.

At the end of the restaurant is the Captains Cabin which originates from the famous ship ‘The Ganges’ built in Bombay in 1821. In 1930 when The Ganges was decommissioned, ‘Uncle Archie’ bought the Captains Cabin and mounted it onto the front of the hotel overlooking the Mermaid Pool. This room is available for private dining.

Dress code is smart casual, no jeans or trainers.

A really lovely experience. the hotel is beautiful and the food was excellent. We will definately return.

Very over priced for very underwhelming food. The worst was the first course two tiny over cooked scallops with a corner of a lettuce leaf and a black smudge on the plate for £14.50! For that price it needed to be extraordinary, but sadly it wasn't even average We are locals and came away very disaapointed as the hotel's new owners had boasted they wanted to make it "The best west of the Ritz" . The restaurant based on our experience isn't even the best west of Kingsbridge,

We booked for Sunday lunch to experience Burgh Island Hotel and were blown away by the entire experience. From the moment we arrived the surroundings were exactly how we had imagined and it was exactly like stepping into a bygone age, which was exactly what we had hoped. The staff looked professional in their outfits, were extremely friendly (they even offered us free of charge, a ride in the hotel 4x4 back across the beach and dropped us directly where our car was parked) - the food was delicious, we began with a cocktail, had a delicious 3 course Sunday lunch and sat in the lounge after for coffee and petit fours. A little walk around the gardens revealed the hotels private beach which was stunning. Whether we are lucky enough to visit again someday (I do hope so) - this was a truly wonderful experience.

What a fabulous Hotel. It was like walking back in time: the decor was amazing. The staff were fabulous and the food and drinks were out of this world. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had a devine unch. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were attentive without being invasive. Would definitely go back again.

The view is beautiful from the hotel but the food is really below any acceptable level, tasteless and not special and also very over-priced

A great place for a special occasion, especially if you arrive when the tide is up and you are taken over on the sea tractor and then picked up on the other side. Very attentive and friendly staff.
