starters and duck excellent
. main a bit lukewarm. overall ok for lunch. service good.
Lovely date with the wife first time visit and will definitely be back. The crispy aromatic duck and salt and pepper king prawns were particularly good!
Went there for a business dinner. The booking was for 19:30. We were placed in an area which was quiet, the food was good and the portions are generous. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. Everyone that you would expect from a good restaurant. Will definitely visit again, and can recommend to friends and family with no doubt in my mind that they will have a great time.
Very good food .especially the aromatic crispy duck. Also had the lobster which was yummy .will definitely visit again
Good selection of dishes, food arrive quickly and tasted good. Staff friendly and efficient. Seating a bit cramped, but this is normal in Chinatown.
Came here for lunch. Was good. Worth noting the menu on opentable is out of date. Both in items and price
I wanted to treat a special friend to a Chinese this cuisine being both our favourites. Found it a bit pricey given the food served. Ordered pork but chicken arrived in honey and it had the skin on!! Yuk. Duck was superb. I had read very good reviews about this place so surprised with very tired decor, carpets etc, room seated in small and not ambient. My local Chinese beats this place hands down for food and price! Still when in town, this was the place to go! Didn't find the service great. We both had questions but none of the serving staff offered their opinion or suggestions on what to order. Waited ages for the bill. The menu as typical for most Chinese restaurants just has too many dishes to choose from. This is first and last for me.
Overall good considering we were a group . The duck and pancakes were nice but the Main courses seemed small.
My favourite Chinese restaurant of all time. Highly recommended 10 out of 10
Good food. Crab could've been better as I've had better there before. Nice for family get-together. Service very good.
Was recommended to eat here by a Chinese friend living in London. Not at all disappointed. It was the day of the Chinese Lantern Festival. The whole of Chinatown was busy. And this place was no exception. All the staff are hard working young Chinese who work with speed and efficiency to turn tables quickly but in a friendly way. We didn't feel at all rushed. The food ( we ordered a set meal for two, so not very adventurous) was delicious and of good quality. Would definitely return. A good meal after the theatre matinee.
The food and service was good. The waiters were attentive and responsive!
Accommodated for a group of 10 although the seating is a little cramped. Good selection of food on the dinner menu. Quick service.
Good night out with friends and able to deal with allergies well.
Appalling service. Filthy tables, menu cards and decor. Overcrowded. Toilets particularly disgusting. Food edible at best but poor value, The whole crispy at £33 bizarrely had 4 legs and one breast. Won't be going back.
Good food, average service as you'd expect at a Chinese restaurant serving decent priced food.
- It's pretty hard to get any of the waiters' attention as they are all so busy, but in terms of Chinese restaurants, that's pretty normal I guess.
- The beef hotpot is pretty abysmal, very bland tasting.
- Everything else we ordered wasn't too bad.
The worst service I have ever had .they say us down in a tiny area .served us starters then we had to ask for the main course about 45 minutes later .would never recommend this restaurant to anyone
When we arrived having booked through Open Table I was told there was no booking after much confusion they finally agreed to give us a table but because we where just over 5minutes early they wouldn't left us wait inside the restaurant. The hostess who was based out on the street told use we could wait in the door way next door. I had brought my parents here as they were visiting from out of town and was utterly humiliated by this experience.
Suffice to say that we did not eat here nor would I be tempted it to give it another go having been treated so poorly!
The food was pretty good but the service was slow and the waiter got my partners drink wrong on both occasions......The prices are probably average for London but I could have got a full meal very similar in Canterbury for less than half the price.
Excellent restaurant and value - would very much recommend the crispy duck set menu!
Food was good. Had wait 30min though we booked a table.
Great food, friendly staff. Crab noodles and steamed seabass with spring opinions come highly recommended.
I also recommend trying the restaurant with a group of friends, as this would enable you to sample more dishes on the menu
Fresh seafood, especially the lobster andthe crab, the staff even showed them alive to me before they cook them, wonderful service compare to any other chinese in china town. The staff were very kind and patient, answered all my questions about the food. You can tell everything is freshly made. Definitely going back for the seafood
Definitely the best Chinese restaurant around London! Highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't tried New Mayflower! Been here for over 10 years now and even though managements changes they have kept there consistency with their food as well as improving their staff service!
My wife and i spent our 2nd year anniversary at New Mayflower prevouisly recommended by the hotel manager at the hotel we stay at for the week. even though when i arrived there was a big queue the front of house manage to save me a perfect confortable seat downstairs. i was deeply satisfied with the full service they provided thoughout the meal, they were all very welcoming and polite. The food was good could maybe have done a little bit better with the vegetable proportion with the sweet and sour chicken however the dish was still very nice and well presented. 100% recommend this place to anyone that havent been before, will definatly revisit next time im in london!
We booked a table for 8.30 we where running 15 minutes late bcos of traffic so we called to let them know. When we arrived they took us outside of the restaurant and they said u have to queue bcos u r late. We had to fight with the waitre to get our table. To get to our table we had to go through different small rooms and stairs to be able to go to the basement where our table was. Don't ask how we managed to get out we needed a map. There is a big selection of food but they r all filled up with too much sauces. The waiter who was serving us was polite and nice. For sure we will never go back to that place.
The waiters are very rude. It's almost like they're yelling at you. Seem impatient while taking/cancelling the orders. Would even bump into the customer multiple times without saying sorry while serving the dishes. Unbelievable.
