I have visited this restaurant several times and have been a repeat customer due to high quality of food and variety of dishes. Unfortunately service has always been a bit hit and miss though. For example, table booking needing to be moved at short notice, slow service, dishes forgotten to be brought out etc. These are all points which could be improved on easily and would give this restaurant a better rating.
Thought the food, although quite tasty was expensive and the portions rather small for the prices charged.
Food was overall very nice except the creme brulee which had curdled and the glaze was around 5mm thick! Service was good and cosy atmosphere - can imagine would feel too small if the restaurant was full.
We had a fantastic evening at the new moon cafe. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, some of the best tapas I've had in Bristol. Definitely recommend!
Incredible food could not fault a single thing waiting staff bent over backwards, would never hesitate to recommend. Best restaurant we'd ever experienced.
Great choice of food to try, small plates we chose 6 dishes between 2 people which was about right with enough room for dessert which was also yummy. Cosy small restaurant perfect for a date.
Lovely food great service fantastic ambience. Defo go again
My wife & I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at New Moon Café. I would have to say it exceeded all our expectations. The food was both generous and delicious. Being relatively new to Tapas the waitress took time to explain the best options for us and we felt it was a cosy & romantic atmosphere. We would fully recommend leaving room for the desserts which were divine!
Had a fabulous dinner here with my partner. The tapas plates were excellent, so flavoursome, and the Maghreb specialities were wonderful. The staff were great. Thankyou for a lovely evening
New Moon Cafe provided the perfect setting to round off the first date with my girlfriend. We shared a chef's selection of tapas, taking our tastebuds on a delicious gustatory safari in a relaxed, cosy, romantic atmosphere.
Disappointed that restaurant have not updated their details on opentable therefore could not find our booking and had no available tables. We were sat at the bar and the food was lovely. Although the staff were friendly they was alot lacking. We ordered a soup/stew and were not given a spoon. We requested one twice and were never given one. Nice restaurant and had a lovely evening but could have been better.
This was my second time eating here. The choice of dishes was very good because there are some unusual dishes which are not the same as standard tapas places. Presentation was lovely, and there were several vegetarian options as well as quail for those who like game. The restaurant has been innovative, in having a different country for a theme week, and this week being the week of the Olympics, the country theme was Brazil. They had a wonderful coconut pudding for dessert as well as crepe suzette. I especially recommend the prawns, the scallops dish, the aubergines, the artichoke dish and paella. The main let-down of the place, was the poor organisation, however this happens so often at so many other places, due to the poor training of staff. The waitress got our order wrong, then when she realised, we waited for over an hour for all of our meal to arrive, while we sat watching everyone else who arrived after us, getting their meal before us. To give her credit, she was apologetic and took off some of the cost of our drinks from the bill. The staff were not apathetic to their duties, but I think they were just overwhelmed, with a full restaurant. Note to the manager/owner: get some professional help initially, to improve organisation and communication with the kitchen, and put on at least one extra waitress for Saturday night and when fully booked. The restaurant is quite small, so booking is essential. Well worth a visit if you can be prepared for a few glitches.
