Elegant and very UWS feeling to the space. The wine book, as it was comprehensive- had an exquisite selection, but what I am here to speak about is the food. The fava hummus and the escargot were fresh and well seasoned. The main courses, the hanger steak was like butter and my salmon was well seasoned and soul-filling. The environment is really and truly why one would go here. It is easy going and unpretentious. I got off a plane and into the restaurant to have a meal with my best friend on this planet. A great way to enter into NYC, a former stomping ground.
Excellent moules frites and ravioli. Nice quiet atmosphere and like a mid sized French bistro. Next door to Hotel lucerne.
Always a pleasure! Great food and reasons noise level. We sat there for 3 hrs and no one bothered us.
Lovely lunch with a friend.
Absolutely delicious food and an extensive wine list. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go again. 10/10
Waitress was very attentive to our birthday guest, pleasant and efficient. Good food, not noisy.
We have often had lunch at Nice-Matin, but had not been for dinner in some time. I requested a quiet table for a birthday celebration, we were in a lovely booth near the back. The service was nice, food was excellent-- and the staff brought a candle in our friend's birthday dessert, and belted out an amazing Happy Birthday! Made our night!
This may be the best bistro on the upper west side. Standard bistro fare with escargot, pate, steak au poivre, steak frites, duck breast, etc. Service is good and helpful. As requested, our meal was rushed along due to a prior commitment. Drinks such as martinis were done well. This restaurant is a crowd pleaser.
Tables too close for easy access.
Staff talked loudly to each other.
Table service excellent.
Food very good indeed.
Overall atmosphere very charming.
Truly a wonderful Thanksgiving meal and experience, the menu had so many amazing choices and the ones my partner and I chose were superb. The portions were very generous, the waitstaff very attentive. I always enjoy NiceMatin and look forward to coming back
The Thanksgiving dinner was fabulous. I ordered the price fix dinner of escargot, duck and creme brulee.
A true winner. The waiter was very helpful in assisting me in finding the right wine to order. All the staff were wonderful and attentive without being overbearing.
They accommodated a later arrival and we enjoyed the sparkling cava at the bar. The snails and salad were good. The onion tart crust was too thick and doughy plus onions were just not right. Entrees were substantial and very good.
Great food & wonderful service. Thanks for a great evening !!
We love Nice Matin, have been going there for years. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere
This is a perfect place to have a coffee, drink, lunch, or dinner, alone or with friends. I love its spaciousness and its low noise level. You can actually hear the people you are with! The food is great. It's a real neighborhood gem.
This was my 1st time at the restaurant. We got stuck on the subway, called to say we would be ~15 min late. They said no problem. Got there 17 min late and there was NO table. Hostess was very dismissive. This was not a good start to my meal there. Was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar, which completely turned the evening around. Cocktails were great, service even better. The bartender (wish I got his name) was knowledgeable and funny. Food was good -- try to short rib ravioli. All in all, once past the hostess it was a lovely experience.
My go to neighborhood brunch/lunch restaurant. Food and service always good.
I ate here for breakfast everyday during a three night stay at the adjoining Lucerne Hotel. The breakfast’s were terrific except for my last day, but that was due to a new waitress who got my order wrong.
I don’t fault her or the restaurant.
I ate dinner here twice. The food was ok, but not great. I certainly had other options, but Nice Matin was extremely convenient and the prices were fair, for NYC.
Always good neighborhood place for dinner breakfast lunch or brunch
A good place for Sunday brunch. I had to ask for coffee and refills, and would have expected it to be offered without asking.
I really appreciated the acoustics. I could talk with my friend without shouting. We were on the late side of brunch time, and I really appreciated that you did not rush us.
I'll be back! Thanks.
Hands down the best steak frites brunch!
Nice Matin's food and service is consistently good. They are a little pricey and noisy, but still a good, comfortable, neighborhood restaurant.
We have enjoyed Nice Matin numerous times. Never disappoints!
When we visit from San Francisco we always try to eat at Nice Matin during our time in the city. This was the first time we tried the price fix and the food, while not bad, was not up to the usual standards we've enjoyed in the past. We will definitely try again on our next visit.
The staff: waitress, host, sommelier - all were excellent, attentive and thoroughly professional.
Lovely food in a lively setting with great attentive service by a knowledgeable staff.
We had a lovely dinner with friends. As requested we were seated at a quiet table and received very good service. Wide variety of food choices and it was a very good experience.
Solid neighborhood spot. Knowledgeable waiter when asked about several wines by the glass.
Waiter had a real attitude.
Food was delicious. Always is
Service was inadequate - slow and unresponsive
Love the place but it is too loud to have more than 2 people and comfortably. 4 is possible though difficult and any more you have to sit outside..
The service is always excellent. The menu has improved with the new chef - more variety and some good additions. The wine list is terrific and gently priced. The sommeliers are a huge asset - keep up the great work!
This is a neighborhood gem close to the Beacon Theatre! The ambiance, food and service are excellent. Great value for the money spent.
Wonderful dinner, loved the chicken pate mousse, steak Diane, halibut and warm chocolate cake.
My favorite neighborhood restaurant. Always look forward to going there and enjoying a great meal. By far the best Fries ever ate anywhere.
Sommelier was fantastic. The ambiance is lovely. The food was average.
We chose this spot because they serve a late brunch and merge into a small plates/ bar bites which was perfect for the various preferences of our group. The menu is smaller, but had what we wanted. Food is above average, but I did have to send my burger back to be done properly. The service was the downfall. Although friendly, they were incredibly slow—particularly the drinks. We we’re almost finished with our first course before drinks arrived. And then took about 20 minutes for second round to arrive after ordered. Atmosphere is nothing special.
Always reliable - service is attentive, food is uniformly high quality and wine list exceptional. A go to for any night of the week.
Everything we ordered was just delicious. Took a friend there for her birthday dinner. This place came recommended by a friend who spends every three months in France. I had the prix-fixe menu so that I could share the appetizer and dessert. The risotto and the lobster forte were to die for! Lovely flourless chocolate cake for dessert, as well.
Always good food, drinks and ambiance.
