Long time Albany residents, First time visitors to Nicole’s. Made a reservation earlier in the day, was glad to get in.
When we arrived, we were greeted rather rudely by the bartender/host, no good afternoon, no welcome, just (tersely) ‘do you have a reservation?’
Service was slow, the waitress came over asked if we were ready to order. Well, ok, menus would’ve helped.
She returned 15 minutes later to take drink orders.
The meals were ok. One of the appetizers, clams in white sauce was good, but clams that are broken or do not open should not be served. The calamari was excellent.
Will we go back, possibly, but the next visit will dictate if there is a third or beyond.
The entrees were good, although they could’ve been hotter.
Nice experience. We were on the back porch outside with only one of the couple there. It was a really nice dinner for the two of us. The service was great, The waitress was very nice and the food as usual was extremely tasty!
Waitress was wonderful but very busy. Received wrong glass door f wine twice after a long wait. Room was loud. Food was wonderful and very generous portions.
Delicious meals, friendly staff. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Awesome food, 1st time there. New server was sweet. Once seasoned, she’ll be great. Bartender is fabulous. Makes a great drink, funny, very personable. Definitely worth the money and would go back again . Hostess was sweet and efficient.
First time at Nicole’s. Food, service and atmosphere was amazing.
Went for our 40th Anniversary. Were treated special from the bartender and our waiter during the whole meal . Meal was excellent, will return.
We went for the last Brunch service --- it was just as delicious as the first time we went.
My friends and I meet here often for brunch (sad to see it go for the season). We’ve tried a lot of different plates and drinks and have never been disappointed. Everything is always on point. On top of that, the service is always friendly and attentive. We went this morning and we had a girl who was our waitress 2 months prior. She remembered a conversation we had that last time and asked about it again. Nicole’s goes above and beyond!
The service was great, the restaurant is really nice, but the food could improve a bit
The food at Nicole’s has been great for 30 years. We last went there pre Covid a few times and the service wasn’t great. Tonight, spot on. Dillon didn’t miss a single detail. Great Fathers Day dinner!
Warm, personable hospitality, attentive service, terrific food. A perfect family dinner.
Great food and great service! We had a great Father's Day brunch.
Excellent drinks from the bar.
The Ragu was delicious and our server made the evening enjoyable by doing a great job.
This was my second visit to Nicole’s. It was my husbands first visit. My first visit was wonderful so I wanted to bring my husband fir the experience. I won’t go into details, suffice to say we were very disappointed. My husband won’t return😞 my first visit was very special so I will give them another chance. In their defense, they comped our meals and explained they had new kitchen staff and it was the waitresses first day back to work.🤷🏼♀️
Great brunch menu! Great service as well.
I took my 5yr old daughter to dinner with me for a special Mommy-Daughter date night. We had a perfect booth side table which was great, and the staff were so sweet and attentive. I very much appreciate that the menu features plant-based items. Please try the polenta fries!! I am looking forward to taking my partner on a date-night here next time ❤️ Thank you for a wonderful evening Nicole’s!
We had a wonderful dining experience. Service, food and atmosphere were lovely. We ate inside the dining room. We cant wait to go back and eat out on their patio.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere. They always are worth the visit.
Large portions, good service. Had the hazelnut chicken and shrimp + scallop scampi. Both delicious. Chicken was a bit sweeter than expected.
Food was great! Service was great! Love the place, the ambiance, would go again and tell others to go as well
I love it at Nicole's. Everyone is super friendly and the food is delicious. This was actually my last brunch before leaving Albany , since I just recently graduated from Ualbany. I will certainly miss this place and will definitely stop by again if I am ever in the area again. I got the carrot cake pancakes and egg flatbread. My family got the steak and eggs and chicken and waffles. We all enjoyed our food and the staff was so kind and attentive.
Entrées were very good, appetizers were somewhat cold and lacked flavor.
Very good food, and service.
Waitress was new. Didn't offer soup or salad.
Excellent selection of drinks and the short rib ragu was incredibly delicious! We’ve also been here a few times for brunch and it is hands down the best quality in the area! Highly recommend.
Absolutely love the restaurant! The brunch is amazing. Only thing....The last time we went for brunch, we were seated then not one person came over to us for at least 15mins. It was busy so we understood, but it was at least 15 minutes. My husband had to go to the hostess stand and ask if someone could wait on us.. other than that everything was amazing! The bartender was awesome! Very personable!
Cocktails were delicious, menu was innovative, food was delicious and our server was outstanding!
Our first post vaccination dinner with friends who I hadn’t seen since last year!
We loved our experience. The best Eggplant Parmigiano Ive had in a very long time. My fiance was so happy with his Chicken Marsala, and we both cleaned up every last bite. This is definitely a gem of a restaurant. ❤
We have a wonderful time sitting in the beautiful outdoor patio Saturday for my birthday. The food and drinks were amazing as was the incredible service :). Highly recommend
Nichol's has been a fine Albany restauarant for many years. We have been going for a least 15 years; but at our last visit it became clear something has gone seriously wrong with this establishment (maybe due to the challenges of re-opening after Covid? A change in management?).
The disappointments commenced immediately upon entering the restaurant: 1) It was immediately apparent that the place was significantly understaffed: had to wait and eventually track down a waiter to be seated (no maitre d' in sight). The waiter seemed confused about seating arrangements. 2) The tables were not clean, the same was true for the silver ware. 3) Although the place was nearly empty (another red flag), long interludes required for water, appetizer and entres. 3) waiter was unkempt which was compunded by 4) amature, slothful, inempt and apathetic service ( hate it when you have to keep tracking down the waiter to re-fill water glasses, etc.). Bread was stale, appitizer (fried calamari) arrived cold and rubbery. 5) My wife's diner was inedible (Grilled Salmon with spaghetti squash and citurs beurre blanc sauce). The samon was grossly over-cooked, the spaghetti squash was served as a blacked mass of carbon fiber - sans the citurs beurre sauce. They offered to and did serve another diner, too late to be enjoyed.
My dinner ("zuppa di pesce" or fish soup) was not bad, but you would think any dish that contains the word "soup" in its description would be a clear cue that a spoon might be required to consume it. Nope, not here. Again, had to track down the waiter to request the table setting be completed with addition of a spoon. Again understaffing what is billed as an upscale restaurant with incompetent employees is not going to be a successful business plan, as it will inevitably leave customers with a bad taste in their mouths, as it did here.
So there you have it, you have been warned; enter at your own risk and if you do, you might want to bring along your own wait staff.
I was with a party of 5. Everyone loved what they ordered and were raving. It was a great atmosphere, although the restaurant is very small. We will definitely come again and recommend to friends.
Great brunch option for breakfast club. Speciality drinks and food was great.
Awesome find in Albany — look forward to returning to try everything on the menu!
Lisa was great!
