Even though I'd booked a table when I arrived the place was shut and no one was answering the phone.
Brilliant meal and drinks!
I can to nine jars on Saturday the 12th and the food and service was fantastic. But we were on the VIP table - the 18th we were on a normal table and wasn’t very impressed with the service. It was very quiet yet we were ignored for ages. I ordered the lamb but changed my mind and was still given lamb - was then told I’d have to wait over an hour for a burger - I wasn’t particularly impressed by the service or the attitude of the staff member.
Friendly & efficient staff, outdoor area was well set up & just about warm enough. Only minor complaint was that the kebab dishes (2no.) had not enough meat in them! Overall a good experience.
Love the outside eating area. Great service and food as always.
Was very disappointed with the rib eye steak
Tasted very salty and didn't think it was good value for money
I like my steaks unseasoned and this one tasted as if they put steak seasoning on the rib eye
Tbh wasnt much better than a wetherspoons version
All good, slight delay in additional drinks required. And seating issue, we were all sat in area together and we had to squeeze past a round table in the middle to get out, not ideal. Maybe they could have been sat in a different area
The lamb shish dish was divine as was the potted crab and the cocktails. Service was great and the atmosphere fantastic. Felt like a treat.
Was a really lovely evening, we all had a lovely meal, lovely cocktails, really relaxed feel to the place, staff were lovely too, would definitely go back again.
Another fantastic meal at Nine Jars, lovely food and drinks
Had a nice time but was seated in the wrong area to start with it was cramped but they were very happy to move us into the restaurant as I did ask for that when I booked the table.
Food was great we had the keddington sirloin steak it was perfect the house larger was also good. Service was very good very polite and helpful
Will return again soon thanks
Not a big menu but plenty of variety for different tastes . My daughter had the lamb shish which was huge but very tasty . I had the special - pumpkin tortellini which was very good . Our waiter was very friendly and we no long waits for service .
My own tiny gripe was when we got there at 6 when we booked we were told we had to vacate the table by 7-15 so felt a little bit rushed .
I had a lovely lunch with a friend. We had a selection of the Tapas - great food! Our waitress, Emily was friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend.
The coffee machine is very noisy not allowing us to hold a conversation. I will make sure to sit the other end of the room as it was excessive .
Nine jars have improved since I last visited with a referb, service has also improved and meal was great with a special board as well, great new cellar bar with glass floor was a added at the referb, good keep it up ninejars
Amazing way to celebrate Valentines Day both me and the Mrs thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
Nine Jars is by far the best place to eat in Haverhill and the surrounding area!
The service was good and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the Sweet Chilli Duck Stir Fry (one of the specials) and my girlfriend had the Three Meat Roast. We had only planned on going in for a main but once we saw the dessert menu we couldn’t resist! I would recommend the Banana Cheesecake. Also the choice of drinks was amazing, something for everyone.
We would both recommend Nine Jars to our family and friends and will be going back in the near future.
Although the food was tasty the service was not. We were offered bread etc whilst we waited for our meal but this took so long to come that we had only just finished when our meals arrived. Two arrived and it was a good five mins before the other two meals arrived. Also at end of meal although we asked for bill we waited nearly 30 mins to actually pay. There was a 40th birthday party going on so I would expect a bit of noise which is fine but the children were being allowed to play on the floor in the middle of the restaurant which I did find annoying.
At the moment with the restrictions of what you can have in the bistro in comparison to the bar area no I wouldnt recommend. We came down for tapas and cocktails but unable to have them in the bistro section! We could have gone through to the bar granted but it was rammed and music so loud. I wanted to go order a pina colada in the bar but was told I would not be allowed to bring it through to the bistro which is absolutely ridiculous. If you have something on your menu I should be able to drink it wherever I choose to! Even in the loo. Won't be coming back in a hurry as don't appreciate as a paying customer being told what I can and can't have.
Had the sausage and mash special and it had no veg or peas with it. Three very small sausages. A little bit disappointed.
Normally we would go to this restaurant as we really like the food and the environment and service is usually good. However for this experience the service was terrible and friends that had driven down to have a meal with us had to therefore leave really late. Only half the starters arrived promptly, leaving half the party watching others eat. We then had to wait over an hour for the mains. We would have understood if the restaurant was busy but on this occasion it was quiet. Not sure if the current refurbishment affected service but would have been appreciated being informed of any anticipated delays. Hope this improves as we really enjoy eating here!
Food was great, but the area our table was in was too dark, we couldn’t read the menu or see the food ( had to use the torches in our phones!!!) once we had finished eating a table had been reserved for us. Cocktails were good apart from the pina colada, which was disappointing! Would recommend the Zombie. Service was good. Tapas was very tasty. Will definitely visit again.
Good food staff very friendly and efficient. Looking forward to going again.
Went in there specifically to have a roast as advertised on the website...but they weren’t doing them. Bit disappointed.
Had something else instead which was nice.
Not many people in there and ended up with just myself and the person I was with.
Service was good.
On arrival we were shown to our table by a lovely waitress, who was very attentive. She explained that today was her first day and she was a little nervous, especially when we asked her something she wasn't sure about.
The food was quite a while coming, and didn't all together, but it was delicious, and worth the wait.
Best place in town by a mile. Great food and drink and just a great place to be!!
Menu confusing even the waitress didn’t appear to understand it, cold food had to be sent back also waffles you couldn’t cut as they were to hard ... wasn’t even offered an apology or a few pounds knocked off ... very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend or return
Service very slow and staff pleasant but not overly friendly or welcoming. Food quite good.
Plenty of far better places around for the price of the meal and drinks.
It looks like a lively fun place to hang out and eat but it couldn't have been further from that. Very disappointed. Thankfully it was a stop over onto our main evening. Maybe of a weekend its different but I can only judge it on our experience that night and that night wasn't memorable. Sorry
Used to love going to nine jars and having small plates or flatbread but small plate belly pork was dry and hard and mini fajitas were so hot and spicy I have had them before but they were not that hot and when I told the girl she said I don’t no I don’t eat them and service was very slow I no we had nine small plates but we waited ages for drinks even though there was hardly anyone in
Relaxed setting for dinner, service staff were brilliant but food was basically inedible. Would not reccomend.
I like the lively but civilised ambience in Nine Jars - and love that it is an independent venue. There was lovely music from a keyboard/ singer musician when we there ( Friday).
Unfortunately the evening we went it took an hour and a half to get our food and it wasn’t really that busy 😔
The place was dark and hot, we got seated at some rough & dirty table with chairs that looked like school chairs, as soon as we sat down the couple on next table asked the young staff member where their food was as they had already waited 40 mins, after 15 mins we still didn’t have our drink order taken, 3 ladies on another table had finished their drinks & still hadn’t received their food, one other couple got up & walked out. My partner noticed no one was actually eating! Eventually 2 people got their food but the third person was still waiting. At this point we realised no one was going to take our drink order let alone food so we walked out. Certainly wasn’t worth booking a table for. Not the best start to my partner’s birthday meal.
Took around 10 mins to be greeted . Only 2 tables full yet took 45 min for 4 burgers to be served. Food was average. Even though they apologized for the wait we feel disappointed
The service at the nine jars was very good, however, the menu was not. Burgers dominated the main meal options. The menu was unimaginative. The tapas sharers (no starters on offer) were extautionate, with 3 duck pancakes and 3 wings between us. For the quality and mundane nature of the offerings, we found the nine jars overpriced. At present the adult atmosphere means it is the best option in Haverhill, however, I hope in the future there is greater competition, that encourages more on offer.
We had a groupon gifted to us and booked a table through open table which was great and very easy. On arriving at the restaurant we were advised by the waitress that we should have phoned to book and normally they would not have let us use the voucher but as she was a very nice person and she would on this occasion! We were the only people in the restaurant so not really an issue, service was ok to start but we were not asked if we wanted more drinks or anything else after the food had been served. When we finished we waited and waited for the plates to be cleared and to be asked if we wanted anything else but she never came back in the end we went to the bar to make sure we didn't have to pay anything else and left. Food is served on wooden boards that smell food was ok will not be returning.
Food and service very good. Front of house excellent it was there first night running the restaurant
We went as a family of four for Father’s Day. It was very quiet only 2 other tables occupied. We were a bit disappointed with the menu choices as it was mostly burgers or 4 other options one of which was sold out. I could only have a steak as I am Coeliac so very limited. We were expecting a roast which would have been nice. The desserts the kids chose looked nice, but they had run out of whipped cream ( they knocked £1 off as a goodwill gesture). All in all was ok but I was expecting more of a choice. We had over an hour wait for main meal & it wasn’t busy!
Once again a fantastic evening. Jasmine made us feel very welcome & was attentive through out our visit.
Fabulous food, great ambiance & without hesitation I can say that we will definitely be back again very soon. (We visit almost every week!)
Our favourite place in town, whether eating or just for drinks.
