No1 Ship Street
We had a lovely meal. Wouldn't go back, but worth a 1 off experince.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We would definitely recommend to friends and family.
A nice place to have a special lunch in oxford it made our day , we will return the next time we are in oxford .
The food was relatively basic. The meat was dry. It was quite noisy so the restaurant was not right for a romantic meal.
We went to No.1 Ship Street for dinner as it has been recommended by a number of our friends. We weren't disappointed at all. We got a nice welcome and was seated straight away, even given a choice of tables. Service was informed, polite & fast. The food was really very good, and well priced too.
Excellent staff, very slick casual dining. We’ll be going again very soon.
Another excellent meal at Ship Street. The food has always been excellent, the service impeccable and the ambience really buzzy and friendly. Can’t recommend Ship Street enough. The Lobster and Cookie dough skillet were the stars of the show this time. Give it a visit you won’t be disappointed!!
Visited for lunch for my 40th Birthday. Really lovely restaurant and the food and service were excellent, highly recommend the surf and turf to share.
Fabulous, what a find, right in the middle of Oxford, there was nothing we could fault.
We ate at No. 1 before a theatre performance on Saturday. From the moment we arrived we knew that this would be a top quality dining experience. The menu uses familiar ingredients but in novel ways. There is an emphasis on fish but plenty of options for meat eaters and vegetarian diners. There’s also a great selection of house cocktails and wine by the bottle or glass. Service was attentive and timely but we never felt rushed. The surroundings are elegant but not too formal. Overall a special dining experience and one to return too!
Beautiful restaurant, very attentive staff, great food. I had half a lobster and my only complaint would be that I wish I’d had the whole one, it was delicious and I wanted to eat more! They were also kind enough to give us champagne while we waited for our table to be ready. This was my third visit and I’ll definitely be back.
Great restaurant with a varied menu if beautifully prepared dishes and a decent wine list
Friendly personable staff, great menu, delicious food and great service.
Staff were uniformly helpful and attentive. Menu offered a varied choice and meals were
The service was fantastic - our waiter was incredibly attentive and aways made sure we had enough water. He also brought us bread an olives as soon as we'd sat down, which was much appreciated!
The food was also delicious (we particularly enjoyed the quail risotto and the calf's brain)
This was a Christmas gift from my daughter and her family all was good although I would recommend when taking bookings for tables at 2.30 they tell you they stopped serving at 3.30 although not rushed they were tidying up around us! Other than that very nice Sunday afternoon!
Fabulous gem of a place. Decor is very cool, but that's of minor importance ... the food! The food is outstanding, the chef's at work there are seriously on top of their game. Menu is varied, changing and seasonal. Excellent wine list / drinks menu (something for everyone I would say).
Service - attentive, not intrusive ... all in all: there are many established "names and chains" that would do well to learn from No 1 Ship Street.
This is how dining can be done, and therefore should be done.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food and great service. We'll definitely be back
Really lovely place for meal with friends- good service( knowledgeable) and really enjoyed the oysters/ pie and plaice
Excellent service and loved the ambience. Could not fault the food. Only downside was our small table near the door BUT it did not spoil the evening
The food at dinner was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. I will definitely go back.
Convenient location in city centre. Food was good, with a good selection of specials as well as the main menu. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. Overall a very pleasant experience
A good restaurant with nice ambience in central location. The staff were pleasant and attentive when needed and knew the menu well. The food was good, but overall we felt it was a little pricey.
Swish dining room with copper topped tables. Menu is old school excellent with calf’s brains, foie gras etc. everything well cooked, delivered at pace, with prompt service. Will be back.
Great ambiance, excellent service and food. Experience probably enhanced by our excellent table for two located by the window to the left of the entrance.
I had the best risotto I have had for ages. The set lunch is very good value, the location and ambience good. It was recommended by a local. ....
Really enticing and wide menu with good vegetarian and fish options in a very relaxing setting. Have been here a couple of times now - the second time we visited Oxford mainly to go to the restaurant - and likely to return regularly.
The set menu is excellent value and although limited, the quality of the food is very good and portion size is right for lunch.
Lovely candlelit dining, knowledgable staff and wonderful food
Excellent service & food, we will definitely return.
Excellent venue atmosphere and food please go if you get chance!
Recommended by people who we trust for food, No. 1 did not disappoint. Cocktails were terrific. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Our servers (a bit slow in the beginning) were lovely.
All is very good except that that it always seems rather noisy. I don't see the point in background music taht maost of the time time you can't actually hear and that just adds to the din. And background music is not to everyone's taste anyway - certainly not mine.
Delicious food, perfect authoritative service, central location and a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.
We had a delicious meal. The ambience was lovely and the staff were attentive
Great service with good value honest food. Well done.
Went here with my husband for our Wedding Anniversary. The food was delicious, and the cocktails were the best we’d ever had in any upmarket cocktail bar! The service was exceptionally good. Nice atmosphere, but unfortunately we were stuck next to another couple in a cramped corner, although it was only 5 pm and there were plenty of empty tables. It restricted both our conversations somewhat. Perhaps we should have asked to be moved? Not sure of the protocol. We did think it was rather expensive, so would probably only recommend for a special occasion.
Looked up on TripAdvisor and No.1 was rated highly. And I see why. Service was excellent our server Maya (hope that's correct) was awesome. Knowledgeable, friendly and very good!! Food was awesome and the selection of wines brilliant. This place in my book is highly recommended.
