No1 Ship Street
Nice ambiance, quiet restaurant with friendly service and fairly classical flavours and dishes competently prepared.
A really good find - excellent fresh seafood and attentive service and reasonably priced considering te standard of the food.
Very good experience throughout the evening. Made feel welcome from the start, lovely atmosphere, very good food.
Well worth a visit.
We had an excellent meal here last Monday. The food was absolutely outstanding, the staff were super attentive and the ambience was just lovely - cosy, atmospheric and very welcoming. Thank you!
We had a great lunch here and highly recommend it. The Sunday lunch was really good value and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
Stunning food, great staff and service. Was sad the decor was showing clear signs of repair. Bathrooms were very dirty, sinks very water marked and no soap. Toilet roll holders has caused visible damage to walls. Paintwork showing grease and marks.
I am sure when first fine it was quite the venue, sadly it let down the great food and very good staff
Great food, lovely atmosphere, service initially good but had to wait too long to pay and had to get up and ask for them to get the card machine.
Also £26 service charge for a party for four which was automatically applied to the bill .....hmmm, they did remove but it left us feeling a little disappointed, let the diner decide on the service charge/ tip
( which we did leave, but not £26!!)
We were staying the weekend in Oxford and had booked No1 Ship Street based on a quick search on the Internet. What a great choice!! The food was excellent, as was the service, and the whole evening was very enjoyable. I can highly recommend the Brill with Lobster Risotto which was superb
A cut above the usual Oxford fare. Good, rather different menu supplemented with specials. Lots of fish, which always appeals. Attractive wine list with many at very reasonabl prices. .
Went on Wednesday with a friend to talk business actually talked about what a great restaurant, food ambiance service all 5 star 🌟 would go again!
I really cannot say enough about No1 Ship street. I don't know if they are on their way to a Michelin Star, but everything we ordered was done to perfection, and this is what makes a restaurant great: Whatever it is that you do: do it well;
The steak was cooked as it was ordered, the wine was outstanding, and the menu had enough choice that the whole table was very satisfied. DO NOT miss the Lobster Bisque.
We had a good meal with good service, but three reasons why I wouldn't recommend are: 1) we were charged for 3 lobster bisques when we only had two; 2) the service charge was automatically applied and was not optional (feels more like a tax); and 3) despite requesting a refund for the lobster bisque twice by email, there has been no response at all.
We went here on our first night on honeymoon so the restaurant kindly gave us a complimentary glass of champagne each. This was a nice surprise. The food was delicious and the service was great. The cost was a little high but that’s because we treated ourselves to a bottle of champagne at £78! Was worth it though.
Friendly staff, beautiful ambiance and great food.
Trued it first time based on recommendations. This is my new favourite spot in Oxford now! I highly commend the devilled kidneys.
A lovely room and great service but the food just wasn’t up to that standard - mushy confit octopus, a plaice dish with a sauce that was pure vinegar, a stingy portion of lemon tart with burnt pastry. Far better options in Oxford for this money.
Lovely with courteous, attentive staff. Great calming ambience and a ban on mobiles gets my vote every time
Good choice of dishes and good service. I will come again
Top notch, great food, excellent service and a (very) lively atmosphere. Prices were about right for surroundings and location.
Delicious food, amazing service in a cosy but very noisy place.
Food is great, service also great, cheapest wine at £35 for a bottle of Beaujolais a bit heavy.
I used to eat at 1 Ship Street in the 1960's when it was a Chinese restaurant so it was fun to revisit it as it is now. My friend had a whole seabass that she enjoyed very much and I had the confit chicken leg which was delicious. Thank you for a very pleasant evening!
Absolutely delicious. A little piece of paradise hidden away in an Oxford side street. Somewhere to spend time with those who are special to us.
No.1 Ship Street has lovely ambience - sophisticated, subtle lighting, lovely views out onto a historic Oxford street. The food is very good, attractively presented, and served efficiently by friendly staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The specials were delicious! Nice atmosphere and convenient location. Would return again!
Great food and service, highly recommend!!!
Lovely lunch with good ambience.
Amazing food, great Atmosphere and staff were brilliant. 10/10! Can’t wait to go again.
Really good food. Menu could have had more vegetarian options. Excellent value and friendly staff.
We have every intention of visiting again but in the evening next time.We were very impressed by the food and the service. The only minor niggle is that perhaps they could provide a list of their
specials with the menu.
Perfect. Flat iron steak cook mid rare, burrata risotto very creamy, tomato and feta with mint could have been a whole meal. Clean, beautiful surrounding and good service. Nice wine list.
Sunday Roast was great!
Great Food, great atmosphere. Service was efficient and waiting staff were friendly and engaging. Would definitely go back.
Disappointed! was really looking forward to our visit for my husband's birthday.
Missing item's from our order, given the dessert menu before the mains had arrived, drinks took a long time to arrive, just not what i was expecting!
The quality of the food was outstanding, sadly the service was hit & miss.
Our first visit was to celebrate our anniversary but it certainly will not be our last. Everything was just as we would have wished.
Delighted to have found - at last - a top quality restaurant in Oxford where they are sadly thin on the ground. In every way to be recommended - and will go again as we are relatively local. The only downside was the choice and volume level of the music - which was invasive to the point of being irritating rather than discretely pleasantly filling silences in conversation. But this is very much a matter of personal taste.
Nice cookie dough dessert but the rib was not worth £70.
Recommended by a friend, and we were not disappointed. A superb evening, with excellent food and impeccable service. Cosy atmosphere with lots of ambience.
We received a warm welcome on arrival, and we were very well looked after by Jose.
Recommend the flat iron steak, and the cod fillet. For dessert we shared the baked Alaska, which was again excellent. Wine was reasonably priced, and enjoyed!
Will be returning!
Great restaurant! Nice ambiance! Very good staff except the lady at the door who was constantly messing with her loose hair. All the rest were very professional. The food vas very good and the steak exceptional. Grilled to perfection! Superb!
Great food and great service at a very special restaurant in Oxford.
Great for couples and groups.
