Nobu Downtown | Bar & Lounge
Had the special lunch unfortunately not as good as the ven to box that they had previously. Opted for the skirt steak dish that was horrible. It was bland and had some odd chipotle flavor. I came to Nobu for the Japanese flavor this was sub par and off the usual cuisine. The last time I went their stove had some issues and the host failed to tell me this. Unfortunate I was with some people that couldn’t eat raw food.
Nice ambiance. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. Food came out in a timely fashion and was very good. Small portions and pricy ... but that’s expected right?!?!
It was fine, the portions are small, prices are high. I wouldn’t say I was wowed by the food. If it was amazing the cost would not have been an issue but I’ve had better..
The bar is the perfect spot for lunch - while the menu is limited compared to downstairs, everything is great and worth trying. And it's slightly more intimate and comfortable for two or three people.
We had a lunch deal, food was wonderful.
great value for money
Wonderful place, very delicious food, excellent service
The place is cool for a cocktail and a hang-out, but to be honest the food is very overprices for what it is. Tiny little bite size portions for the price of real meals.
I have been to several Nobu's in various different cities around the world, but this was the most amazing meal. Service was good and our server had made some great recommendations that we took her up on. We had about 6 different dishes and other than the Wagyu dumplings, everything was absolutely amazing. Fabulous flavours. Great balance of flavours; not overly seasoned and definitely not bland. There was nothing wrong with the Wagyu dumplings, it was more of a personal preference. We didn't realize it was going to be ground meat. We had this amazing Tuna with a truffle butter sauce; just melted in your mouth. The Chilean Sea Bass was delish, moist and crispy skin. White fish new style sashimi was as always, very delicate and refined flavouring. The lobster tacos were perfectly cooked and seasoned perfectly. The scallops with the brussel sprouts again were cooked to perfection; we don't even like brussel sprouts, but they were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Lastly, we had the soft shell crab with the watermelon. Great balance of the sweetness from the watermelon with the crunch of the soft shell crab.
The review for weekend brunch. Maybe brunch is not Nobu's expertise-- the menu is relatively weak, service is not very attentive. The server gave us an advance notice when each of us ordered that they cannot bring food for all at the same time, that is another weak point. Maybe Nobu is making minimum investment for their brunch.
Love the bar/lounge are of Nobu Downtown. The food is always great and I now have my favorite dishes which I continue to order: tuna sashimi salad, crispy rice with tuna, and black cod with miso are a few of my go tos. The music is a bit loud. Restaurants forget that people also want to chat while they are enjoying their amazing meal.
It's the scene versus the food. I have been to many Sushi/Fusion restaurants and the food does not justify the cost. Unless you are at fashion week and need to make a statement go to a good local sushi joint.
It was just off and maybe our expectations were too high based on what our friends had said about the other Nobu locations in Miami/Vegas - or maybe we went too early at 8:30 and it's a better late night spot. The ambiance just wasn't right, the food was good - some was great - but the rest just good. It felt cold and quiet. People were dressed really casual when we thought it was a more dressy place. It felt disconnected. We were in and out - felt like we had been to much more fun and trendy places in NYC.
sushi as good as always. ordered a chicken but it was kind of raw and i guess it was because the kitchen was closing soon and they rushed through it. the waiter also rushed us to pay the bill. it usually my favorite restaurant in ny and most cities I go to, but tonight wasn’t the best. still probably one of the best restaurants in ny
Food and service were excellent! The desert was to die for! Very nice atmosphere. We will definitely return.
Our experience was complex as the week end brunch, although booked as such, had been discontinued. That said, the maitre d’ was exceptional in her handling of the potentially awkward situation. Her smooth, yet totally professional attitude was impressive and thoroughly appreciated. I have been a regular patron of Nobu Berkeley and dating back a couple of decades Nobu Park lane. I have always found the staff gracious and professional but never previously felt to need to review. Wanloe at downtown New York Nobu changed my mind. This accolade is fully deserved. Many thanks Wanloe, you turned a potentially stressful situation in to a thoroughly pleasurable one.
Expensive in comparison with the quality of the food. Service and ambience: nothing to highlight.
Great restaurant! Amazing food and atmosphere
Lovely as always.
My family and I always go to Nobu during restaurant week and we are never disappointed. The food, drinks, service and ambiance are outstanding!
Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. It was a fun experience with delicious food and presentation!
The food was amazing, our server was suoer helpful and funy, and the ambience spectacular.
Une seconde expérience.tout aussi enchanteresse que la premiere
we had a lovely evening with a perfect waitress who recommended us good !!
the atmosphere and service of the restaurant were good, but the food was tasteless
Delicious food... some of the best sushi I have eaten. We went for lunch, it was quiet and elegant.
I would go back again.
Overall the food was good but the octopus was horrible, it was so hard to chew that I had to spit it out.
I love Nobu - Great food, no complaints on that.
However, their booking people and greeters should go to charm school. I booked a table for 4 and asked
for downstairs table. I called later to confirm, which they did but now asked me for a credit card. Weird, but okay. Then they told me they would like to have a second seating at 8:30 - and my reply was a flippant “good luck with that.”
When we arrived we were told our seats were upstairs. I complained that I specifically reserved downstairs and they said I could but would have to be done by 8:15. All along this conversation the front desk people throwing out attitude like I should simply thank them for being allowed to dine there.
“Nobu-tude” getting old.
It was great to try Nobu during restaurant week but the vegetarian options were a bit disappointing. The tofu dish was extremely spicy. The service wasn't very attentive for this level of a restaurant. I would only recommend to sushi lovers.
The food was delicious and the space was impressive. We went during NYC Restaurant Week so our meals were marginally less expensive than they would be normally, but the food was good enough to make us consider returning outside the discount period.
Très bon dîner dans un cadre splendide
We took advantage of Restaurant Week and had an incredible lunch. The flavors of each item ordered were wonderful and unique.
What’s the hype about? Average food that is highly overpriced. Service was average. It was ‘a dinner’. I wouldn’t recommend it - far better options in NYC at this price point.
Wonderful Location and building. This restaurant has all the ingredients for a fantastic evening out.
The food was disappointing. Highly overrated restaurant, will not be returning. Only Nobu worth visiting is Nobu Malibu
One of the most amazing meals I've ever had. Appetizer, main, dessert - Everything was incredible. Service and ambience also excellent. Will definitely return.
I was there from 2-3. Waiters shift ended at during our service and we had to wait Anna glad down servers after that. Disappointing for Nobu.
Also, I called weeks in advance to make reservation for restaurant week. I was told that I could make a reservation up till 3. Day of, I got a call to confirm and was told that restaurant week deal is only till 2pm. After lots of back and forth and ultimately asking to speak to manager, they moved our reservation to 2. I was disappointed that the hostess was reluctant to fix the situation when the mistake was caused by Nobu staff.
I loved the miso cod but it’s too expensive for such a tiny portion.
The rest of the food is ok.
Very inconsiderate staff. When asked to help with spilled water all over the table it took them forever. Never got our soy sauce that we requested 2 times at least. Waited for the menu over 15 min. Ridiculous
Mediocre food and poor service.
Overall good service and food but I detected a bit of an attitude when the server assumed we were just there because of restaurant week. Once we demonstrated we were ordering more than the special menu he seemed more hospitable. That should not be the case in a high end restaurant as it demonstrates lack of classiness
