What Insiders Are Saying
London’s third Nobu, hidden away in the basement of their self-named hotel in Shoreditch. The space is impressive and the menu is predictively pricey.
First and foremost, great value for money. You are able to have a good sized main dish (the black cod is particularly good - but steak was over cooked). The sushi selection is basic but good quality. Sashimi wasn’t amazing. Overall good experience, had live music but should have been on the whole time. Atmosphere not anything special. Good for casual meal with friends.
Lovely food and outstanding service. If noise levels were slightly better then it is the best place to be. Keep up the good work!
Same food, service & ambience as the other Nobu restaurants, but younger crowd (and noisier)
Bad service and overpriced food over a quite well marketed but not worthwhile place!
Extremely noisy , we could not hear food explanation from waiters for our tasting menu, to many different waiters, bed sommelier ,we ended with white wine with meet , long wait in between courses, even waiters come to apologise for delays. For service really bed marks. Food was excellent. We will not recommend this restaurant if you want to have a nice and enjoyable meal
Brilliant service. Our waiter was very attentive. Food was great too. Very pricey as expected especially with the portion size. Definitely the place for special occasions. Did not disappoint and met our expectations.
The food was good but not overwhelming. Very friendly and attentive service.
The food here is really good. Service is average/ok - I had informed in advance about our 10th wedding anniversary and asked for a nice table but it was forgotten. Didn't give us extra attention for the special occasion. However, they take allergies very seriously - one extra bonus point.
Really lovely Saturday brunch. Quite expensive but worth it. Particularly liked that you could each choose brunch option so if you don’t drink you don’t have to go for the bottomless option and you can also order of the a la carte even if others on the table are brunching
Wonderful brunch at Nobu. The staff were amazing and really made my partners birthday special. The food was amazing, I would 100% return!
I made a reservation for 9:30 PM Saturday night at about 8 PM Saturday. When I checked in the hostess said you can’t just make a reservation, you must call and confirm that reservation. Which in 5-8 years and 25 countries later I’ve never made a reservation and called to confirm in the same hour. She said there are no seats and seated us in the bar to wait. After 45 minutes we ordered a drink, and ended up getting food in the bar. She finally came over 90 minutes later and said a table is ready. At that point I declined because we already received drinks and food. Our first drink took almost 45 minutes to receive because it was so difficult for them to make a vodka soda, and they remade her Maitai eight different times because they couldn’t make it properly. It took about 45 minutes per drink to get, so I went up and got the drinks from the bar myself, because the staff just couldn’t seem to bring them to the table. Finally I ordered shots of tequila so at least I could get a good feeling because it took so long to receive normal drinks. So the ambience was interesting… I love the actual structure and decoration, good job. But there were at least 40 crazy people in there, half were women wearing crazy clothing which revealed everything, and at least 5 couples making out at tables at all times, some with hands up skirts. I saw eight different women so drunk they fell out of their chairs onto the floor, and one couple definitely had sex in the bathroom at least twice… If I noticed anybody can notice. So paying £200 for that experience was bad. I have been to at least 8 Nobu’s, I will never go back to this one, and unlikely I will go back to any others now. It was a really terrible experience.
Great place . Excellent food . Very kind, helpful staff. But expensive . £330+ for dinner for two.
2 of us had an upset stomach the next day. Very pushy with the expensive water
We tried the taster menu which was full of flavour but not the most exciting choice of food, we left feeling as though we would have enjoyed the food more if we had picked it ourselves.
The service itself was very good but the food came out very slowly, we were there for at least 2.5 hours and it just meant we got a bit bored waiting for the next course.
The atmosphere was great even though we only went on a Wednesday night, it was very busy.
I consider myself something of a Nobu expert. I dined at Nobu and Nobu Next Door no fewer than 50 times a year the 22 years I lived in NYC and I dine at Nobu Malibu and Matsuhisa regularly now that I live in Los Angeles. When I’m anywhere there’s a Nobu, from Miami to Moscow, I make sure to have at least one meal there. Therefore it is with great regret that I give this Shoreditch location a less than stellar review, as it didn’t live up to the expectations set by Nobu. The service in particular was underwhelming. I waited 20 mins in a fairly empty room to place my sake order. I had to ask the woman who poured my water to slide me the actual glass as she was going to walk away from the table after she poured it out of arm’s reach. The fried chicken appetizer tasted dry, as if it’d been fried earlier in the evening and re-heated. The classic dishes were excellent—my sashimi salad, black cod miso and spicy creamy crab were all perfect. But my final dish, a hand roll, was sloppily thrown together. This is a new location and I hope they make the necessary improvements. The waiter who headed my table tried his best, but he was supported by a team in need of more training.
I love nobu!!!! Yellow tails sashimi order it twice and the baby ribs mate. I'm goin back tomorrow
The staff at Nobu made for an excellent food experience, two birthday celebrations and a graduation all rolled into one. The food was, as expected, fantastic !
Beautiful food - great service - highly recommend black cod!
Arrived for the early slot and was offered the worst table despite the restaurant being empty.
Everything was okay. But the service was underwhelming. The staff were quite informal and it wasn’t as seamless as I expected. The weekend brunch buffet is decent, and I felt like the food selection as great. Overall, service was a let down.
Called to confirm my booking, was on hold for 8 mins!! Also, next time it'd be good if your staff could make guests aware at the time of booking that a corporate function is taking place in the main restaurant. So not to be surprised at the time of arrival when you're escorted to a segregated hall with much smaller tables and more casual ambience.
Good value for brunch, was surprisingly full the whole day! Mains for brunch was a decent size portion and the dessert bar was great. I was expecting the decor to be a bit nicer however was a good meal overall.
Loved the food, service was impeccable and we were full and satisfied
Had a really nice meal here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. Went for the signature tasting menu and every course was delicious. Decor was nice and spacious. We had a booth and it felt private. Nice bar area and toilets!
Quite good food but it feels like you’re eating in a heaving club - extremely loud music. Research shows that gets people to buy more alcohol............
I love Nobu and this was amazing as usual. However the receptionist was rude to my friend and I. She really diminished the experience. Nonetheless, the manager rectified the whole situation after we spoke to him and brought us back to our usual wonderful nobu experiences. Although she was still unapologetic about her awful reception.
Receptionists can really make or break the value of a restaurants and picking the right fit for your restaurant really is important.
We went for a family brunch on Sunday and it was really exceptional. Great value with a lot of choice and abundant quality food for a set #45 fee. Live music was great, lots of space and good service. We will be back.
Great brunch, though service is inconsistent. Great selection of sushi, desserts are interesting, no drinks included besides tap water
Was ten minutes late for a reservation but didn’t feel hostility or an uneasy atmosphere. Another table was found in adequate time along with a polite and warm manner from the front of house. Ambience was nice the whole atmosphere was beautiful. Food came at a decent time and was delightful. Could not fault a thing
I was hoping for exceptional but we got mediocre. Sad.
Breakfast was fine, but nothing particularly special. It took a little while getting my order in, but food arrived quickly from then.
I had the pancakes but maybe I should try something else next time
Really disappointed with dinner here.... was like being in a nightclub, music ridiculously loud, food average quality with many key dishes not available and service very overbearing.
Will definitely stick to Mayfair Nobu in future....
Amazing food, great service in a beautiful venue! Will definately be returning soon :)
Love Nobu - and the Hotel - great stay - thank you!
Cold, impersonal, trendy, pretentious... Stunning new space, aesthetically beautiful but staff felt a bit blasé, disinterested, mechanical... I was even surprised that they remembered to put a birthday candle and happy birthday message in my chocolate fondant dessert. Food was ok... although a few of our dishes lacked flavor. I will continue to eat at Nobu but not rushing back to this one.
Great service, we had one of the most amazing and attentive waiters. Super friendly, speedy service and great attention to detail. I'd absolutely recommend :).
food is just as good as expected, especially the lobster. higher noise level than nobu mayfair, so not so much for business meals.
The food was lovely and some of the staff were attentitve but the majority were quite blaze and on 2 occasions had unfinished food taken from the table..
I booked a weekday late lunch and luckily we had the restaurant to ourselves. The service was fantastic, food is amazing (especially the black cod) and the wine/drinks selection is fantastic.
