Our style is fundamentally modern British. Using some modern cooking techniques (and old ones) we bring food to you that excites, satisfies and leaves you feeling happy. As a small family run restaurant, we deliver a warm and relaxed atmosphere whilst you dine. You’ll dine in a style that takes you back in time whilst enjoying modern cuisine which really creates that ‘retro’ feel.
It doesn’t stop there.. We’re in the ever growing process of evolving our wine list to bring you the very best wines to match our food from the moment you arrive till the last drop of Muscadet you sip after your dessert.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch in pleasant surroundings and great food.
The food was extremely good and well presented. The staff were attentive and took informative
Delicious and beautifully presented dishes. Very attentive waiting staff. Lovely quiet secluded country location. Overall was a fantastic discovery and highly recommended. Hopefully on their way to something special and award winning.
We drove 70 miles for lunch. This is our second visit and it was just as good as the first visit last year. The portions are a little large for me but the quality of the food was excellent.
The Nook is excellent value for money with very good cooking, friendly staff & represents good value for money
Amazing food and service. We are visiting the area and stubbled across the Nook on trip advisor and we wernt disappointed. Food was amazing and beautifully presented, yet the atmosphere was totally relaxed and chilled. The black garlic butter was that good we brought some from the chef to take home! we can’t wait to visit again.
So lovely and my grandaughter had the best 13th birthday
Food as usual was excellent and is of a fine dining level. The service was better than before and is definitely improving. The young ladies that serve do so with a friendly but professional attitude. We will visit often
Lovely food, great service & very friendly. Will definitely be back.
Been here a few times and always been impressed with the food and service that we have had. We have been with different people and all have enjoyed there experience
My Wife and I went to this restaurant for our Anniversary celebrations. We were not disappointed! The food was great, the best I can remember eating for many years. Great service and good wine to top it all off.
Absolutely delicious starter and main course. The panacotta dessert was over set and not as good. The restaurant was very quiet too so lacked a little atmosphere. But overall a lovely evening out and I would definitely go again
This was our first visit to this restaurant, and it will certainly not be the last time!
The food was carefully and professionally prepared, and if you are prepared to pay just a few extra pounds for a very nice meal, this is the place to go in this area, no other restaurant nearby serves food of this quality.
Another great night with excellent food. This was a second visit and definitely the standard was maintained. Will certainly return again and would recommend to anyone.
We had probably the best meal I can remember . It was tasty with wonderful flavours and textures and looked beautiful. Lovely intimate place and the staff were delightful too.
We have visited The Nook a few times and we were not disappointed this time. We don't usually mark Father's Day but I booked to treat my husband last Sunday. I chose The Nook because I thought it might be relatively child-free! I was probably rather optimistic and a very large party arrived with several young children in tow but we were almost finished by then so didn't bother us unduly. We don't dislike children (have several grandchildren) but the setting in the Nook is not the most child-friendly eatery. I only say that because some restaurants particularly cater with play areas etc. The meal was excellent given the day and the fullness of the place, which was good to see. I thought it was very well priced too. Our roast beef was absolutely delicious. I only marked it down a little on 'star' rating because it is lovely to catch the restaurant at a less busy time. We will return.
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the Nook. We had such high hopes and booked breakfast for Father’s Day.
The waitress who greeted us looked pretty fed up and uninspired - in fact I don’t think I saw her smile once to a customer the entire service.
Secondly I asked for a smaller portion of the breakfast for my son, which they said they could accommodate, however when the food arrived, it was not only the same size as an adult portion, they charged us full whack as well! To rub salt into the wound, there were food items missing off our plate! When I challenged the waitress about it, she didn’t even offer a discount, so essentially we paid the full amount but didn’t get the entire breakfast.
To be fair, the second waitress did apologise, but I don’t think that’s the point. I don’t really think it’s acceptable to charge the full amount when the customer didn’t get what was promised on the menu. “I’ll go back there and give him a slap” doesn’t quite cut it for me as an excuse.
Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be returning to the Nook, which is ashame as we a quite local.
Had a great dinner here with my wife and young son.
The waitresses kept him entertained for the whole time we were there.
Food was as good as it gets.
Gin and tonic was locally sourced and perfect.
A bottle of English Pinot noir added to the whole experience.
Would definitely recommend.
It was a great night with a very warm welcome and great food. The welcomed the children too. Not been for years but will definitely return
Thoroughly enjoyed our recent meal at The Nook. Very tasty & well-presented food coupled with good service & atmosphere. My only criticism is that the chairs weren’t very comfortable.
This is a pleasant place to go out for an evening meal.Unfortunately on our latest visit there were two groups each with a very loud male participant so it was difficult to have a quiet conversation. As the evening progressed they seemed to get louder. Of course, the proprietor is not responsible for customer behaviour and we shall of course return and hope for a better evening.
We've eaten at the Nook a number of times and it's always been excellent. Roast dinner is particularly good and great value at £24 for 3 courses. Good wine selection, excellent service from the staff. Restaurant is set in an old 'cottage' type building in a quiet village/hamlet. The restaurant has always been quite quiet each time we've been. Definitely prefer sitting in the front section where it's a little brighter.
Can't fault it really - the only comment from the most recent meal was that we would have preferred ice cream not clotted cream with the sticky toffee pudding but I'm sure if we'd have asked they would have swapped. (#1stworldproblems!). It's going to be a regular place to visit!
We really enjoyed our lunch and have booked a Sunday birthday lunch with friends
Amazingly flavoursome food, extremely helpful and friendly staff and an a very homely and welcoming atmosphere. It was a truly spectacular dining experience. We will be back again soon! 😁
Really good food, beautifully presented with attentive friendly staff.
The crab croquettes were fantastic!
Staff very attentive and food was lovely... Many thanks x
The food and plates were quite cool by the time they were served and had probably left sitting around beforehand. Otherwise location service and staff were good.
We really enjoyed our meal to celebrate my birthday. Nice table decoration on arrival and,as I had stated when I booked the table that one of our four diners was gluten free, a lovely and different selection of menu choices for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the seasonal garden starter. As it was the day of the royal wedding we had the restaurant to ourselves at lunchtime which was not at all daunting as the ambiance and service made the experience appear cosy and informal.
I have rated this restaurant more highly previously. This visit was a bit disappointing which was a shame as we had been telling our friends what a great local restaurant it is. The service was very slow and they didn't bring any bread- we just had to admire the pretty butter pats arranged on slate with nothing to spread it on. The roasts seemed smaller than before and we asked for more potatoes. The vegetables were beautifully arranged on a platter but this also meant they weren't very warm. My son had the pork which was very dry to the point that he couldn't eat it.
There just didnt seem to be as much attention given in general. A real shame as we had been so impressed on previous visits.
What a really nice place to eat, foot was out of this world, service amazing, prices reasonable. Will be back very soon.
We had a long wait for the meal. Over one hour. Sadly we never had time fir desert as we had to collect our son. So main course was the night out. Food was good though. We were getting a little frustrated with all the waiting. We were told it was something to do with their computer system.
Visited this restaurant on a mid-week night. Was very quiet with only a few others dining. Service was good.
The food we ordered was of a standard which was much better than we expected. The quality of both presentation and more importantly - taste - was up there with other more well known high quality establishments.
We will certainly return and would highly recommend this little know place as worth a journey to eat in.
Excellent meal to celebrate a birthday. Delicious food and lovely service. We were all impressed and will be back again soon. I can also recommend Sunday lunch at the Nook too.
This was not our first visit ,so I knew
That the food and service was going to be to my liking : very good
Lovely member of staff served us, friendly and helpful. Comfortable surroundings. Good choices on menu. Restaurant is walkable from our house, so ideally situated for us - very enjoyable visit.
Charming little restaurant, very welcoming staff, we opted for the a la carte menu, which was very rewarding.
This was our first visit and we will definitely be going back. The food was exquisite and the service was friendly without being intrusive. Highly recommended.
Went for sunday lunch and really enjoyed the food and will definitely go back.
It's surprising how many well-meaning pubs and restaurants with an otherwise inviting menu and nice ambience manage to completely underwhelm when it comes to that faithful barometer of quality food and service, especially when busy: the Sunday roast. At the last minute my wife and I decided to meet up with a chum for Sunday lunch this week and boy was I glad in the end that all the half decent hostelries nearer to home were fully booked. A quick search online and a 30 minute drive later, there we were, hungry and eager to dive in at The Nook. All 3 of us agreed that both the lamb and rib of beef were that rare thing these days: meat which was clearly well sourced, well cooked and well delicious! The wine list is fairly small but far from run of the mill, presenting some interesting and yummy choices at reasonable prices. My only small niggle, and this may just be a personal thing, but waiting staff who respond to everything as "awesome" and refer to guests constantly as "you guys" was the only jarring note in an otherwise splendid lunch. We shall be returning soon, and as often as we can.
lovely setting and interior. service was good and staff very attentive. food presented and cooked nicely just lacked flavour for us and some of the dish combination (eg. lamb broth and scallops) just did not work for us.
