North Pole Bar and Grill
We booked the restaurant for New Years Eve 2018 as they advertised a New Years celebration event containing a special meal and celebrations in their club. The advert stated "Dress code is strictly smart, full of glamour so be sure to dress to the nines".
Well when we got there at 8:00 the place was nearly empty. After an hour some more people did arrive so we thought it was just people would be coming late. Unfortunately not many more people arrived so we thought oh dear this is not going to be fun. The worse was the majority of the people could not have read the Strictly smart statement as most were in very casual cloths including one table with 3 gents in jeans and t-shirts. We felt well out of place in an evening dress and suit.
It then got worse. We tried the club downstairs but left quickly as we felt very much out of place.
We left straightway and headed back to Greenwich town and had great fun in the Gypsy Moth pub so the even was not ruined.
On the positive side we would like to say.
The meal was fantastic and so were the staff. We would go back there for a meal.
Probably cannot moan at the place for lack of attendance or the lack of support by the other guest.
Would not recommend for an New Years Eve celebration.
In the end very expensive short lived time at the place
Great night, the food has changed since I last sent there but was not disappointed. The portions were good and the food tasted great. Good value for money and will go again.
While the food and service were really great, and the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere, the music being played was so loud, I could hardly have a conversation with my dinner guest. Please turn down the music in the restaurant as it forces all the patrons to shout over the music. If I wanted to go to a bar, I would have gone to the bar below the restaurant. Thank you.
The music was very loud and had to shout to be heard. Although when requested they did turn the music down. The food was delicious although a little overdone on the spice side. The duck sauce and bread and butter pudding were very spicy.
My boyfriend and I ate here after my daughter bought a three course meal, with Prosecco/Bellini as a gift for me via Groupon.
It never seems easy to book on these vouchers but after a few ‘fine print’ discussions about December availability and no Al a Carte menu on offer....., the table was booked and we arrived at the restaurant.
Another query about the voucher-showing as ‘redeemed’ when clearly not and we were handed our menus, shown the items that we’d need to pay a surcharge on and proceeded to order.
Starters were plentiful and delicious. Prawn and salmon Roulade and salt and chilli squid.
Mains were a little disappointing-after such delicious starters.
The mixed grill meats were all over cooked and dry but with delicious rice, whist my spatchcock chicken was tiny... a real shame because it was flavoursome and perfectly cooked.
Our desserts were yummy!
Chocolate fondant with fruit and ice cream and a vanilla creme brûlée, again with fresh berries.
The prosecco was mediocre but I enjoyed both glasses and my partner had a couple of beers at £4 a pint.
Service was excellent and although our starters took a while to arrive - expected as we were there whilst a works’ Christmas party filled the rest of the upstairs seating area- our waiter was spot on.
We were offered seats downstairs in the nicely decorated and large bar.
We enjoyed ourselves!
Other than being initially very noisy with a baby shower in the adjacent room all good
Staff did not know what the soup of the day was or the ingredients in it. Spatchcock chicken full of bones and well overcooked, very dry. Dishes do not reflect the pictures online.
Wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Only 2 other diners, lacked atmosphere, quite pricey, typical pub menu. Advertised as a piano bar, piano there but no one playing.
A little disappointed with the food and atmosphere. after ordering the trout which came with a little bit of veg underneath, the additional "sides" like other veg, fries etc were £4 each per portion.
As a 'Piano bar" I expected the piano to be playing with a good atmosphere within the restaurant. Sadly not the case. Piano tucked away in a corner, no sign of a pianist and no atmosphere around the restaurant at all.
Had a lovely meal with friends, we had two small children and the restaurant was very accommodating for us. We were able to sit away from the main dining area so as not to bother the other guests.
The restaurant wasn’t as expected. The entrance stairway was dirty and old. The restaurant itself was a mixture of styles that didn’t quite go. The decor was dated and there was no atmosphere. The booths are extremely uncomfortable. The food however was quite good and the staff very friendly. Overall I was disappointed and won’t be going back.
Absolutely superh, great food and great service. Will defnitely vist again.
This was one of the best cooked and best served lunches we have had in this country. We had two great cocktails (very authentic Margherita) two very good starters and Roast Lamb. Portions were exactly right and everything cooked and presented perfectly. The service was absolutely professional and friendly.
However, this was easy for him as, on this Sunday lunchtime, we were the only ones in the restaurant! Two others arrived an hour later, but it is a shame the North Pole's excellence is not being shared by more!
Loved it although the pianist was ill that day.
Good food and excellent service at a very reasonable price. Do not be put off by the lively bar downstairs. The restaurant upstairs offers a quiet and comfortable environment. We will definitely return.
A good and varied menu, delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommended and we will be going back!
A very reasonable restaurant just a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Greenwich.
Fabulous meal with a superb variety to suit all tastes, lovely relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend North Pole Piano Restaurant and hope to return sometime soon.
Excellent food, very quiet which was unusual, service was very good and friendly, and a great bottle of wine with the meal.
lovely cosy and friendly restaurant our waitress was very helpful and friendly would highly recommend this restaurant to all...will be trying the sunday roast next time
No problems - very good choice if menus - nice interior - staff helpful. It was quiet for a Friday evening - we arrived around 7 so was pleased with the ambience and nice atmosphere. The food was very good and they accomdated my request for amendment to a dish with no problems. The portions are very generous.
Had a lovely Father's Day meal very good value smashing food
Second visit just as good as first. Surprising Fine Dining restaurant in Deptford end of Greenwich.
Excellent, lovely surroundings .. very attentive staff, food was fabulous with vegetarian options and a good choice of wines ... we had a lovely time celebrating my husbands birthday, topped off with an unexpected and much appreciated complimentary glass of Prosecco ...
Consistently excellent food, and efficient service. One of Greenwich's hidden culinary gems.
A very quiet night when we dined. Restaurant surprisingly nicely furnished and decorated after climbing the rather shabby staircase. Service was friendly and attentive and food all good.
Had a great Sunday Lunch, food was good, service excellent. We had my 3yr old granddaughter with us and the waiter was really patient and kind to her. Would definitely recommend for a lovely Sunday lunch , near to Greenwich town too!
This is a lovely restaurant hidden above what looks like a fairly basic bar. Please pay it a visit! The food is lovely and it’s exceptional value. Good for anything from a get together with friends to a special occasion.
This beautiful neighbor hood gem has everything a foodie could want - amazing food, fantastic service, gorgeous surroundings and unbelievable crafted cocktails! This is fine dining without the pretensions or price.
The portions here are large and you wont leave hungry. All food was seasoned perfectly and was fresh and presented immaculately. Its Michellin star quality!!! Cocktails are a must order!
B the head waiter is incredibly knowledgeable about the food, drinks and history of the building and surrounding areas, he is a credit to the business and someone I would employ in a second.
We were out for a meal after my husband had run the London Marathon. The food was lovely and the meal was a reasonable price. The waiter was really attentive and get refilling our water glasses. An enjoyable evening out
Poor for vegetarians. Both vegetarian options on the menu contained Parmesan, which is not vegetarian. I specifically requested my pasta without Parmesan on top only for it still to come topped with Parmesan. My companion had then finished their meal by the time my replacement was brought out.
Very average experience...
We really enjoyed our meal. The only issue was it didn’t cater for gluten free. But otherwise the food was excellent every course There was 4 of us and we all said the same. Best meal in ages. Better then some top london places we have been too
We had a lovely 3 course meal at The north pole piano restaurant on Saturday evening. We were able to choose our own seats right beside the pianist who was absoluty outstanding. Food & service was also very good indeed.
Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, enjoyed our meal, friendly.
I booked a table for ten people for a 50th birthday celebration six weeks before the event , on the afternoon of the special occasion I was left a voicemail informing me that my booking had been cancelled due to
the restaurant not opening that evening . To say I was disappointed and frustrated is an understatement. One birthday celebration ruin .
A great evening. Piano music being played nicely in the background.
Food was Amazing!!!
Only negative was we had a long wait between starters and mains but other than that was an amazing night. Will definitely be going back!
The food was delicious and we enjoyed the live piano
The food was over priced and not very tasty. We ordered the vege lasagne which was basically cheese and veg. The fish cakes didn't seem to be freshly made. And the cocktail tasted like fruit juice. Service was great until we had to pay the bill, which took atleast 20 minutes, we eventually paid at the bar. It had good ambience for a date but it was awfully quiet for a Friday evening, eventhough the reviews had boasted a busy atmosphere and that you must reserve tables.
