No. Fifty Cheyne
The ruby-red First-Floor Cocktail Bar & elegant Drawing Room that overlooks Albert Bridge, the River Thames and the charming Cheyne Gardens.
We have booked No Fifty Cheyne for the dinner after Chelsea Flower Show. The restaurant has launched the special Chelsea Flower menu which were happy to try. Beautiful atmosphere and new interior design were very special. Have finished our dinner by sitting in the lounge upstairs with the panoramic view and with champagne kindly presented by the restaurant. Definitely will come back!
This was a first visit to Fifty Cheyne since its metamorphosis from rather a good gastro pub. We went for lunch after a tiring visit to Chelsea Flower Show.
The restaurant is attractive, bright and well laid out. We asked for and got a corner table. Service was professional and charming from an all-male team. We shared a main course of John Dory for two people and a bottle of very potable Gavi di Gavi at an amicable price. A more frugal use of the salt pot would have earned the food five stars.
Its a lovely place for dinner, they also have a nice bar & lounge area at upstairs.
I would put our issues down to teething problems. The decoration and feel is good, in particular the drinks area upstairs I can not fault. Sadly, downstairs the service was confused and slow. Our main course came to us before our starters (an hour after we had arrived).
Maitre D’ kindly discounted our meal so we might go back in six months to see if they have turned things around.
Beautiful food, friendly staff, great atmosphere, would definitely recommend 50 Cheyne to all my friends. Have already book to go again
Always loved Cheyne Brasserie and we feel the restaurant has only improved. We had a fabulous evening , food was divine and our waitor Decio was attentive and outstanding. We liked the new decor and layout . Eating at the bar is a great option. Perhaps the tables could be a little further apart. Cant wait wait to eat there again
Hands down best steak in town
Upstairs bar is nice for a drink afterwards
Second visit here: excellent food and well presented. Attentive service, interesting wine list.
Really salty veg, dry cold mash potatoes, over cooked steak which had to be sent back and meant my boyfriend ate alone whist I watched him. When my steak finally arrived all the sides were stone cold. No attempt to bring anything fresh
The service was so off too. No one poured our wine once the main dishes arrived and none of the waiter staff seemed to be focused on a select few tables. They were all over the place.
Such a shame as the restaurant was recommended to me by a well know chef. Disappointing.
Loved it, very nice staff.
Food was delicious. Lovely decoration
Lovely service, interesting food, beautiful bar at the top
Beautiful new dining room, louche red-lacquer first floor bar with a rear lounge with excellent views on to the river. Food has big bold flavours and staff are charming. One of the best London re-vamps in a long time.
Sadly we were allocated the worst table in the restaurant located behind the entrance.
So happy is back and running! At its best. The renovations are superb and the food was excellent.
Great to find the reopened venue even better than its earlier incarnation. Wonderful cuisine, attentive service, and great ambience.
Fantastic evening. Thank you. We’ll certainly be back again!
Really nice refurb of the place. Service a little slow but friendly. Fantastic food. Very good and well priced wine list.
The courgette soup was delicious and just the right portion size. The asparagus was perfectly grilled.
It was pleasant. But the waitress was trying too hard. Didn’t have great English. She interrupted our conversation twice to ask if everything ok. She should have waited or said excuse me. Only ribeye and sirloin steaks on me u. My husband asked ‘is it possible to get a fillet?’ Her reply ‘yes. Would u like a ribeye Or sirloin ‘!! I asked if any bones in the fish. She said yes to both fish choices. As I was about to choose something else she says ‘no bones. No bones.’. Staff trying too hard to be more experienced than they were. Annoyingly so.
Delicious food and very good professional service. Decor is a little bland with ubiquitous fake cherry blossom.
Great food but desert (Creme Brûlée and the panna cotta) need work. Otherwise a great a place.
I think they have done a great job on the renovations, the food was very good, could do with another choice of beer said one of my dining companions. We were made to feel very welcome, great location and the revamped upstairs bar is a big plus.
We will no doubt go again
Great experience. Food was delicious, nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed a cocktail upstairs in the lounge before dinner.
Sadly disappointed as this has been recommended by a friend who knew the chef so we came with high hopes to celebrate my mother’s birthday.
There were some highs and some lows and some really basic mistakes like 3/6 pieces of bread in the bread basket visibly burnt and wine spilled as it was poured.
Wine list was in the probably the smallest font I have ever seen in a restaurant and really needed a magnifying glass for all but the youngest of eyes at our table.
The biggest low was the catch of the day which was a tuna steak, sold as medium rare but pretty well done and topped with a disaster of sweet fruit chutney and some unidentifiable vegetable overpowered by the chutney and some past their best tomato slices - badly cooked and badly balanced.
The steaks were highs for those that had them while the other fish dishes were pleasant but plain.
Starters were similarly a mixed bag, smoked salmon with warm potatoes was another confused dish with no clear direction and the scallops and squid dish was destabilised by a cheesy champagne sauce.
Dessert wise the posset was a high while the chocolate cake was average and the pear crumble disappointed both of us that had it.
Sadly no gesture to either the celebration (mentioned when I booked and when I arrived) nor to the sent back fish dish when the bill came.
Overall a bit of a disappointing visit and not sure I would recommend at the price point of over £100 a head.
Always loved this place as a brasserie. Lost some of that coziness and prices have gone up by 30/. The worst service I have had in a restaurant in an long time
Beautiful refurb with great atmosphere. Excellent attention from friendly staff, but not overwhelming. Dog friendly so 5 stars there from me. Upstairs cocktail bar and comfy sofas is a big plus!
The food was delicious, like a great book that you want to enjoy but don’t want to finish ...
A few teething problems needing resolved but on its way to be outstanding
Whilst I loved the old bluey Tiffany coloured banquets of cheyne walk Brasserie they have created a truly beautiful decor (clearly someone dropped some doe). Upstairs bar very sexy
Mr Chef clearly knows what he’s doing - food was very good.
The fire alarm went off a couple of time (by mistake I believe) but I’ll give them a mulligan - teething with a new building I guess
We will revisit for sure
Excellent service and staff, very delicious and tasty dishes and wines. Everything was perfect, I recommend to everyone who want to try or like something more and special than the average. Great value for money.
Great local spot with amazing ambiance and staff!!
The service was very good . The food was excellent and especially the Grill menu. The wine list was good and responsibly priced . Very friendly device especially at the bar. Unfortunately the Sommelier was overselling the wine.
Overall very good food and atmosphere and will recommend it to friends.
From the moment we stepped inside the newly renovated No. Fifty Cheyne we were not disappointed. The service was fantastic, the staff were attentive and helpful. It makes such a difference to the whole experience when the staff are jolly and fun without being too intrusive. We look forward to returning for another dining experience soon.....most importantly the food was amazing.
Delighted to have No Fifty Cheyne reopened. Excellent as always!
We had a family lunch for Mother's Day at the new re-opened No. Fifty Cheyne. I have been a regular for the last 15 years and was not disappointed! The new layout is modern and airy while maintaining the unique atmosphere of the restaurant, the food from the new menu was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Bravo!
Same lovely venue, pretty similar and very nice food, excellent service. Not sure why they needed to change it. Decor still very pleasant but far less distinctive. Just inoffensive style rather than the old stand out distinctiveness. Silly new name. What was wrong with the old one? Music improved albeit 10% too loud. Excellent evening and there will be many more.
They’ve done a great job on the refurb. Lovely atmosphere, service a bit slow at times but to be expected on soft launch. The food was amazing, especially the Lamb Rump and chocolate fondant dessert. Highly recommended.
Fabulous meal and superb service! Thoroughly recommend. The restaurant has just been refurbished and creates a relaxed and enjoyable ambiance. Great that they have kept the open grill which is such a good feature. The new menu is excellent - one of the best meals I have had in London!
Not quite . The food is OK and may not be worth the value if you pay full price. We were there for the soft launch. The only thing I would recommend about the place is the ambiance. Definitely have the wow factor but the food is way too pricey for its value. The waiters need to be better trained to ensure they serve properly. Won't go there again
