Numero 28 Pizzeria Napoletana - East Village
Service was atrocious, we had an 8:00 PM Open Table reservation and they kept seating other parties while them claimed our table was getting ready. They were seating people who might have been regulars but it was hard to say as the place was loud, and the hostess had limited English skill Once we were seated it took twenty minutes for the waitress to appear, and then another twenty five minutes to get our appetizers, which were fried calamari, a rice ball and the meat ball. There after the two large pies we ordered (Large being two pizza's each feeding two people as we were a party of four) This took another half hour after our appetizers and when they arrived they were basically flavorless. Surprising because one was their "diavola" and the other was the Calabrese, and they should have both been flavorful given the ingredients. Unfortunately there were not, politely declined dessert and ran out as fast as we could to Venerio's around the corner for dessert. Very disappointed, not returning, so many better options in the area, starting with Joe and Pats on first Avenue and East 10th Street and Sauce down the block. Expected so much more from Numero 28 and it really disappointed.
The pizza is really the best there is — so fresh and crispy and flavorful and saucy in all the right ways. Love it !
Feels very Italian and authentic. Deeply appreciate .
Never disappointed! The pizza is always cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly.
Always a great time. Pizza, pasta and appetizers are amazing.
Love, Love, Love this place! Best pizza around! I have never had a bad meal here! Wait staff friendly and accommodating. Drinks are great. This is my favorite place to eat pizza!
Excelente pizza excelentes ingredientes
Solo que no aceptan tarjeta de crédito
We were overcharged and when trying to fix the issue, we were ignored by the waitress and other staff. It was very disappointing and frustrating.
We had a party for 9 12 year olds and the staff was so accommodating and nice! Food is excellent as usual! An east Village gem!
Very nice (ambiance) place for this neighborhood. I was with kids (age 12-13) though and menu not as simple as it could be for a place serving pizzas. Pricey for what was served as well, but it was tasty. I would go here again with friends, but not with kids.
Amazing food, table was ready when we arrived, friendly staff
Amazing duo pizza, we ordered the truffle and parmaham, both sides were wonderful, price wise also very reasonable. Service and ambience are authentic Italian, will definitely return!
Very nice restaurant with delicious pizza and Italian food. Andrea will make you feel like at home!
Excellent food. Terrific service. The pizza was outstanding! I highly recommend and would definitely go back. My only issue was that it is a CASH ONLY restaurant! That's fine, however there was no mention of this on Open Table (at least none that I saw) and I was not prepared for that. I had to leave my guests to go to the bank and withdraw money because I was paying the check. So, just come with plenty of cash and enjoy!
Had my birthday dinner at Numero 28 with a large group of friends. Ordered from the prefix menu and what an amazing deal! The most helpful, patient, attentive staff and the greatest pizza. Delicious an overall amazing dining experience!! One of my favorite restaurants in the East Village - would highly recommend!!
Excellent food... excellent service!
We'll be back!
Amazing pizza and cocktails. Wait staff is great. Great food!
get place because it’s BYOWine. food is always excellent and abundant.
Great time, great atmosphere. Pretty loud, but a good place to eat on a Friday/Saturday before going out
This the best pizza I have ever eaten. The wait staff is very friendly along with the bartender. I have also eaten their pasta and it is very good. We have been going to Numero 28 for years! Anyone I have ever brought there has loved the pizza.
Pizza was GREAT!! As was the wine. The appetizers were quite expensive and skimpy. Aside from that a nice experience.
Great pizza and Great food! Wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Ask for recommendations. Worth the wait and the drive front New Jersey. Great Cocktails! I love this place!,,
Great moment to share with a friend. Pizza with truffle very good appetizer as well, cute place and simple food but efficient. the waiters were Italian and very kind and pleasant.
We came for my Daughters birthday. The staff was so friendly and played a happy birthday song with the best Nutella pie. Love this place!
We really enjoyed dinner here! Great food and staff. Fun atmosphere. We celebrated a birthday and the staff did a really great celebration! We’ll be back!
Pizza sempre buona e personale gentilissimo
Unica nota negativa: si paga solo in contanti
Went here because I saw they have gluten free options- they were just as soon as their regular pizza which was great! My husband had regular pizza and loved it. Great warm inviting place.
My roommates and I went for dinner one night and brought 2 bottles of wine. with us for BYOB. The food was AMAZING and probably one of the best dinners we have had in a while in NYC. We keep raving about it and want to try the one on the UES as it is by our apartment. HUGE FANS LIKE HUGE!
Amazingly mediocre. Food did not arrive hot. Every drink and every dish arrived separately for a party of 6 where there were perhaps 2 other customers. Its most important feature: it is across the street from a good movie house.
The pizza is excellent!!
Great service. Tasty food. Small venue and the air conditioner wasn’t too strong and with doors closed, it can get loud in there. It’s a cash only place which is inconvenient. But I think you can BYOB. It’s worth a visit overall.
The food is always good. The spicy shrimp appetizer is fabulous. The pizza is always excellent. We go there all the time. It is one of our go to places. The wait staff is always courteous and attentive.
Numero 28 has outstanding pizza. Thin crust with a very nice char.
Amazing pizza and atmosphere.
The staff is also the best!
Numero 28 is one of the best pizzas in NYC. Never disappoints.!
Pizza was almost room temperature though packed with flavors. Service was bad. I always have issues with places where bartenders also act as the server in the dining room. You’ll get ignored most of the time or they make you feel rushed when you talk to them. Server never checked on us til the end of the meal and never offered another round of drinks.
We have eaten here many times. The food is delicious. The spicy grilled shrimp and fried calamari appetizer are amazing. All of their pizza's are delicious. The wait staff is considerate and knowledgeable. We will continue to go here regularly.
Staff was very rude and we were rushed to order our food and then waited a very long time for food. Their priorities seemed to be somewhere else and not on service.
Honestly, the pizza makes a visit worth it no matter what else I think, but will share my experience. I went with my family who was visiting from out of town. After we were seated about 4 other pairs/groups came in after us. They ALL got their food before us - I think we waited about 45 minutes for our food and it was an off hour (post-lunch, pre-dinner). I think we were forgotten about which could make it a fluke situation vs. a reputation of the place. Still sucked because we were all starving and they didn't offer any make-good. pizza was insanely good though!
