amazing service, cosy venue, really tasty italian food
Enjoyed a lovely pre theatre meal. Food and wine were delicious, will be back to try some more. Staff were friendly and attentive. A great find.
Beautiful fresh and tasty food. One of the best Italian restaurants i have been to.
Amazing food, friendly staff
Only downsize is chairs are not great for those on bigger size
Wonderful, authentic Italian food. Staff clearly care about the food and everyone’s experience. Reasonably priced especially given quality and location.
Lovely candlelit dining space. We really loved the pasta dishes.
Best food best service best vibe! Fair price. Definitely recommended to everyone
Staff were lovely and ambience was so nice! Restaurant is clean and beautifully done in a nice area but the food really let it down sadly. My sister enjoyed her pizza but for myself and my mum we ordered two pizzas with additional toppings. My mums came up too burnt to eat the first time and should never have really been served as it made it awkward to say it needed recooking. Then once she got hers both of ours was very salty and doused in oil making the middle really soggy. The tomato sauce was limited and really it was a shame as the flavours if it had more sauce and less oil would have been good. We asked for garlic bread and it came as bread with garlic pieces in the bottom (though the balsamic with this was lovely!) and the bruschetta bread though me and my sister enjoyed my mum didn't eat as quite rightly it was also very salty. For the prices it is not quite as good as the cheaper pizza I ate from a proper Italian the day before. Such a shame as such a lovely place. Staff sorted this out and deducted from the bill which was really kind of them and all very attentive!
Amazing food and service
Food was really poor. Cold starter (melanzane) and deep fried lumps of cheese (street food). Then the worst part being two undercooked, runny doughy pizzas. Such a shame as this was a birthday treat.
Very good. Will come back!
Enjoyed the good food, and the ambience
Flavours were good, pizza was a little undercooked for my liking. Gnocchi was tasteless, bland and abit boring, especially for the price, have done better at home.
Staff started putting chairs up before a few tables had finished eating. A lot of the staff moving around not doing much, don’t believe the hype. Overpriced and not worth the hassle of going.
Fantastic food, beautiful ambience & wonderful service - highly recommended
Speedy and welcoming service from all the staff. Would certainly re visit
The calamari was greasy, the pasta dish wasn’t cooked (hard inside, so not even fresh pasta- how hard is that?) and too salty and a pizza which was ok cost £17. The coffee was nice, the waiters aftershave overpowering. If you only have to cook pasta and pizza, it’s hard to fathom how you can mess it up so badly.
Best pizza in Mayfair
This was a special occasion with my girlfriend.
The starter was great as we chose random options of Neapolitan dishes, which was excellent.
However the main was really disappointing with the pizza being quite burnt around the crust area and the centre area being very raw.
The crust was gigantic for the size of the pizza.
There were not many options for pasta dishes, which were the main reasons we attended this restaurant.
The seating areas were too narrow, meaning we were uncomfortably close to the adjacent customers, who were eavesdropping on our conversation!
Overall, a bit disappointing, and standards were not met for the prize charged.
Would not go again.
Excellent service and friendly staff. Main course was delicious and the wine was excellent. The tiramasu was pleasant but overly creamy which was slightly disappointing. Restaurant is in a good location for visiting theatres and tucked away off the main roads so slightly quieter. Enjoyed our meal.
The food itself was delicious, with clearly high-quality ingredients. The staff were attentive and quick to respond. The only downside was that it was overpriced, which can be expected for central London.
Food ok, but overpriced… staff and ambiance good but would not recommend as v poor value
Innovative menu, excellent cocktails (esp. Negronis), very friendly welcome and service. Looking forward to dining at O Ver St. James again.
Nice location. Service was okay. Not value for money.
Lovely restaurant , real Italian feel, would recommend
Lovely staff and service, food was very good just on the expensive side.
We had a lovely pre-theatre meal on the terrace. Service was 5* - originally seated outside but they moved us outside on request with no fuss. Delicious pizza, great Sauvignon blanc, table of 4 was less than £30pp for pizza and wine in a great setting. Would recommend!
Great food and beautiful restaurant. Portions are a little smaller than expected, but delicious. The restaurant is pretty but music inside is pretty loud. Our waiter got our order wrong a couple of times, but friendly nonetheless.
I love the pizzas that are usually in the menu and was v disappointed to find out that despite still being on the online menu they were not on offer due to the oven not functioning. I would have appreciated a note on the website particularly given it was not something that happened at the time we were there but an issue they were aware of
Very nice place and good food and service. Overpriced though. We came for a pizza but there were none on the menu and it didn't state if you could order sides - chips etc or more vegetables. But apart from that would return when pizza back on the menu
Really lovely waiters, amazing atmosphere on a nice quiet street. Food tasted great, it’s good value for money. Good portion size too.
Food was outstanding. Staff was very nice however the service was rather slow, we were told we had the table for 1 hour 30 minutes. Took a while to order so by the time we were served the main we only had 20 minutes left.
Had a dinner for two, pre theatre, inside. It was great - super friendly and nice staff, delicious food, shame there were not more people - definitely will go back.
Best pizza in London. I go there every week. Waiters are very professional
A bit pricey
Family Saturday dinner. Excellent food - nice atmosphere.
Few challenges with Covid restrictions and table setting. We were asked to move table before the mains arrived but staff were very apologetic about it and it wasn’t a big problem for us.
The menu portrays something new and different from other Italian restaurants sadly the food was mediocre at best
Pizza looked great but was just too thick and doughy and the special pasta of the day sounded fabulous but was thick, heavy and just really disappointing
Saving grace was the cocktail we had, very nice
Overall, expensive for poor quality Italian food
Service and staff were very good though
Sadly not worth a return visit
Always great food and outstanding service!
Really lovely meal tonight. Felt safe with social distancing, qr code menus and staff wearing masks. Food was tasty and interesting and was pretty good value. Service was very good (I think our server was new).
Had a lunchtime get together here. Informal but service and food was excellent. Pasta and pizza were both fresh and deliciously tasty.
We ate at O Ver on a Friday lunchtime during the heat wave so the restaurant was very quiet. The food was excellent, with some interesting choices on the menu. The involtini starter was one of the best I have ever had. The service was friendly and efficient and all staff were wearing masks. The location is excellent, on a quiet alleyway off the Haymarket, with plenty of outdoor seating. The only downside is the wine list, which is quite expensive, although the house white we had was great. Will definitely eat here again, though hopefully in cooler weather.
This was my first trip to the St James venue, excellent service, would recommend.
