Excellent service and outstanding food!
Very nice evening! Glad to see so many of the staff returning.
There are quite a few good restaurants in Old Town and a wide selection of cuisines. Oak happens to be my favorite. Hands down, I’d say it’s the best. Here’s why:
1. The food is terrific and fresh
2. The staff pays attention to details and they treat you like your patronage means something - because it does
3. The atmosphere is nice and the place is super clean
Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but I’d rather drop a $100 for a perfectly cooked meal with all the fixings than $75 somewhere else that’s just ok.
Keep up the great work!!! I will be back!
Keep up the good work!!’ I will be back!
If this place was on King Street you wouldn’t be able to get a table. It’s well worth the 10 minute walk.
This was our first attempt at dining out since the COVID-19 pandemic, so we were a bit apprehensive. We did have the opportunity to sit outside, so I was glad about that. The wait staff were very professional, following all necessary guidlelines and minimizing time at the table. The food was phenomenal, steal (filet mignon) was cooked perfectly and was so tender it barely needed a knife. The fried baked potao and roasted brussel sprouts were also delicious. I am happy to see Oak Steakhouse back and will likely return again for a special occasion.
Excellent evening we felt very safe and service and meals were perfect
This reliably outstanding restaurant had the added plus of being pleasantly quiet due to seating restrictions. The service was smooth and well paced. We had an excellent anniversary celebration in terms of food, service and ambiance.
They take your temp before seating you. I loath this invasion of my privacy, but I also want a steak in steakhouse. The menu choices are few, which is understandable - restaurants are hit hard by the Chinese virus...so, no raw bar and out of many items like spinach (for real). Don’t look at on-line menus and expect that when you arrive.
The service & steaks are awesome! No complaints.
The noise level is obnoxiously loud.
In reality...it’s the only steakhouse in Old Town.
Best steaks in DMV! Superior service!
Awesome, great service!
Great atmosphere, food and service! Definitely worth it!
It’s a little louder sitting outside because there’s a fair amount of traffic going by (not awful, though). Otherwise, this was a really wonderful experience. Perfectly cooked steak, knowledgeable and helpful staff, excellent side choices. We will definitely be back!
Excellent service and meal. A little pricey but it’s the only steakhouse in town so that’s their game
The one thing that tells me it was a great experience is that right after I leave I cant wait to get back. Overall, very good service, excellent food and a great wine recommendation. And a really nice interior and layout too!
Wonderful cocktails and delicious food! My husband and I enjoyed ourselves.
As usual, the food was great. Oak has done a great job re-opening since the pandemic. Looking forward to going back.
Lee is a fabulous server
We had much higher expectations from the prices we were changed on this restaurant, but unfortunately the quality on the food wasn’t there.
Steak was over-seasoned and burnt same with the crab cake .
Restaurant charge for the fresh baked bread, but it was very plain .
Sides were ok .
Cocktails I ordered was very good, especially the one with ginger and vodka.
Our server was very nice and accommodating but he is not responsible from what is coming out from the kitchen stove. We ate because we were tired and hungry but
After $180 with the tip , I can say it wasn’t worth it.
I don’t think we would be going back there.
I had chosen this restaurant because my two guests from D.C. had never been and prior to COVID-19 I had been to this place at least once a week for business or personal dinners with exceptional service, food and ambiance.
Post COVID-19 my guests arrived before I did and the hostess sat them in the closed in larger room where there use to be a long table and chairs for larger gatherings. So to accommodate social distancing measures they moved smaller tables into this area.
I didn’t like the seating area nor where we were seated. The most annoying factor was right behind us was the restaurants new carry out area with table and orders waiting to be picked. An employee was at the table taking orders and people would walk in through a door marked for carry out all of which we could all hear. Talk about an ambiance killer.
When I asked the hostess to change table she became annoyed. Started telling me about the social distancing protocols like I am not an informed individual. I told her my reservations was at 5:30 and there were other tables still open in the open dining room.
After much hassle as I wanted my table changed and rejected the the table she offered closest to the door she finally said what table do you want. So I chosen new table to give my guests a better ambiance.
With that said the food was very good and our waiter was terrific. But, my experience with our seating and hostess left a not so good impression. I will be leaving this place off my list for now. As a consumer we always have other options.
Excellent job with Covid-19 protocols. Lee was wonderful server. Food was really outstanding.
I sat outside on the patio. It was amazing! The restaurant made me feel safe that they were following all of the new COVID protection measures. My server Alyssa was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The ribeye is by far the best ribeye you will find in Old Town. The new eggplant side is amazing! It was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. I enjoyed a glass of rose with my meal. I met the manager Zack. He was very professional and engaged in the service! I can’t wait to go back for another amazing meal. Bring friends so you can share the sides to taste them all!!
What a perfect re-entry into dining out.
The food was amazing and the wait staff superb!!!
We absolutely love Oak! We opted for the patio this time around given that it was our first time eating out for dinner with our 10 month old and he can be pretty noisy. We had a limited menu given that it was only the 2nd day back for in-restaurant dining and the restaurant has only been doing patio dining for two weeks. Everything was fantastic, service was on-point (thanks Luke!) and we love that they take such great care of their patrons. We'll be back!
An outstanding addition to the Old Town dining scene. Very flavorful amd well prepared steaks. The crispy (fried) brussels sprouts were amazing!
Hello, Thank you for the 5 stars and supporting us. I'm so glad you enjoyed the steaks and brussels. Dom
Everything was excellent! Steaks were out of this world!
Hi Jonathan, Glad you loved the steaks. Thanks for visiting, see you soon. Dom
Food and service was excellent, thanks Lee! It was nice to be out in civilization again.
Hi Andy, Thank you so much for the support and 5 stars. I'll pass this along to Lee as well. See you again, Dom
Everything was great. My wife and I went together for our anniversary in early June and it was super easy - a hostess greeted us and brought us to our table, all outside. We were the only ones there and our server Lee was awesome. Food was delicious and about as pricey as expected. Can't wait to go back.
Hello Mike, Thank you for the support and 5 stars. I'm so glad Lee provided you with great service as well. I'll be sure to pass this along. Dom
We frequent Oak Steakhouse - and each time, our steak is tender and delicious. The service is outstanding and the wait staff and chefs are very accommodating and friendly.
Hi Theresa, Thank you for being a regular diner of ours and the 5 stars. I'll be sure to share this with the team. Dom
Had the best server ever. Super attentive. Food was good but a little pricey especially the cocktails.
It is a very good steakhouse, not remarkable but very good. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The ambiance is pleasant.
The food was delicious, and they prepared our steaks exactly as we wanted them. Our waiter was fabulous! It was a great place for our birthday celebration. Just know when you go that the check will be a hefty one!
Overall the experience was wondering, from food to service to ambiance. We dined here for the first time for our anniversary and we are so glad we did.
We went to celebrate our anniversary, and they made specific efforts to make it memorable. Our server was Caitlin and she was absolutely phenomenal. The best service we’ve received in a long time, accompanied by excellent, delicious food. We look forward to returning soon.
I don’t think they have enough people to manage the crowd there on a Saturday night. It took forever to bring our drinks. They got the order wrong. Then it took a long time to get our food. The food was not that great especially for the price. It was so little and not fresh out the oven. Again I think the management of the food service needs adjustments. The drinks were excellent and the yeast bread superb. That’s it. Prob won’t go back for dinner. Drinks yes.
Amazing service by Michael. Food was exceptional!
Lovely time! Delicious food and great service. Love that they are so accommodating when wanting to split/share meals
Decided to try a new steakhouse for dinner with friends. Was there excited to have the 36 oz porterhouse for two. Unfortunately, they were out of all their porterhouse steaks. The special for the evening however, was a 40 oz wagyu ribeye cowboy steak for $20 more than the porterhouse. Yes please!!! Ordered it medium rare with the black truffle butter. DROOL... We also ordered the bone marrow as our apps. May have been the best roasted bone marrow I've ever had due to the added yummies it came with. The homemade bread was delicious as was the sundae I had for dessert. Oh - and they know how to make drinks. Was definitely a PRICEY night, but overall, we all enjoyed our meal and the evening. I'd go back again to celebrate another special event.
Overall we had a nice experience. Initially when we arrived, we showed up about 15 minutes before our reservation time and we were told by the seating hostess that we couldn’t be seated until our time - which usually I would understand except for this instance because the restaurant wasn’t busy at all and there were multiple open tables. People walking in were seated before us. So I don’t understand that and I was really irritated by that.
The outer facade of the restaurant is all glass windows, which is very nice except for at night when the very bright fluorescent street lights shine in and it really took away from the overall ambience of the restaurant - we ended up having to ask the staff to lower the shades because the street lights were really just too bright.
The food was excellent - although I don’t think it quite matched the prices that were listed. The drinks were exceptional. The steaks were a bit lackluster which is a shame given what we paid for them and the fact that this is a steakhouse. We ordered the Waygu NY strip and the 14 oz. NY strip and the Waygu steak was more tough than the regular NY steak which shouldn’t have been the case.
We might come back, depending on the situations, but we’re definitely going to try other steakhouses first. It wasn’t worth $234 and an hour drive.
