Oceanaire Seafood Room - DC
The food was delicious, service was great but the noice from the bar was extremely loud. Restaurant was very expensive
My wife and I went for my birthday and everything was great however, I thought the food for that price just didn't blow me away. Presentation was great but when I go back Fruits of the Sea and Lobster won't be the items I'd choose. To be fair Fruits of the Sea scallops were cooked perfect the prawn was to rubbery for my taste (as well as certain pieces of the Lobster) flavors were good just, texture just wasn't what I expected. Having said that I would return but again would try something different.
These days its difficult to set yourself apart. With so many seafood restaurant options, a great seafood restaurant for me is judged by the special dish that I can't get every where or makes at home. The halibut with jerk seasoning and mango salsa was a great start, though the halibut was cooked a bit too long and didn't have the delicate texture I treasure in halibut. Cocktail selection is excellent, and I would term this restaurant a good one to take clients as you "won't go wrong" Just don't expect it to be the upper tier, especially if you are coming in from the West Coast
Great service and food
Very good food and professional service. A little pricey. Bill was $233 for two. We had two drinks, one side of asparagus, and shared our entree and our desert.
Having to listen to a five minute pitch to become a "member" of the restaurant's food group near the end of our meal was a major negative. It's hard to believe that the corporation that runs this place thinks that's a good idea.
Great food and great service. They made our anniversary dinner very special.
I would recommend Oceanaire to a friend but warn them that it is pricey. While the food and service is outstanding, I am unsure if it is worth the cost. The prices are a bit out of line.
Wonderful experience. Nelson was the best waiter. Highly recommend going.
Good for Business lunch meetings and after work cocktails
Our waiter was outstanding! The meals were excellent!
The food was great! We went for restaurant week and ordered the 3-course special. My only “complaint” is that the restaurant is very dark. We were in on a Monday at 7pm.
Best crab cakes ever!!!!!
Really wanted to try this place. Walked into a very empty restaurant and was taken by host to worst table in the place, right by serving station in back of restaurant. They did change table at our request. They knew we were celebrating two special events that night and still the worst table?? Server was nice but food outrageously expensive for quality. Not worth it in my opinion with so many other great options in the area.
The pre-fixe July special is a phenomenal value. The restaurant doesn’t scrimp on quality or service. Or server, Minor was attentive and well-versed on the menu items. The spicy firecracker shrimp is not to be missed if you can handle the heat. The shrimp scampi was ok but the blue cheese tenderloin was amazing. The white chocolate covered cheesecake is rich and yummy.
The ambiance is nice and cozy for a date with low lights and cool chandeliers. The table setting is minimal but standard for upscale seafood restaurant in DC. There was a nice selection of oysters on the raw bar not included with special and worth the splurge.
I’d definitely recommend and return.
Swordfish, Halibut and the chefs fish of the day were all great.
Enjoyed our evening.
Great food, cool dining room and very good staff. The food was excellent, Great wine list and overall menu. Definitely the best restaurant we visited while in DC.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely go again.
Every time we visit the Oceanaire in DC is a great experience and this time was no exception. We had a group of 7 dining for dinner and from the service to the food everything was excellent. We'll always make this a stop when in DC.
Came for the first week of July special dinner. Food was plentiful, wine tasty, and service attentive. The daily special, barramundi with jerk seasoning, was especially delicious. When we departed, they recommended we keep an eye out for their lobster special.
We went for the 4th of July special - as always they did not provide the special menu. We had to ask for it. They shouldn't advertise a special and not provide the menu - almost like they want to embarrass you when you have to ask for it. It just seems unprofessional.
Our dinner was fantastic! We’re coming back tomorrow night again and we are just visiting here and chose to come back for your dinner for two special.
Always a favorite when visiting D.C. Outstanding seafood and excellent service.
Great food, outstanding service my wife and I celebrated our anniversary and it was a n amazing experience. I would highly recommend Oceanaire.
Took my best friend for her birthday - lunch was absolutely delicious, including the Oceannaire hash browns which are worth the trip. It was a birthday lunch so the restaurant treated us to a baked alaska for dessert - she was delighted and surprised and they included a scroll with the menu on it and birthday wishes - a great place for a celebration or anything else. I had the days special which was Chilean sea bass with lump crab meat on top - wonderful! Looking forward to another visit!
The Food was Great the service was great and the environment was wonderful
Staple every year when we come to DC.
Crabcales were bland but the key lime pie was delish!
Another wonderful time at Oceanaire. Today I had the shrimp and grits with a crab cake. I must say, the seafood Chopped salad is my favorite. Will have to try something else next time.
I was alone and the waiter suggested me to order more for one person can consume, a thoughtless super size! I am totally disgusted with the waste of food and money. Very disappointing.
Rob and his fellow servers provided a perfect evening to celebrate our anniversary! Tremendous food in a quiet and stylish setting!
I was wondering if the recipe for the New England clam chowder was changed recently, because even though I have had it many many times at your restaurant, and loved it, there is something about the taste in the flavoring this time that was a little bit off to me. The clams were certainly fresh, but I think it has to do something with the spices and flavorings used.
Great, Brian took very good care of us. Staff friendly, food was super.
Everything was wonderful. The service was great. The food was delicious; just a little pricey.
I went to Oceanaire with some colleagues, in order to celebrate a birthday. The server was amazing and so was the food. I had the Seafood Chopped Salad and New England Clam Chowder. After we ate, the server brought out a Baked Alaska. Everything was very special and the birthday girl is ready to go back again.
Everything was very good. The sole detractor was the quality of the creme brulee - it was a major disappointment!
Overpriced, go out a lot to fine places, and though fish is quality, $40-70 for an entree, please!
Outstanding evening and superb service. Loved the restaurant and the food was beyond delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the service was exceptional!
Always a favorite. Has gotten a bit pricey over the years. However, the food is good and wonderful service. Great cocktails!
We had a great experience—great food, service, ambiance—until we were shoved a rewards pamphlet in the face near the end of our meal. Seeing as we said in our reservation that it was a birthday and it was obviously a family event, not a business outing, our experience was truly dulled. Just saying once that we weren’t interested wasn’t enough also, we were again shoved in the face with it upon departure. Great food and experience, dulled at the end.
Great food and service but too noisy for my taste.
