This was a perfect way to wrap up my birthday weekend celebration. Wonderful place and definitely will return!
Great service, food was excellent, enjoyed the variety at lunch .
Wait staff needs to be able to communicate special orders to customers better so as to not incur unexpected costs.
Wow I am always in Oceanaire this night I had to be one of the worst nights the kitchen has had in a very very long time. Not only was our food so late coming out but the fried rice was so oily and salty I could not eat it. The crabcakes were just not good. The service was just not what I expect coming from a five-star restaurant. And I’m here often but only at the bar!
If a manager by the name of James is there when you go, leave and go another night. He’s extremely unprofessional and has no couth, professional, or respect for the patrons when they have issues
Shantell was great!!! Waited on 16 people by herself with a smile. Food came out cold no drawn butter for anyone's lobster... One small bottle of hot sauce with 3 dozen oysters and 16 people. No horseradish!!! Drinks took forever. Book to your staffing capabilities.
Food was great just came out 55 minutes later. The food was warm and not hot as expected. Server was great and gave good recommendations.
The food was good the service was a little slow but they charge me for bread and two dollars to blackened fish a little disappointed in that
Our server, Diana, was excellent. Very helpful and accommodating, and took good care of us. As usual, the food was top tier.
We had reservations and it took us 45 mins to be seated. When some of the food came out, it was cold and we ask for things twice that we never received, so then we just said forget about it. I will not be going back.
I had high expectations for this place I visited this same restaurant in Atlanta and it was amazing. This DC location was horrible! I really hate to leave a bad review but it was really disappointing to receive the horrible service that we received. The waitress was fine it was definitely the kitchen and other staff. Lack of communication. Staff needs to do better! Our birthday celebration was ruined.
I love this place it was my birthday I would definitely do it again I had the swordfish it was perfect
Great food, ambience and service. Kitchen was short staffed so it took a bit longer but food was hot and delicious and waitstaff worked hard to make up for slower delivery of dinner. Overall great place and meal!
The food was outstanding, the ambience was nice, and the wait staff were friendly. Unfortunately, the kitchen was apparently short-staffed and it took a long time for our entrees to come. I would return again but hope that the service is a little quicker.
Chicken fried lobster tail was INCREDIBLE!!!
Excellent food and service. Good ambience. Nice place to go for a special meal.
This restaurant is very clean and very quiet
It's a bit pricey. But the quality of the seafood was excellent. Very fresh and delicious seafood. Will come back.
Waiter must be a car salesman during the day as he was very pushy and kept coming back to our table and asking for what we wanted - very annoying.
$48 dollars for 4 small diver scallops? C’mon Tillman - you got to be better than that?
Bread - was so hard I could have thrown it through a glass window and it would have shattered.
Not bad bill at only $220 for 2 people. Last time I’m going to this restaurant.
Good food and excellent service. Attentive but not intrusive. Sommelier had good suggestions for wine based on our preferences.
Took forever to get drinks and one of the three was made wrong, had to send back
Fish was served raw. Sent it back. And then I still had to pay for it. They comped a drink is all. I didn’t complain because I was with clients.
Mashed potatoes were cold and hard
Brussel sprouts were cold and hard
It was loud and too dark
I will not be returning
Spent wayyyy too much money for a meal that was worse than anything I could make myself.
Both the food and service were excellent. Only complaint is that we were offered an off-menu platter of appetizers (to save time for our pre-theater group) and a chef's special, each of which was priced about $10 a person more than most everything else similar on the menu, without being advised that by the waiter, which made for an unexpectedly high bill from a restaurant whose prices are already pretty steep. Left feeling somewhat cheated. Also, not a complaint, but as someone who is not a big eater, I found portion sizes to be small to moderate.
A couple of minor service glitches, perhaps owing to being short staffed?(Our server seemed to be covering a large area).
Omg , very amazing experience for my mom birthday great food nothing but 5 stars
The ambiance was nice, most of the food was food. The waiter seemed a bit rushed and could have been more attentive. The person in the party who ate the bread did not like it. The bottle of wine that was recommended was not great, the premium drinks were excellent. We ordered three entrees, the lobster fried rice was great, the shellfish entree was great and the seared tuna was good.
Celebrating my good friend’s birthday. We dine here at least twice a year to treat ourselves. On this occasion, the staff was outstanding!! From the moment we walked in the door and throughout our visit EVERYONE was very friendly and attentive. She had a great birthday experience - thank you!!
The food was excellent. The wait time was horrible. My reservation was 8:30 pm but was seated at 9:45 pm. It was my birthday and we didn’t finish until Midnight. I understand the COVID effect. They were swamped. It seemed like there were 10 birthday celebrations while we were there. We did receive items too make up for the long wait which was a great jester. I plan to comeback but later in the future.
Was seated 30min after scheduled reservation. Food was too salty. Waitress was overloaded but still would have at least liked some water to start lol Not asking for much, but for the price there are expectations
Moms 50th birthday. Although there were some complications in the beginning- they made it up. We all had a great time, thank you! Also special thank you to the manager that was working the night of 10/2. She is simply amazing. And also to the staff members. One that stood out was the host, funny guy!
Wow….. where do I start? Totally awful experience. 50min to get a glass of wine…apps were overlooked, and came out after the Entrees. Server was very apologetic but offer no comps despite acknowledging the issues. Crazy bad experience.
Awesome Place and Awesome People
Celebrating a birthday and was such a disappointment. Mediocre food drenched in butter and a terrible baked Alaska. Cannot understand the rave reviews!
Celebration of a 50th Birthday!!
Our waiter was very attentive. The food was delightful and the staff was very friendly! Overall, this was a good dining experience.
Crab cakes were just warm like they were sitting for a while. Still good but would have been better if we received them while they were still hot. Waitress was a lil forgetful.
Went for a friend’s birthday. I am a regular at Oceanaire in DC and Baltimore, and my guests are always blown away by everything. Nelson is always amazing, and my guests are still boasting about the amazing experience!
On September 25th we went out to eat for our 5 year anniversary and our waitress did an amazing job making sure we were taken care of. She did an amazing job and I am so sad I don’t remember her name, it was her first night alone on the floor she said!
The hostess or whoever sits ppl was very condescending in her approach. Half of the party was present and she wasn’t nice in her demeanor . I don’t get the point of not seating ppl especially when we have the table reserved . It was for a birthday and she ruined it with her nasty attitude. Even when she finally sat us , she wasn’t polite when we said thank you. The server Giovanni was okay , I think he needs to know that if someone is requesting to cancel an order , he should not tell them he can’t because the order was already placed . It was a to go order and it was strange to get that kind of response . The lobster fried rice dint taste good .. seemed like half was cooked and the other part was not. No one enjoyed it in my party . Service was a little slow . The cheque took forever to come . The only highlight of the place in my opinion was the ambience and the manager who was very courteous and granted a favor. I spoke highly of the restaurant before but on this occasion it was definitely 3 stars . Also they did not have salmon ..: which was really what a lot of my guests wanted to eat. Hopefully if I venture here ever again , I will have a more positive feedback
