Food was delicious and beautifully presented. The waiters were very friendly and the service was quick.
The freshness of the sushi really hits you and ignites your taste buds. Then the presentation tops it off - so luxurious.

OKO is excellent and something ‘just a bit different’. The food was superb, our waitress (blonde lady) was amazingly efficient & helpful. We visited on Saturday and had our 2 granddaughters (aged early 20’s) with us as we were celebrating her 21st Birthday, they absolutely loved it. The waitress had arranged a special dessert with a Sparkler on top which helped to make the evening even more special - thank you!

We went out for my birthday had a food table booked unfortunately for me my friends where over an hour late and whilst waiting one of the managers named Athina was extremely rude, honestly her attitude stinks and she should really think about how she talks to customers. After sitting and waiting with 1 of of my friends whist the rest of the guests hadn’t turned up yet,one of the managers said that the kitchen would be closing and so I asked to order just the two of us and the manager said she’d get a waiter to come take our order and nobody did. 20 minutes later our other party guests arrived and finally a waiter came to take our order and when we said about food we were told the kitchen was closed.
The manager then came back over and lied and said I’d told her that I’d we had already ordered food. I was just so annoyed because I’d spoken to her like 3 times and apologised that my other guests were late and that I was happy to just order for the two of us that were there. Completely ruined my night I just payed the drink bill and left.
It was such a shame because I was just so let down by my friends being late and then the service that I’d gotten from the staff just wasn’t what it normally was. Very disappointed
Hi Shea, Unfortunately we are a low capacity restaurant with added restrictions with Covid, it says when booking we dont accept tables that are later than 15 minutes. We possibly couldn't take any food orders after 10.30pm when our kitchen closes, when a group was over an hour late. We apologise for the rude behaviour you experienced from a member of staff, they have been spoken to. We value ourselves on service, and aim for all our guests to have a good experience. Apologies once again.
The venue and food is amazing I'd deffo recommend it to anyone this was my 1st time trying Japanese food and it was beautiful

Food took over an hour to arrive but the host was very apologetic and offered us a free drink and took a round off the bill. The food was really nice and definitely made up for the wait. Good atmosphere and good music.

Wouldn’t recommend as the service was so poor! We were midway eating our dinner and got told we only had five mins left and wouldn’t give us a chance to order dessert because the kitchen was busy!

Not an authentic Japanese restaurant. Very much a club with some temporary seating. Surprised they didn't have any Japanese beers, offering the cheap stock beers. And no sake? Very odd. You don't feel any authenticity. That being said the food was actually quite good. Have had Japanese all over the world and the food here was comparable. Again missing some must have on the menu. Overall decent experience. Food was good but if I was looking for a Japanese, I wouldn't go back here.

After being hyped by Instagram I expected only the best and it was far from it. From the moment we was seated, the waiting around for attention and service was shocking, and having to repeatedly ask for things is not ok. Our table was at 9pm and we found ourselves eating at 11pm plus the food came out in waves...which would be fine if it wasn't so random. Who wants to eat just chips after eating everything to go with them? Overall just disappointed as I really wanted to enjoy it so it could be a new spot but I won't be rushing back any time soon.

1st time eating here and the food was fantastic, service was friendly and the waitress was really helpful explaining the way the menu worked.
Only niggle was the group of very loud girls 2 tables away, but not a lot the restaurant could do about that.

Music was very loud, so difficult to actually hear or talk. The service, the waitress was poorly trained. With out main dish you get a side dish, we weren’t told this, so ended up ordering more side dishes. Not very attentive to customers. When we needed someone, could not locate them. Overall, expected more especially as a restaurants that’s serving Japanese food (unfortunately did not translate to the service or ambience).
Friend and I were catching up and thought we’d try a different cuisine. This restaurant appeared on OpenTables restaurants to try.
Food was lovely and thoroughly enjoyed by both, although the warm doughnuts were over cooked and hard.
The venue is lovely and chic, the music is Ibiza chill out.
The service - the young lady was very friendly and polite and helped with our understanding of the menu options.
However service was very slow, thankfully we were both driving otherwise it would have been a very sober evening. We had to keep asking for drinks, then the dessert menu and then the bill. Even after making eye contact, with who we assumed was the owner, he was too interested in a group of friends/regulars.
Under the existing circumstances with COVID 19 this is where restaurants will need to step up with table service.

We arrived on time, they sat us at the bar and forgot about us. We had to prompt twice to get us seated 45 minutes later. The food came out in drips and drabs. One of our mains never arrived so we ended up sharing a main between two of us. We left hungry and disappointed. However, they did give us a free cocktail and the entire bill came to £20. There is also zero compliance to government guidelines as staff wear their masks around their necks. Atmosphere was great.

As soon as myself and my partner arrived, we sat down at the table and ordered a drink straight the way, 15 minutes later someone came over to ask us what we wanted to eat but we just wanted 5 more minutes to think, we ordered another drink at the time, 45 minutes later, the manager came over to us and said people are here for this table, I said we haven't even ordered food, because nobody came back to us, we only got spoken to twice, the man was extremely abrupt and rude, whilst I was talking he walked away from me, my partner felt very uncomfortable, we decided to leave, I have eaten at a lot of top restaurants in my time, and this was absolutely horrendous from every point, so we walked across to Bank, and was greeted very nicely and had a lovely evening.

Food was lovely and service very friendly. Ambience was a struggle to achieve given it was a lunchtime sitting and only two tables were occupied when we were there, although four more arrived shortly before we left. The music though was still at normal levels which meant it was quite overpowering for a lunchtime natter.
The main area of disappointment was the fact that there were no desserts on offer at all. No one told us this at any stage of the meal. Had we known, we would probably have ordered more starter and main course items. Apparently they hadn’t had their delivery that day but this should have been communicated.
Summary: -Waited an 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food.
- Music was loud I was could barely hear the waiters nor have a conversation without shouting (as if we were in a club(due to the live DJ.))
My husband and I visited Oko on 17/07/2020 (yesterday) and fair to say we left disappointed.
We took 10 minutes to scroll through the menu and ordered our meal. It was our first time visiting so we were unsure how long it took for the food to get ready. When the food was ready we were told our order was mixed with a larger groups order and thus the delay. The waiters showed remorse and I don’t fault them for the mishap. We were compensated with a 20% off the bill but sufficed to say it wasn’t the best first time experience and wouldn’t consider returning.
Despite with COVID-19 restrictions OKO is honestly hands down the best place to eat in Brum, the food was insanely good and the staff were so attentive and friendly it really had a great atmosphere. Overall I would 100% recommend OKO to everyone and will be going again myself.
Inconsistent and lack of service. Cutlery and plates not given until asked for and even then, came in drive and drabs. Not informed when kitchen was closing so could not have dessert, but another table had ordered dessert after. Staff appeared to not know what they were doing, didn’t seem to have designated tables. Hi AK04, Apologies for your experience, unfortunately with covid restrictions we are unable to have tables laid, and can only bring them out with the food. Yesterday our system crashed and left the system open to bookings when were in fact already fully booked. This is not a consistent thing and most definitely a one off. We apologise immensely, and hope to see you return. We are working on our faults to perfect them.
First time eating at OKO and it was fantastic. Due to Covid-19 they arerestrictions but this doesn’t affect their great customer service. The food was hot and very tasty me and my partner fully enjoyed the experience. We will be booking again very soon.
