Fantastic. Food was imaginative and different but the combinations worked so well. The staff were very helpful and the surprise was that it is such good value. It was our first time having been recommended by a friend but we intend to go again as soon as we can.

Fantastic greeting upon arrival. Open brick walls and great atmosphere. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the sourdough bread with burnt onion butter. It was divine! Could not fault any of the dishes. Good prices too. Can't wait to return!

A really enjoyable meal. The deep fried olives, the asparagus and the hot smoked salmon were particularly tasty. Really friendly staff, nice buzzy atmosphere, would definitely visit again.

My husband and I were visiting Liverpool for a conference and were looking forward to trying Oktopus. We had a fantastic evening at Oktopus! The food is beautiful, inventive and delicious. Wonderful menu. The atmosphere is laid back and fun. We loved watching the two chefs at work and nothing seemed too much bother. We felt as though they were cooking for us. Would 100% recommend Oktopus and will be back when we return to Liverpool. Thank you.

Excellent as usual. But substituting their appetiser signature dish of popcorn mussels with gordal olives, seemed a little bizarre. Anyway I hope they're back soon and served with chopped red chillies again. Serving with silver skin pickled onions is a weird cheffy idea, that doesn't work. And the new buttermilk butter with sourdough, isn't as good as their previous savoury butter.
However, the weird cheffy idea of serving deep fried plaice with shredded white cabbage (sort of slaw) worked really well.

Food was fantastic, service was very good! Just watch how man plates you order, we were recommended between 2-3 plates per person so we ordered bread and olives to start, 3 main plates and a dessert - the portions were much larger than I had anticipated so would maybe not have 3 main plates on top of the starters next time!

Read previous reviews as we wanted somewhere to eat before going to the Philharmonic. I have to say we were not disappointed, the food was excellent, fresh, seasonal, vibrant and buzzing with flavour.
I like the idea of sharing plates and being able to try a few different dishes.
My particular favourite was the mussels.
The drinks were great, I enjoyed the wheat beer and my wife the Gin.
The staff were exceptional and a real credit to the place, very attentive without being over fussy. The food was served very quickly and was perfect.
We ate early about 5pm so it was fairly quiet which was nice as there was a football game on and town was full of out of towners (something to do with Liverpool winning the World Cup again....or was it next year is their year?) so it was nice to relax.
Oktopus is somewhere I will recommend to friends and definitely visit again.

A very enjoyable meal with family and friends. Good advice re portions from waitress. Original and delicious food served in a modern and attractive way. Loved watching the poetry in motion in the open kitchen. Cocktails were unusual and looked and tasted lovely. We were pleasantly surprised that the bill was so reasonable. We would definitely come again

We’ve been customers of Oktopus since it opened in Buyers Club, and also it’s previous incarnation. And big fans too.
So thumbs down for the popcorn mussels now. What are pickled onions doing there ? Where’s the chopped red chilli? And the batter was chewy and doughy too.
This was (maybe still is) their signature dish and we order it almost every time. However maybe not in the future.
Serving food on chipped platters, is not clever either. Two big chips on one plate, one small one on another. Lovely plates, obviously handmade, maybe the KP doesn’t care, when washing them. But serving staff should reject them, before the getting to the diners.
The rest of the food was as always, was delish.

We had a great meal with lots of fresh tasty food. We particulary enjoyed the burrata and the heritage tomatoes with goats curd.

Unfortunately the lemon sole was too salty for us to eat, but staff were very apologetic and quick to sort this out and we were not charged for the dish. The rest of the food was phenomenal so this would not put me off returning at all.

The chefs are amazing, the service was brilliant. I thought the music was a little out of step with the rest of the experience a little later in the night, little bit loud maybe, but that’s a small, personal thing, overall we had a wonderful dining experience and will tell everyone we know that it’s a great restaurant.
