We felt it was a bit loud as there were two groups of noisy guests. Other than that the food and service was great. We went for the open table offer.
Fantastic food and service - as always!
Nice location and decor. Food was good although I found it to be a bit pricey for what it was.
Had an amazing meal through Opentable here. The food was delicious and everyone agreed it was fantastic value with good options to choose from. Service was very good and when we are next in London we'll be back.
Food was good, and service friendly and attentive though we had to wait around half an hour for our food. My companion went for a lunch special, with main and beer or wine included, while I had a main and Diet Coke.
Have taken off a star because they gave us the Diet Coke in the deal, and made us pay for the wine, rather than other way round, so our meal was dearer than expected.
Very slow service when we first arrievd, waited 20 mins for my drink (the rest do the table had already been at the bar and had their drinks) waiter was stood around for a while so could tell it had been forgotten. Food and thereafter very quick though. Nice ambience and food good for value in Soho.
Awful service. Food took an hour and then arrived cold.
Overall, decent interior, good ambience and reasonably priced meal deal, but the onglet steak I ordered was so tough it made me choke. When I flagged it to the staff they seemed rushed and overworked, before simply sending over the manager who in fairness took the price off the meal. The main course took so long to come that I ended up sending the steak back and just not ordering anything else, so as not to make my friends wait. Not really what I expected considering the great reviews.
such a great restaurant. The god was great , every course . The service was amazing and also a great price
Great food and fantastic waitress ...she was helpful and funny...
The set menu was a very good deal for a dinner out with a group of friends. Good number of choices both as starter and main. Service was attentive and the decoration nice. Very centric at the heart of Soho.
Great place. Very tasty food. Friendly staff. This is one of my default places when in Soho. Make sure to reserve a table before you go.
I visited Old Compton Brasserie on a Saturday lunchtime, as a last minute destination because our preferred brunch spot was full.
Overall, our experience was decent enough, with a few drawbacks.
First, the positive:
The restaurant was comfortable and the staff very friendly and cheerful.
I ate the black pudding stack which was delicious.
We felt very welcomed and were not rushed out the door after we had finished eating, which meant we could sit and chat for ages - this is often not the case in Soho!
There were some negatives...
We each ordered a coffee which took a long time to arrive, and when they arrived they were cold. However the staff were quick to replace them with fresh ones which was nice.
The food took a while to arrive and when it did some of the eggs were quite overcooked and the hollandaise sauce had hardened on the top.
The portion sizes were on the small side, considering the price of the food.
Overall Old Compton Brasserie is a decent spot to relax and catch up with friends, but considering the choice nearby they could do with stepping up some elements of the restaurant to make it a go-to destination for brunch.
NOISY LOUD LOUD! ( be aware that the disco music is played at high volume during dinner, you have to shout to be heard... left with a sore throat)
THE GOOD: Extremely nice staff and enjoyable food
Very friendly service, fun and efficient. Food great, place spotless including loos.
Great food, sometimes the service can be a bit hit and miss. Our food came very quickly but we waited along time for drinks and had to keep asking. The only other thing is it is always very loud in the restaurant especially downstairs.
Buzzy, pleasant restaurant with tasty food.
Nice ambiance, food very good and tasty. Service good and not over the top
We enjoyed our 2nd visit to Old Compton Brasserie which is a welcome addition to the much changed Old Compton Street. The standard of food is better then many other places in the area and service was friendly and relaxed. I guess I am older than their typical (target?) clientele though at lunch when it is quiet may be regulate the music a bit better. When busy I am sure the place can take loud music though when empty it just did not feel right. Regrettably the wine mark ups are high with a wine retailing at say £13 on the list at £45 - though I guess the overheads are massive. A good selection on the menu with a variety of plates to suit all appetites - you could do worse than go here if you find yourself in Soho.
I cannot fault the food, but the service was terrible. We had to ask the waiter twice to order drinks and he never came over a refilled wine glasses or offered more drinks.
The starter & dessert were great. The spatchcock chicken was good but the roast potatoes weren’t great. The Ham, Egg & Chips was great too. In terms of value for money the set menu was excellent.
The service was ok. Our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed and couldn’t keep up. It took a long time to order, drinks took a long time to arrive, he wasn’t sure about the drinks available & wasn’t aware what was included on the set menu. We had to chase the bill with another member of staff at the end of our meal to get to the theatre as we couldn’t catch him.
The decor & ambience were both great & we would return. However we’d probably sit nearer the front the restaurant hoping for better service (we were sat along the back wall).
Excellent birthday lunch. Bottomless prosecco and cocktails good value. Food a bit pricey but tasty. Waiting staff excellent.
Great service as always.
Casual, relaxed environment.
Delicious and quick cooking times on food.
Fantastic for a quick lunch but never feel rushed out by staff.
Brilliant value on the bottomless brunch, kept our glasses topped up without ever having to ask.
Had a fabulous time with my friend tonight. All food was well prepared, nicely presented and tasted great. Good drinks as well. Restaurant had a good vibe about it and is in a fantastic location. Would recommend.
We had a good meal that was ruined by where we were seated, the first table by the entrance. Two drunken, smelly men came in and yelled for their mate, an employee at the restaurant, who deposited the raucous, rank pair next to our table (they were standing next to me the whole time) and proceeded to ply them with complimentary shots and appetizers. The lack of consideration and professionalism by the wait staff left a lot to be desired as well. I saw our waiter leave--I suppose for a cigarette break--without telling us. Though we saw him at the bar later, we had to ask someone else for the check since our waiter never came back to check on us.
Service a little slow considering how quiet it was but overall we had a lovely time and would definitely come again! Food was excellent! And the Bloody Mary was spot on!
The food was delicious, the cocktails great and the atmosphere with the live DJ was perfect. Really attentive and friendly service, will definitely be coming back.
We had a table for 2 booked for our first ever visit and I must say the staff were extremely friendly from arrival right through to departure. The menu offered good choice and the food was absolutely delicious. So good was it that my Wife and I were tempted to order a second serving! Slightly noisier ambience than I would normally like but highly recommended.
Wonderful find - the food and the staff were both excellent. Highly recommended.
Fast becoming our favourite in the area. Great service and quality tasty produce with an uplifting atmosphere. Thanks to all the team. See you soon.
Had dinner with a friend on 11th July. My first visit to this gem of a restaurant. Fantastic service, great food, wonderful atmosphere. So good i'm going back soon!
The sea bass was unreal! Highly recommend. Only thing I did not enjoy was how close we were sat to the tables either side of us. Getting in and out of my seat was very awkward given the proximity to the next table.
Fantastic service and food, they made a special effort to celebrate my daughters graduation!
I have already recommended this place to freinds travelling to London!
Nice place. We went on Pride day so the noise level was super loud but that only added to the fabulous party atmosphere. Food a little pricey but overheads in this part of London must be astronomical so no complaints.
Buzzy atmosphere. Good food and the staff are great. Great value for money considering its location..
Great birthday celebration- staff were great fun.
Food was really good and everyone enjoyed it - was good value for money too
A simple menu, filled with classic British fayre - and as tasty as you like. Fantastic service and a glass of champagne on the house to celebrate a birthday. Spot on from allangles
Great drinks offers and food was pretty nice - quite large portions! The only strange thing was the DJ playing to about 10 customers on a Sunday afternoon, didn't really fit the vibe but maybe it got busier after we left.
From calling to check my reservation till the minute we left I can honestly say it was perfect.
We’d not been before as there’s another venue in Compton Street that we used to go to, and love, but I can honestly say that from this experience I will actively promote the Compton Brasserie
The menu is similar to another venue- but the quality is much better- the staff we friendly and attentive, no hint of attitude at all, service was efficient and polite and the food was Devine
And the cocktails were fun and tasty too
Five stars across the board
