Old Compton Brasserie
Booked for a surprise birthday dinner for the other half.
Seated us right away and our waiter was a really cool guy, looked after us really well.
Food was excellent and really tasty, plus great options for our veggie friends.
Service was slightly slow but on a Saturday night and restaurant busy you don’t really want to be rushed in my opinion.
For 8 guests for a starter and mains with numerous G&T’s bill came to £45 pp so super reasonable
Definitely recommend it and will be back for sure
Terrible service. Noisy place.
We had a lovely lunch, the wine flowed and the service was excellent.
Pre theater dinner. Just perfect start to the evening
The food was amazing and there was so much choice. The portions are big so I would be careful when ordering sides etc but would 10/10 go again!
Good food. Excellent service. A little bit noisy by that's us showing our age! Slightly overpriced but that's Soho.
Had a lovely evening here as a group of 7. Hostess and wait staff were all excellent, food was good (inc range of veggie options), and there was a really buzzy atmosphere with great music. Would definitely return.
Great place and lovely food. Staff we very helpful. I’d def go back again.
Great food and lovely ambience. Excellent service from all the staff.
My special request re: bday celebrations (which was clearly visible as it appeared on the screen to the reception staff when I came to the restaurant) was simply ignored.
It's not a venue for food that's going to blow your mind or, depending on how hungry you are, satisfy your appetite. For this reason I won't return as there are so many better places to go in Soho. As an aside staff were friendly and it was very clean.
Pre theatre menu was excellent, service and value difficult to beat.
Would definitely go again.
We went to celebrate our friend birthday..we loved it!! Had a couple of cocktails at the bar first and the staff was very kind and pleasant..and of course cocktails on point!!! Then had dinner and loved every single dish we ordered..we will def go back!! Staff is very friendly!! Thanks for the great evening!!
Great atmosphere, great service tasty and reasonable price and simple central location. With a free main for a marathon runner whats not to like !!
Went for Sunday brunch/lunch. Not too busy, so service was prompt and efficient. Decent menu choice, enjoyed the spicy lamb sausage brunch although was served with normal toast which seemed odd (rye bread was advertised)
The best cocktails I’ve had in a long time! We went for drinks and were sat very quickly but the Our bartender was absolutely fab
We secured a table for 8 people with just a few hours' notice on a Saturday night via OpenTable, which was greatly appreciated. Despite being very busy, the restaurant's staff could not have been more helpful and friendly - special mention goes to the lovely Stefania who went out of her way to ensure that we were happy with the table we were given, and to the numerous waiting staff, who were so attentive, funny and patient. Unfortunately I didn't take their names but one had an amazing tattoo of the London skyline on her arm! The food was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thanks to all for a very special night. We will definitely be back.
Staff were a bit rude and abrupt
Food was ok - one dinner came out really late
Usually this place has a good ambiance and service is prompt but on this occasion it really did fall below expectations. The restaurant was very noisy and was very difficult to hear exactly what our waitress was saying. Service was slow and the waitress had to chase up where our food was as it was taking too long to arrive. Food was bland this time. My risotto was dry and hard and was served so hot that I couldnt actually taste any flavour. It's a shame as this restaurant can do much better than this
I was very surprised at how noisy it was as the website suggested a more traditional brasserie. The atmosphere was quite different, very lively and busy. We were relieved to have a banquette table as the ones in the middle were close together and would have been very congested. Staff were great, really helpful, cheerful and efficient. Food was not bad for the cost but maybe not quite good enough to overcome the noise issue.
We visited Old Compton Brasserie pre theatre and had a fantastic time. The service was great as was the food and ambience - really buzzing and fun. The bill made me blink until I realised just how many cocktails we had consumed! We would certainly go there again as the staff were lovely. A really good experience - enjoyed by all.
Disappointed with the food. We went with a large group on Easter Sunday for brunch so maybe the main chef was off but even so expected better quality at what is supposed to be a top pick for food. Won’t return again anytime soon.
Standard family restaurant. It's ok.
Lovely food, good value set menu, trendy looking venue and friendly staff - recommend
It was my husbands birthday and our anniversary I booked weeks in advance and requested a nice table and we were put under the stairs. Children were jumping up and down on them throughout the meal. The waiting staff were surly apart from a couple who were very friendly, food was average the salmon dish was extremely salty. Won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend. Very disappointing after the reviews I had read as they were all complimentary.
It was shocking that bad. It started all right. We were a bit late but they had our table available.. The restaurant looks new and funky and good fun. We sat down and an enthusiastic waitress took our drink order. Including wine. That took 15 minutes to come. She then took our food order starters and mains. After about 40 minutes we had to summon her back to chase the starters. They came shortly after and were ok . We ordered a second bottle of wine and were assured our main courses were on the way. Nearly an hour later nothing further had happened and I had to resort to waving my arms around to get any attention...our own waitress having disappeared...the remaining staff were intent on talking to each other or looking at their mobiles rather than seeing if any diners needed help. Our meal(mainly steaks) arrived about 20 minutes later...pretty clear they had lost the order as they wanted to double check what we ordered. The 3 steaks were all brown on the outside but really cold and therefore inedible. A sort of steak lolly. Our guess is that having lost our order the steaks were taken out of a freezer and not defrosted and then cooked. Awful. The burger was ok ish. The steak tartare adequate. The manager was summoned and said how sorry she was and could they cook the steaks again. By then we had been in the restaurant for 2.5 hours with all the delays; drunk 3 bottles of wine and had barely any food...it being 11.00. We all needed to leave and get to bed. We went to pay. The manager had done some calculations to reduce the bill. We suggested we paid for drinks but no food. She went away to get that authorised. Bizarrely she then bought over 5 limoncellos which was the last thing we wanted. We paid no tip. I feel that even paying for the drinks was too much and will be contacting the restaurant and asking for a further refund given how appalling the whole experience was. Opentable should warn their customers to steer clear or drop it as a restaurant.
Lovely new setting in Soho, had a great brunch with a friend
The food was deliciously prepared and the cocktails were well executed. We had the palomas and couldn’t help but order more. The service was great and felt personal.
Great location, ambience and service. Only gripe was the veg and beetroot hummus which had too much veg and too little hummus and was too expensive at £14
Great place for a casual mid-week dinner. Not too quiet with a nice buzz
The perfect Brasserie...great ambience, friendly fun service and a varied menu.
I had the burger which was excellent and my friend had the Ham (Bacon Chop) Egg & Chips.
Only downside was the fact I was facing the stunning mirrored back wall ...as it was quite bright making it hard to see my dining partner.
Great service, lovely food and drinks and a 5 minute walk from the palace theatre so ideal for inbetween Harry Potter shows - which is why we want. Highly recommended.
A very nice evening for five. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Ambience fun and buzzy and food very good. E
My friends and I were going to the theatre around the corner and a colleague had suggested Old Compton for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Our waiter Azoitei Bogdam was very personable as well as helpful when asking for suggestions. Loved our dinners and will refer the restaurant to all our friends who are in the neighborhood!!
Excellent service and excellent food and cocktails
Food was ok - few things (Egg Florentine/Benedict) were good, few others (Baked eggs and Sunday roast) were really bad, but most of all the service was slow and inaccurate.
Food only ok I have truffle chicken with garlic potatoes only ok nothing special .My friend had burger which she enjoyed . Nice drinks menu . Waiter was curt and not particularly friendly . Probably wouldn’t return
Food was great, straightforward and decent quality, but service was truly appalling. I won’t go back because of the service.
I booked this over the internet never having been before and so my expectations were not very high. However we found the whole experience wonderful. The staff were good the ambiance was good and the food was lovely. It was my husbands birthday and they brought out a Pavlova at the end with a sparkler - a nice touch.
We have now booked another table for our daughters 18 birthday!
Amazing food and cocktails but far far too hot. Staff v friendly.
